Found a couple links on Fark... I thought they applied nicely... 100 most misspelled words and phrases I know I'm guilty of a few of them I'd like to add a couple: Ridiculous -- from the root Ridicule -- rediculuss, and rediculous are not acceptable. Irregardless -- Usage Note: Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so. In other words you can't spell it wrong, because it's not a word. So stop using it. 100 most mispronounced words and phrases Could of would of should of -- all should actually be pronounced as a contraction, e.g. could've, or two separate words niether of which is "of", e.g. could have. There was one other mispronunciation I wanted to list but it has currently escaped my mind. Feel free to list others which are often confused. I know none of us are perfect, but we can strive to be slightly better than average, cant we?

Prediction: KW will initially look really stupid for trading this guy away for Uribe. Miles will put up some solid number in the thin air in Denver. Uribe may struggle at first away from the friendly air. But long term, Uribe has more upside, and should prove to be a good trade-off for Miles.

i didn't expect anything out of MSU -- before the kansas game I said they were the most overrated team in the country. I really expected more out of Mizzou though. Actually they are still on pace for about the win total I would have guessed. I bet they are one of the teams to beat come tournament time though. The big ten though is looking terrible.. Purdue- a tourney team- doesn't make it to the second weekend MSU- needs to string some wins together to get into the tourney Wisconsin -- the only tourney guarentee.-- sweet 16 and that's about it Illinois -- they'll make the tourney -- sweet 16?? probably Michigan -- Higher hopes this year -- they're still not good. Minnesota -- Your best player is a freshman -- he'll be gone next year Iowa -- Could be sleeper team in Big Ten -- Could just fall asleep at the wheel though too Northwestern -- well they got one road victory in the big ten they might get two if they play at penn st. Indiana -- I've seen more size on a HS debate team, its about time they scored more than 50 points -- I was beginning to think we were in the pre shot clock era again. Penn ST -- Just bad, just bad

Mizzou has been terrible since losing to illinois, including losses to Belmont @ home no less, Memphis, and Iowa state... That's hardly a good win-- especilly considering that was thier first game outside the state of New York... I hate Syracuse and Jim Boehiem. They play at least 20 home games a year, so that they can reach the 20 win mark and be assured of getting in the tournament. Syracuse has yet to play a ranked opponent. how bout you take a john cheney, Tom Izzo approach, play anybody anywhere. MSU has played 6 ranked opponents -- 3 on the road. Temple has only played one ranked team, but they have only played 4 home games, with 7 on the road, compared to 11 and 2 for Syracuse, respectively. Gonzaga is far more impressive than Syracuse... thier only losses, two of them, have come on the road against teams ranked in the top 6, and they lost by 7 points both times. ACC does look like the stud conference out there, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't put a team in the final four. The tourny is a strange mistress.

FlaSoxx beat me to it, but she's the reason I call USCF by a different nickname than most do. On the way to Opening day last year, riding on the EL, they have those posters up for US Cellular, the ones with Joan pictured prominently. My friend pointed out, "that chicks everywhere". "Joan?" I replied .... I then pointed out that she was the main spokesperson for the new stadiums namesake. So we decided since Bank One Ballpark is called the BOB, and Joe Lewis Arena is called the JOE, we would call USCF the JOAN.

I was just reading The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2003. There's plenty of quality reads in there, taken from various periodicals and internet sites. There's quite alot of selections that would make good "required" reading for you HS kids.

Slightly off topic here, but did anyone see Tony sira(whatever) "Goose" during the Rams-Panthers game on Saturday??? He added nothing to the Broadcast. His best quote was "Idon't know, I know what to say?" I was hoping he would get hungry and just eat his microphone. That way we wouldn't have to listen to him anymore. In overtime they just kept throwing to him live, and he coulcn't have been more unprepared.

I ripped through Moneyball in one night... of course I stayed up until like 3am reading it, but it was worth it.

I don't know much about Grimm either, but I'll say this, an O-line coach as a head coach would be a good move, as long as you get someone to work with the young QB. Look at Denver, it doesn't matter what back they have had over the past 10 years, they are a force because of thier O-line.
