Some relievers not offered arbitration
Gene Honda Civic replied to sox-r-us's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Don't count on that Colon money going anywhere but back in JR's wallet.... KW said as much Colon was plan A and plan B didn't include the money that was being thrown at Colon. -
As of rigth now there are only 17 people with my last name in the USA... it will be 16 in a few months..... No I don't plan on dying, so don't get your hopes up... a second cousin is getting married.

Rosario is a young guy who only has 8IP (CAREER) i don't know how he is a FA... Benitez--- made alot of money last year... Should be about the same as we suposedly offered EDDIE... He'd be a better option than Eddie. Good against both lefties and righties DeJean --- a cheaper option-- a decent pitcher to fill the pen. could be had at under $2 MIL Urbina --- Same as Benitez --- I would have been talking to Urbina and Benitez before EDDIE Jimenez -- Jason seems to like him--- he had his worst K/BB ratio of his career last year -- He made 3.5 MIL ...I'd pass.. But if he was able to get back to 2002 form...4:1 K/BB ratio I'll take that. The rest I either don't know anything about --- or I would hate to see on this team. well maybe not glover... at least we know what we'd be getting, and cheap -
2nd row.... Right in the MIDDLE
-
They have a whole stable full of them over there in LALA land...that's the only reason his name comes up
-
Yes-- I see him next year as a go-to-guy in the pen... come in when the s*** hits the fan and clean up the mess...I think if he can prove over the course of a season working as a righty-stud (like GAGNE) he can become our future closer. I don't ever see him winning a Cy Young but being an EFFECTIVE reliever. Look at his splits for Reliever vs. Starter last year. He is more EFFECTIVE out of the pen Mac's a little faster than me... I was busy linking stats to back up my argument
-
How can I say that -- We need a proven right hander --Marte can Close --Koch Who knows??? maybe he'll step up.. I doubt it -- his numbers were never great.. The Price tag is what's really got me on this one...Why pay that much for someone that really doesn't fill your #1 need Gordon-- who proved last year he was just as good as Eddie -- got less money Sully --who I think we could have had for less than last year--is gone too Which would you rather have??? Eddie @ $5Mill a year or Gordon AND Sully @ $6 MIL a year... I see this not as adding a player, I see the limited funds we do have escaping on a guy we don't really need.

Billy Beane has proven the last 4 years that you don't need a big payroll to win... you need a god GM and a plan... I don't think the sox have either.
-
Here is the the ranking of GIDP rate.... thenumber all the way on the right is How many fewer/more DP's you grounded into than if the "average MLer" was at the plate. MAGGS and Kongerko were the 2 worst in the AL... Kongerko the Worst in Basball. Lo Duca was right up there, 2nd worst in the NL, 3rd in baseball MOTA is one of the Dodgers lights-out relievers who benefited from throwing at chavez ravine. His K/BB ratio went through the roof last year... showing he figured something out.. I doubt the dodgers are giving this guy up.
-
Let's jsut hope this offer is just a rumor... I can't fathom any situation where it is a good signing.
-
That entire article was just sad.... The pills, the accident, the molestation... that guy is seriously messed up
-
good-- cuz I'm getting upset here... I know Jason is always campaigning for the GM job... But right now if this is true, I KNOW I COULD DO A BETTER JOB THAN KW
-
It's green because tht would mean that they would have to field all nine positions and pitch because we would be able to afford another signle player..
-
Good I'm glad I've got someone else who see's this my way... I think people here are just over-anxious to say we got a deal done.. or that we signed a new big free-agent... Let's make it the right deal/signing and not get stuck with another Koch...

Run support goes a long way in determining a pitchers wins and losses. Loiza would have won the Cy young this year if he had the run support of Roy Halladay. He won 21 games, and lost 2 1-0 games to Detroit.... sure your line-up can pick you up one day and let you down another... Toronto's won Roy halladay a Cy young.... --------------------------- The STATS supports that argument... Most of Ponson's stats remained the same when he switched teams and yet he when he was pitching in big games he lost.... This guy is not a winner and not a replacement for Colon.... HE'LL be overpriced and will Under-produce..
-
Cum on evrybudy -- Pyle on -- this iz fun.
-
Since we're not going to sign Colon i think we should beef up the Offense. Sign VLAD outfield = MAGGS + VLAD + LEE = Unstoppable
-
KNOW, I don't
-
Seems overpaid -- I think not -- a quality proven RIGHT-HANDED arm.. The sox just offered 15MIL contract to a LEFTY--- who's about the same a lightenburg. and doesn't even fill a need... My head hurts-- I think it may explode soon.

It's only a "BLAST" if you don't poke a few holes in them with a fork first -
Guardado is way over-rated... we will Way overpay him... PLus he doesn't even fill a need... we ALREADY HAVE THE BEST LEFT-HANDED RELIEVER IN BASEBALL

Oh please we haven't even mentioned half of the fun places to put cats like: The oven The Microwave The Dryer Nestled against a warm radiator fan when you start your car (this one's messy) The Bonsia Kitty -
I would say No this isn't bad news, it gives us increased flexibility. But, Remember back from the Ozzie press conference... It sounds like the Money we threw at Colon was only available to Colon. :fyou JR, HOW is money spent on one free agent any more valuable than the same amount of money spent on a collection of guys who can make a bigger impact?

Badger, That was the most objective, well written post I've read in a while... Oh yeah and it just happens that I agree with all of it. Me thinks Borchard is outta here too.

I've been saying this for a while.. I see DW as the closer of the future for the White Sox.
