  1. Most plausible explanation. Jerry is the only person who could fire him. The doctors were right. Tony appeared sober and lucid at his final press conference for the first time. He needed massive doses of rest and detoxification. He would have likely died or become permanently incapacitated if he tried to finish his announced contract with the same lifestyle as he the first two (long work days, his age, his "self-medicating", etc.). Sure this was also the right call beyond never considering him two years ago, but Hahn needed to leave (and Kenny retire) for the Sox to have a clean slate and either try to win in 2023/2024 or plan for an actual competitive window starting 2025/2026, with a competent front office.
  2. I’d argue the best generation (20 years) of White Sox baseball was 1901-1920, and would have gone much longer, possibly the best American League team in history, if Landis didn’t ban the eight acquitted White Sox players for life. The White Sox were a juggernaut between 1917-1920, within 1/2 game of the 1920 Pennant until the accused players were suspended by Comiskey for their final series. They had a solid core and the team could have very well been competing for World Series into the 1920s and beyond if their substantial core wasn’t gutted. They were within 2.0 lost 1920 bWAR than Hahn entire 2022 team. Joe Jackson (7.5 Age 32) Happy Felsch (5.6 Age 28) Eddie Cicotte (5.1 Age 36) Buck Weaver (3.5 Age 29) Lefty Williams (3.5 Age 27) Swede Risberg (1.5 Age 25) Fred McMullin (-0.5 Age 28) Net 1920 bWAR lost 26.2 Net 2022 bWAR 28.0 (11.2 H & 16.8 P) Best White Sox Decades: (Games +/- .500) 1900s +169 1950s + 154 1910s +106 1960s +102 2000s +92 1990s +81 2020s +34 1980s -44 1920s -73 1970s -101 1940s -112 2010s -135 1930s -171 Net +102 Comiskey Era (1900s - 1920s) +202 Reinsdorf Era (1980s - 2020s) +28 Allyn Era (1960s-1970s) +1 Comiskey Descendants (1930s-1950s) -129

  4. Doesn’t have the same issue paying his crony general managers and managers millions of dollars despite the fact they can’t perform their jobs. If Tony’s doctors didn’t shut him down he’d still be here, and for as long as Tony damn well pleased. The fans have increasingly stopped going to games because of signing poor management, not because of player injuries which happen across baseball every season.

  6. The White Sox sign James Glick as the President of Baseball Operations, with Kenny officially retiring after chilling in Arizona the past two years and Rick Hahn banned from Comiskey Park and White Sox Business for life.

  8. Beyond max profits, it’s all a joke to Jerry, has been since 1981.
  9. Didn’t see this anywhere. Thanks or the memories and I hope you finally get the World Series rings in Houston that you did everything in your power to earn here.
  10. Jerry is going to read Bob the riot act after Smithers hands him Bob’s article tomorrow morning. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/its-a-feeding-frenzy-for-free-agents-at-mlb-winter-meetings-opinion/ar-AA14ZaFE
  11. I’m going to laugh my ass off if the Yankees or Dodgers sign AJ Pollock and then flip him to the Sox for Liam.
  12. With the 15th pick, the Chicago White Sox select Designated Hitter xxxx xxxxxx.

  15. Contemporary Baseball Era Ballot: Bonds Clemens Palmeiro Schilling BBWAA Ballot Rodriguez Rolen Additional Players I would vote for if/when eligible: Allen # Beltre Cabrera Greinke Jackson # Kershaw Mauer Pujols Rose Scherzer Trout Verlander # - Played for the Chicago White Sox
  16. Williams, Hahn (FO) and Boston (Coach) are here for life. Sums up Jerry’s priorities with the White Sox. Jerry adjusts his tie.
  17. Starting Pitching, followed by defensive shortstops. Pitchers park and low scoring games for nine decades at Comiskey Park called for these strengths. Beuhrle and Sale have continued this tradition being two of their top four players over the past 30 years at the hitter’s park (Thomas and Ventura the hitters). Top Ten White Sox Career bWAR SS Luke Appling 77.6 1B Frank Thomas 68.3 SP Red Faber 67.7 2B Eddie Collins 67.0 SP Ted Lyons 66.8 SP Ed Walsh 63.9 SP Wilbur Wood 51.8 SP Eddie Cicotte 50.0 SP Billy Pierce 49.3 SP Mark Buehrle 48.9 Guillen, Aparicio and Carrasquel were solid defensive shortstops in addition to Luke Appling. These four covered 49 seasons of White Sox baseball.
  18. The Sox have started 16 position players accumulating 35 > 2.0 fWAR seasons since 2012. 6: Jose Abreu (2014, 2015, 2017, 2020, 2021, 2022) 5: Tim Anderson (2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) 3: Adam Eaton (2014, 2015, 2016); Yoan Moncada (2019, 2020*, 2021); Luis Robert (2020*, 2021, 2022) 2: Tyler Flowers (2014, 2015); Yasmani Grandal (2020*, 2021); James McCann (2019, 2020*); Alexi Ramirez (2013, 2014) 1: Alejandro De Aza (2013); Adam Engel (2020*); Todd Frazier (2016); Avisail Garcia (2017); Eloy Jimenez (2020*); Alex Rios (2013); Yolmer Sanchez (2018) The Sox have fielded 14 pitchers accumulating 25 > 2.0 fWAR seasons since 2012. Abreu and Anderson exceeded 2.0 fWAR, even without this adjustment.
  19. Yes, those are my favorites as well. I've never purchased a Reinsdorf era jersey/cap (1980-current uniforms). Still have my 1976-1980 Sox cap, but it's retired (both personally and appearantly not even for sale anymore). I only wear / purchase the 1971-1975 red cap with white lettering. The caps were previously sold under the Cooperstown Classic series, but are now sold under the New Era brand. I don't like any combination of black/dark navy blue with red and white. The only red/white/blue combo I'll wear across any sport are Montreal related (Expos and Canadians). Looking at the historic lettering on the White Sox website, I also like the 1932-1935 home logo. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/history/logos-and-uniforms Favorite home uniform: Favorite Road Uniform:
  20. James Click is a 30 fWAR per season upgrade over Rick Hahn. Do. It. Now.
  21. “You did good Pop. You did real good.” No Norman Dale (old guy with prior success) today. What I’ve read of Grifol I like. Katz staying and everyone else (hopefully) going makes this an excellent day. For the first time in two years, I’m not embarrassed being raised a White Sox fan. Hope Espada also gets promoted this off-season or after one more year of Dusty. He also deserves a chance.
  22. I first heard of Joe Espada in October 2019 after listening to an interview of Theo Epstein on the Score. David Ross was hired, but Theo said Espada impressed him and Jed so much, they had a really difficult decision. Said they really learned a lot during their two interviews with him, both about the approach of top organizations like the Astros, and they were also very impressed with him as a person / candidate. Liked what I saw and read about Espada since then, which is why he was my top option pre and post Tony. Regardless of who is hired, I’m glad the Sox have finally taken the time to conduct their first external interview process for a top position since Ozzie vs. Cito nearly two decades ago. Hopefully Hahn and Jerry have been exposed to the way successful people and organizations operate and perhaps begin to make some long overdue changes internally.
