  1. Yes, despite telling the team he wouldn't come back if they lost Sunday. He should have promised the opposite, he wouldn't return until they lost a game. Might have closed out the season without a loss.
  2. Not into accuracy or current reality either. No doubt you still call your syrup Aunt Jemima, because you may not be into "woke bs", but you are committed to offending others.
  3. You have to go back to the Ventura era (as manager, thankfully not as player) to find the last White Sox four game win streak over Cleveland. Last Eight Four Plus Game Win Streaks (Cleveland vs. Chicago A. L.): Cleveland over Chicago 2022 (4/20, 4/20, 4/21, 5/9) Cleveland over Chicago 2020 (8/8, 8/9, 9/21, 9/22, 9/23, 9/24) Cleveland over Chicago 2018 (8/11, 8/12, 9/18, 9/19) Cleveland over Chicago 2018 (5/28, 5/29, 5/30, 6/11) Cleveland over Chicago 2017. (9/4, 9/5, 9/6, 9/7, 9/29) Cleveland over Chicago 2016 (5/23, 5/24, 5/25, 6/17, 6/18, 6/19, 8/16) Chicago over Cleveland 2015 (8/23, 8/24, 8/25, 8/26) Cleveland over Chicago 2014 (8/28, 9/5, 9/6, 9/7)
  4. Mickey Moniak leads off. Better than Leury with a .534 OPS.
  5. Sox target cheap and stupid when looking for a manager. They waived cheap this one time since it was Jerry’s crony friend.
  6. Well he came in already into the offseason, but made a bunch of moves to make the following season one of the most memorable in White Sox history. He also made going to the ballpark a great experience for fans.
  7. Celebrating a great doubleheader sweep from 36 years ago in this off day, a Sunday in 1976. Game One featured a 2-1 White Sox win over the California Angels in 10 Innings. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA197609121.shtml This game marked Minnie Minoso's 2,113rd and final hit as a major leaguer, a single to left that advanced Chet Lemon to second base. Chet Lemon knocked in Buddy Bell previously for the Sox' only run in regulation. California's starter Sid Monge went into the tenth, where he led off the inning walking Jim Spencer. After Ralph Garr was inserted as a pinch runner, White Sox catcher Brian Downing ended the game with a double to the CF gap to score Ralph Garr. White Sox starter Goose Goosage pitched the full ten innings, resulting in a complete game win, his final win as a member of the White Sox. Despite going 10 innings, this game was completed in 2 hours and 40 minutes. The White Sox went on to sweep the Doubleheader 5-1 in the nightcap, which also knotted the series at 2 games each (California won the first two). https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA197609122.shtml Francisco Barrios also went the distance, and also surrendered just one run to the Angels, on a bunt single by leadoff hitter Dave Collins, plating Mario Guerrero who led off the top of the 3rd with a double. The White Sox tied it on an RBI triple by Chet Lemon in the bottom of the 4th to score Bill Stein, who led off the inning with a single. The White Sox would add two more runs the following inning, on back to back RBI triples by Jim Spencer and Jorge Orta. Pretty rare, wonder if that happened again for the Sox (or any team). The White Sox wrapped up their scoring with two RBI singles in the bottom of the seventh, off the bats of Alan Bannister and Jorge Orta. The game finished in 2 hours, 11 minutes. The doubleheader was played in front of a reported attendance of 11,919. With the sweep, the White Sox closed the gap between them and California to just 3 1/2 games. However, these two teams went in opposite directions after this date, with California finishing the season 11-7 to finish in a fifth place tie with the Texas Rangers (76-86). Meanwhile, the White Sox closed out the season 3-15 to finish in last in the AL West with a 64-97 record. Glad Sox fans, Minnie Minoso and Rick Gossage had one final Hurrah! before closing out the season.
  8. Eloy is the one who has been adamant he is an outfielder and not a DH. The FO supported him publicly, but likely saw what all of us saw since he was called up. If Eloy has matured this year, and will accept playing DH regularly, then he will be an asset to the White Sox. If he continues to demand playing LF, and continuing missing 100 games per season, including on preventable injuries, than he is not an asset to the White Sox. In terms of what he wears, I could give a rats ass. Just don't do stupid s%*# out there drawing a risk of injury for yourself and your teammates. Eloy on DHing: 2019: “I don’t feel comfortable playing DH,” Jimenez said in an interview with MLB’s Jon Paul Morosi. “I like playing the outfield. I don’t care if it’s right field or left field, but I feel comfortable in the outfield. I don’t like being the DH. For me, it’s boring.” https://tireball.com/mlb/2019/11/12/eloy-jimenez-not-interested-in-playing-dh/ 2020: Jimenez plays left field, and he said he’s working very hard to improve defensively. “It’s going to be better,” Jimenez said. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/white-sox/ct-chicago-white-sox-soxfest-eloy-jimenez-dylan-cease-20200125-hu5tl3uxhnba5kqiyfmgxijt3i-story.html 2020: "No, f*** that:" https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox/eloy-jimenez-says-fk-thought-dhing-while-pledging-defensive-improvement 2021: 2021: "We had a talk, and he said that (he didn't like to DH)," La Russa relayed before Monday's game in Kansas City. "I said, 'Well, you control your mind, and the days that you're DH'ing, you've just got to stay involved. Sit on the bench like you're playing left field. But you're DH'ing today. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/sports/nbcsports/white-sox-eloy-jimenez-no-fan-of-dhing-but-there-in-return/2566359/ Eloy's DH vs. LF Batting Splits: Also, his splits are he has hit far better as a LF than as a DH, even accounting for his solid 2022 majority DH plate appearances (135 DH vs. 113 LF). Perhaps this year is the first year he feels comfortable play DH, not finding it "boring" or for "old fat guys" and being engaged when he is batting. That said, perhaps a portion of the underperformance to date can be attributed to the fact that when he DHs, he is likely dealing with an injury. Left Field: .858 OPS in 959 PA DH: .746 OPS in 250 PA
  9. Currently on MLB.com, it’s Kopech Tuesday, Cease Wednesday, and TBD on Thursday. Giolito would go if they don’t change the current rotation order. Lynn could go on regular rest if they skip over Lucas, or flip flop Lucas on regular rest for Wednesday and go with Cease on extra rest on Thursday.
  10. Rumor or speculation? This is the first I’ve heard of this reason. Below is the play where it appeared he injured his hand.
  11. Yes, but Dallas flat out sucked as he did all season. Would call Cueto's outing the worst in terms of expectations, but Dallas' was one of the worst all time in baseball history.
  12. *Cough* Dallas Keuchel *Cough* April 20, 2022 @ Cleveland https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CLE/CLE202204201.shtml 9 runs, 9 hits, 2 errors, 1 LOB. White Sox 0, Guardians 10.
  13. I can assure you Fisk's teammates loved him more than Tony's players love him. Nobody is going to speak ill of their boss on the record, unless it is a last ditch effort to collectively purge him. I believe they like him as a person, but most know he cannot do the job and should never return.
  14. All it took was Tony’s appearance at Oakland Coliseum for Leury to return to the lineup.
  15. Sox are already up 1,000 to nothing today after Tony’s comments about this return to the dugout as uncertain. Would definitely be his biggest positive contribution to White Sox Baseball over a decade if he decides not to return this year (and beyond).
  16. The power of prayer of large numbers of people. Keep working it upstairs, Farmeo!!!
  17. Lance saw Tony in the stands yesterday.
  18. Tony In = Seacrest Out. Speaking of which, one last game before Leury returns to playing everyday. Hopefully the two weeks of rest will help him down the stretch.
  19. Hoping Cairo keeps the team in the clubhouse during the Dave Stewart ceremony, so they can go one more game without seeing him. Hoping beyond hope the Sox fire Tony and ban him from the clubhouse like they did to Fisk when they cut him in Cleveland, and he was forced to say goodbye to his teammates from the stands. Sadly, this level of pettiness is nearly always reserved in a Reinsdorf organization against players.
  20. The biggest dagger to the team is Tony's unwillingness and/or inability to make proper reliever and pinch hitting moves, and rally the team when down. Ricky and Miguel won the same number of come from behind games (with a 3+ run deficit) in just over a quarter of the games Tony managed over the past three seasons, and they did so against quality teams (Tony's all came against bottom basement teams). White Sox come from behind wins (down 3 or more runs): Tony La Russa (5 of 288 Games) 5/11/21 Down 3-0 Top 2nd vs. Minnesota (73-89) 8/27/21 Down 6-0 Top 1st vs, Chicago N. L. (71-91) 10/2/21 Down 4-0 Top 7th vs. Detroit (77-85) 5/19/22 Down 4-1 Through 3 innings @ Kansas City (56-83) 6/28/22 Down 3-0 Through 4 innings @ Los Angeles A. L. (60-78) Ricky Renteria + Miguel Cairo (5 of 74 Games) 8/31/20 Down 4-0 Through 3 innings at Minnesota (36-24) 9/11/20 Down 3-0 Top 6th vs. Detroit (23-35) 9/26/20 Down 5-2 Top 4th vs. Chicago N. L. (34-26) 9/07/22 Down 4-0 Through 3 @ Seattle (77-61) 9/9/22 Down 3-0 Through 8 innings @ Oakland (50-89)
