The last manager was shit canned for this very thing.

7/20 Gamethread: Keuchel vs. Ober
Crochet should be in the minors working on his slider and changeup, and learning how to field his position. He doesn't have enough movement to fool hitters with just his fastball, and one or two innings a week are stunting any development.

Well, most managers don't test that premise. Collins is fine hitting when he catches, but he shouldn't be used as DH because Tony is obsessed with bloody platoon splits to start the game. It's absurd, but then again so is a lot of other things he does.

7/20 Gamethread: Keuchel vs. Ober
I believe the criticism is by starting both catchers, he couldn't PH for either with the risk of having Mendick catch if Zavala went down. I'd have to agree it was too clever by half to start both, and bat them back to back, to fulfill his platoon fetish.

Yep, 22 pitches (his first inning) was his longest appearance since May 24. Seems like the Sox have decided now is the time to start stretching him out for the second half. He finished with 40 pitches today, 4 pitches off of his longest relief appearance this year.

If you pull Collins, Mendick or Tim is your backup. Collins can hit, but Grandal should be the only C you DH.

22 pitches at this point, It's already his most pitches since May. Only if they want to start stretching him out.- 7/20 Gamethread: Keuchel vs. Ober
He's a young catcher who took a big leap forward this offseason. Catching is by far the most complex position to learn and become a starter. The fact that Rodon and Lucas prefer him speaks a lot about their faith he can best handle their best pitches that hit the dirt. He's 26 with a few dozen games heading into the season. The Sox are very fortunate he is under team control for the next five years.- 7/20 Gamethread: Keuchel vs. Ober
Kopech needs to start the inning clean.- 7/20 Gamethread: Keuchel vs. Ober
Yes. Two of the three Aces live pitching to him, he hits, stays healthy. Gets paid the minimum. Most here hate him. Makes no sense.- 7/20 Gamethread: Keuchel vs. Ober
Moncada continues to dab SoxTalk.- 7/20 Gamethread: Keuchel vs. Ober
The Twins could have someone warming up soon, but their bullpen options are just as bad. This team is hot garbage, and they are only going to get worse this season after the deadline and beyond. Enjoy life in the porta-potty Josh, you earned it.- 7/20 Gamethread: Keuchel vs. Ober
Sit down you clown.- The Makings of a Juggernaut?
Eloy can’t wait to crash into corn stalks, and RIP photo bombs with Ray “Shoeless Joe” Liotta in heaven. Definitely don’t want Eloy up until next week after the NL series in Milwaukee. Hopefully he’ll be PH or play a Jake Lamb like 2 ABs before leaving for a legitimate ML outfielder in the final NL series at Wrigley. Have zero expectation Eloy gives a shit about avoiding stupid plays or getting injured, not to mention two errors in 41 minor league innings so far, or two more than Andrew Vaughn at a brand new position this entire season. As Steve Stone said, the team has been immensely successful without Eloy doing a god damned thing for it, and he needs to make an effort to fit in and contribute where the team needs him. -Eloy, August 6, 2020 after his second IL stint. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/white-sox-eloy-jimenez-continues-to-run-into-things-in-left-field-and-that-should-cause-concern-in-chicago/- 7/19 - Twins @ Sox Game 2 "He is Risen: The Return of Reynaldo"
Long way before they need to commit. Neither may make it with Kopech available. Keuchel is a good #4/#5 innings eater during the year, but I don’t believe he is a quality option against playoff quality offenses at this stage of his career. Cease may not have the mental makeup at this stage, they passed on him last year when they were desperate for a #3 starter. Cease has improved this season, but needs to improve more to have Tony/Hahn’s confidence, IMO.- White Sox now 13th in attendance
I think more important than the attendance count is the average price per ticket / total revenue. The Sox are getting packed stadiums, and charging a lot more per game than during the tanking, when tickets were really cheap for most games (many discounts, $5 or $10 seats). I went to 8 games at $3 per game (weekday April/May/September) from a special offers in 2019, sure others got great deals as well. It's obvious the Sox are comfortable both with remaining ticket revenue this year, and anticipated increases in 2022 season ticket and general ticket sales, to increase payroll to $160M with the Lynn signing. If they give Rodon a qualifying offer and or sign him or others, they can jack up payroll significantly more. If they reach or win the WS, I'd anticipate a $180 + payroll, with all the 2022 season tickets they can sell guaranteeing WS tickets like they did in 2005. I'm glad the Sox fans choosing to go this year are having a great time, and the team is improving when it was touch and go through June with the restrictions, which still may return this Fall / next year.- White Sox Winner!!!
Great comeback, glad I (and most here) stuck with the second game. Rey Lo and Foster kept it close, glad Foster was OK after the scary comeback. Keuchel shooting for 5 or 6 IP tomorrow in his quest for 160. Hope the Sox crush Ober, then Pineda to close out the homestand, before leaving Jason and Steve in their dust and heading up to Milwaukee.- 7/19 - Twins @ Sox Game 2 "He is Risen: The Return of Reynaldo"
Pretty sure the Sox will go with 14 in the playoffs, two more than now (1 less starter, 1 less reliever), though Tony may stick with 9 relievers, even with the three hitter rule. Hamilton is a lock regardless. Think Tony is going to want Lamb as a veteran off the bench. YM, TA, LG, DM, JA (INF). YG ZC (C) AE EJ LR AV make 13, leaving room for Sheets or Burger if they go 14. (assuming all are healthy/no acquisitions).- 7/19 - Twins @ Sox Game 2 "He is Risen: The Return of Reynaldo"
