9/22 - White Sox @ Cleveland: Lopez vs Quantrill
My vote was Anderson until the past few games, Abreu has overtaken Anderson with four games to go. Anderson is still the player the White Sox can least afford to lose, comparing the alternatives, but Abreu had the better season. Still want to see Anderson win the Batting Title, though the past few games have turned the race to a come from behind task.

What was Abreu doing on that play? DJ critical on the radio broadcast.

He’s been their best pitcher since being called up (Keuchel good in his line start). All have one more tuneup, hope they take advantage of their final opportunity before games really matter.

Trevor Bauer Thread (Mazara Free Zone)
This. The only two starters they can count consistently were developed elsewhere, or eliminated 100% of Cooper’s White Sox input to work with his high school pitching coach.

Don’t see a transaction as of now on the website and WGN pregame didn’t address Grandal’s injury. Hope McCann or Grandal’s mitt fits Yolmer’s hands if Grandal can’t go, don’t want Anderson used this close to the playoffs, regardless of how badass fun it would be to watch him gun down a runner. The Sox have a good chance today, hoping for a third consecutive good start from Lopez, and a multi hit game from Anderson.

What does a 2021 MLB season look like?
This^ Could see teams resorting to more revenue sharing to get through next season, if they choose to hold it. Owners stated they lose $640,000 by every game played, highly suspect, and wouldn't put it past them to cancel the next season and beyond between their "losses" and the CBA, if fans aren't allowed in at or near capacity. And I don't see that happening by Opening Day 2021; by year end is a possibility. In terms of strictly baseball: Best case scenario: A full season (I suspect owners will try to weasel out of paying players for lack of attendance, just like this year when they demanded additional cuts beyond pro-rated salaries). A return to the prior postseason format (not 16 team every team sniffing .500 is in). I wouldn't hold my breath on this one. Postseason will be played, and fans will be able to attend at home stadiums, at a rate of 50-100%. Worst case scenario: Owners lock out / players walk out due to owner demands for additional salary cuts. Season and or post season not finished / conducted, or another slashing of 60-100 games to hold a second straight farcical season. 16 team playoffs (or more, NHL increased the count to 24 teams). Another off-season of collusion, this time with COVID as an excuse, forces a walkout. 1994 occurred without COVID, but with Jerry. Anything can happen with either between now and a year from now. I think the more interesting question is as a fan, would you be willing to attend games without a vaccine? There are many die-hards here, but I don't see a large portion of the populace willing to plunk down money to sit in a packed ballpark, with or without masks.

Stone's Throwing of Shade at Ricky
The logic is simple. Which of the three GMs would you hire based on their GM track record? Hahn's moves from 2013-2015 put the team into tanking mode, and under Friends of Jerry logic bought him another 10 years of job security. The other two GMs turned around three clubs without tanking, two of which are in much smaller markets (TB and Milwaukee).

Bulls Gar Pax had a winning record before being shitcanned, White Sox Gar Pax were effective 2013, White Sox Gar was George Costanza before 2013. Maybe you forgot. By your logic, Mike Ditka should still be coaching the Bears, Joe Maddon should still be with the Cubs, John McDonough should be President of the Blackhawks. Most people are held accountable in their jobs. The rest are Friends of Jerry.

.There are 12 million excuses for Encarnacion's existence, each and every one is owned by Rick Hahn. “The numbers speak for themselves in terms of continuing to be a dangerous presence and an outstanding source of power for the last decade-plus,” general manager Rick Hahn said Thursday after the Sox announced they agreed to terms with Encarnacion on a one-year, $12 million deal that has a club option for 2021. “We feel he’s someone who’s going to not only improve our run-scoring, but be a significant positive within our clubhouse, as well.” Also, you have it backwards. Mazara's only saving attribute over Parrot is the fact that Mazara owns a glove and can play an acceptable RF (he is better than his counterpart in LF in fielding). If anything, they should DH Jimenez, and platoon the three corner outfielders. They really should have signed 1 or 2 corner outfielders, and passed on Mazara, Parrot and "Elite" Grandal, but our front office sucks except for tanking.

The Sox sucked whether they were tanking or not under Hahn. Hahn's trades and free agent signings sucked when he was attempting to win. Keuchel looks like the only possible good 2020 acquisition. And the Sox had "One Shining Moment" for the decade plus he was an assistant GM. Unless you are a government employee or a Friend of Jerry, if you suck at your job for extended periods, you are gone. White Sox Gar Pax say hey, our team sucks, let's suck for five more years so we are not accountable for another ten years, five years for a rebuild and five more years to allow their "plan" to play out. So 13 years guaranteed regardless. The Hahn apologists here are legion. If the Sox go 90-72 the next eight years, Hahn still have a losing record under White Sox Gar / Pax. Anything good that happens, Hahn is genius. Anything bad, oh that's Kenny Williams' fault. Trade away future MVPs? Oh, that's Kenny's Fault. Sign ancient free agents? Oh, Kenny made Rick do that. Sox lose, oh it's Ricky's fault. Sox win, oh, they won despite Ricky. Who signed Ricky, oh, that was Kenny's fault. Who extended Ricky? Oh, that was Kenny Williams fault. Even "Elite" Grandal would have trouble framing Hahn's two decades with the club as successful.

What is McCann's pace, using fWAR, bWAR, or BP's WARP? Oh yes, McCann is the superior catcher this season using any of the three, all of which account for pitch framing. What did the Dodger's internal metrics say on resigning Grandal? Oh yes, that's right, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. What did the Brewers internal metrics say on resigning Grandal at the White Sox' price? Oh yes, that's right, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Andrew Freeman's Accomplishments: Three playoff appearances with the micro-payroll Tampa Devil Rays including an American League Pennant. Division Championships every single year with the Dodgers, Two National League Pennants, two World Series losses to cheating scandal teams (perennial cheaters Boston and Houston). David Stern's Accomplishments: Rebuilt small market Brewers with Free Agents signings that, wait for it, actually helped the team. Won Division title within three years of taking over, losing in the NLCS to Andrew Freeman. Rick Hahn's Accomplishments: Became a Friend of Jerry permanent employee for life (Jerry or his) in 2002. Since his promotion before the 2013 season, his teams have a 491–642 record and had no post season appearances or winning seasons until they clinched a playoff spot in 2020.

Magic Number: Playoffs - 0; Division - 4
Cleveland pushed Bieber to Wednesday vs. Giolito. They are starting Quantrill tomorrow. Liked how Lopez has pitched his last two outings, hope he has another in him tomorrow.

I agree with the Big Hurt about Robert
I've been calling for this for weeks. Looks like Roberts is adjusting the past two games with four walks. Hope he continues to do so if he isn't getting anything to hit, but you need someone better than Mazara to back him up. This should be the everyday lineup: SS Anderson 3B Moncada C/1B/DH Grandal (Catches Keuchel/Cease starts) 1B/DH Abreu LF Jimenez CF Roberts C/DH McCann RF Mazara / Engel / Dyson 2B Biggie Smalls

Asking for a friend Steve Stone @stevestone Replying to @michael62477894 No comment

D.J. also said during the radio broadcast he feels the team really wants to win the Division as well, not sure what Stone said or why. A few positives I took from the game were: 1. Robert's second consecutive two walk game. Pitchers have been feeding him a heavy diet of away sliders he kept swinging feebly at. He is making adjustments and laying off, taking the walk, or four, today and yesterday. 2. Jimenez had another great game. Nice to see him run out the ball late, indicating he was OK after the scare early in the ballgame. 3. The team battled back after an early 4 spot, kept plugging away until the final at bat where they could have tied it against one of the best closers. Ricky's Boys Don't Quit!!!!

Carlos Lee, Greg Luzinski and Carlton Fisk were gold glove LFers compared to Eloy.

That negates his only positive, the fact he owns a glove. Rather have Eloy DH and platoon LF.

I hope you are right. They’ll still likely play games with service time as they did keeping Madrigal in Schaumburg, despite the fact the new CBA may render all of these games meaningless. Not every single rookie is worth doing this with, the two who signed extensions were, because their ceilings are much higher.

I can see Hahn picking up Parrot’s option and keeping Mazara. Can also see him doubling down on 12 against a ten.

Tigers have many holes, the sox had a few, Mazara and Parrot as bad or worse than 2019 options. Grandal’s bat appreciated, the argument is money was better allocated to the holes (RF and DH) which have grown deeper this season.

I agree with the sentiment of your post, but disagree about the number 3. Cease lines up for number three, that is why he was slotted Sunday and Dunning today.
