Now Marte would not of solved our 2nd base problem, but with Marte, I could of lived with a Garcia/Gonzalez and whoever at 2nd. Marte would of cost us nothing but money. BUT we’re also looking to do things cheaper. The way we’ve handled this year so far, somebody must of put a gun to Hahn’s head and forced him to sign Hendriks. Thank God someone did. We did not need a shortstop, we need : 1. 2nd Baseman--Chris Taylor or Story (if he's willing to move to 2nd) works for me. 2. 1 starting pitcher, Rodon still out there, or a trade for a starter, at the rate pitchers are being signed, there may be no free ageents left to sign. 3. a right fielder if you're not platooning Vaughn and Sheets. Conforto/Castellanos would be nice at this point.

We lost out on Marte, Semien, Buxton and Frasier (trades would have been needed for these players). No 2nd Basemen yet, No Right Fielder yet, no rplacement for Rodon, and i don't want to totslly count on Kopech yet, he needs to show me he can pitch back to starts of 5 or 6 innings. Kuechle is older and i've lost confindence in him completely. Lopez is a HUGE question mark as a starter. Yes we have Lucas, Lance, and Dylan. Crochet i don't think is ready yet. Keep him in the bullpen to start the season. Castellano or Conforto for Right Field?? Or do we platoon Vaughn and Sheets and put more money into pitching. Chris Taylor or Trevor Story for 2nd Base?? Trades?? Who knows what is happening, although i never thought we'd get Hendriks. we just will have to wait again and take the crumbs that will be left. I think by December 1st we'll know.

The Sox blew there wad last year. Hendriks, extending Lynne ( great move ! ). They will not spend $200 million on any player let alone $300 million. That’s what Simien will get. They have to extend Giolitto, Anderson is very cheap and they better extend and take care of him like they did Abreu and Lynne. These cheap and well thought bargains on Jimenez, Robert and Moncada were GREAT MOVES. These guys will get disgruntled in a year or 2 when they what the market is like. JR made a ballsy move significantly keeping the payroll low with these future superstars. Anderson is going to want to get paid. We have too many 1st Basemen and too many DH’s. Somethings got to give. Collins or Sevy is not the answer. Who is??? We’ll see.

Rodon should be made a qualifying offer. 18.4 million for 1 year? He’s only 28 and change, if he signs GREAT, if not we get draft pick or picks and maybe some international signing dollars, or all of the above. He worth the risk for 1 year. With this year under his belt, a winter of rest, he may back even better. Show me a 28 year old we can get that can throw between 95 and 99 other than Rodon, that’s available?? Don’t think so. I believe that the bullpen can be even better next year. Crotchet pitches the 6th, and even the 5th if necessary, need to get him stretched out ASAP, Tepera, if resigned and we really need him resigned pitches the 7th. Bummer looked like the old Bummer of 2 years ago, if so he’s the guy in the 8th and of course the Aussie closes. Ruiz would be long relief along with Marshall if we can get the 2020 Marshall back. Marshall, Ruiz, Crochet, Tepera, Bummer and Hendriks, we need 1 or 2 more, that’ll be decided in camp who can emerge Remember, this is all predicated on Bummer in spring training being the Bummer we saw in his 6 or 7 appearances down the stretch this year.

This is NOT Hahn’s fault entirely. He did fuck up and trade Tatis for a piece of shit pitcher who’s name I refuse to mention. HE DID TRADE FOR Kimbrel which could turnout to almost as bad as the Tatis deal. I can almost guarantee you TLR was not his choice as manager, that’s all JR. Hahn did some great this also: Kopech, Moncada, Hendriks, Vaughn, Sheets, Lynne, Robert, Cease, Jimenez, Grandal, Crotchet, Tepara , and KATZ. Hahn needs to find a second baseman. Needs to figure out how to play Sheets and Vaughn everyday. Need a better backup catcher. Collins or Sevy just don’t cut it. Need to extend Lucas and POSSIBLY Rodon. Need to find out if Burger can play second or is he just a 3rd baseman, if so trade home for something, he won’t and can’t replace Moncada. Can they win 3 straight? I’m not so crazy about the Kimbrel trade any longer. Kimbrel is starting to look like Bummer. One day good, one day bad. We paid a heavy price for an 8th inning pitcher that is about .500 in holds. I don’t know if he feels out of place not closing. He had an opportunity Sunday again and blew it. Tempera seems to be a steal at this point. Bummer may be ready to reclaim his 8th inning spot if Kimbrel doesn’t wake up. Is the American League a tougher league with better hitters?? I’ve always thought saw. Hernandez is not doing his job offensively. I believe he’s only hit 1 home run, maybe 2. Again an NL player facing AL pitchers. Better glove than Nicky would ever be but Nick is going to be a legit 300 hitter in the NL. I miss Huer, he’s thriving. We can carry Hernandez especially when TA comes back.
