Not using the best relievers was a bad decision but in reality one of the top guys could have just as easily given up one run so at some point the lineup needs to do their part.
Oh, and don't bat Vaughn 2nd.
My grandparents don't really have a use for a Smart TV, so they're not going to just run out and buy one to watch one Sox game. They really only watch Sox games, ND football games, and the news.
I think it's 100% this. Sheets is a guy who has a potential future either with the Sox or as part of a trade, so he needs to develop. He can't do that with 5 AB per week. Lamb has no future with this team so he can sit on the bench and wait to pinch hit for Zavala.
That's why is so nice to have the entire lineup back. Last two nights, Abreu couldn't hit anything and TA and Eloy went nuts. Tonight, TA and Eloy are struggling but Jose is picking them up. A couple key guys having a bad week doesn't totally screw your offense like it did last month.
What if MLB said that they won't send their players to states with COVID surges and force the games to be relocated? Maybe that would get the attention of the governors of FL and TX, among others.
The issue isn't really about the relative performances of Hernandez and Madrigal, it's that Hernandez is only under control through 2022 and Madrigal through 2026.
