I recorded and watched the game this morning. Japan's pitching was just too good. The US was always going to be a longshot to win gold with Japan pausing their season to let their best players (sans Ohtani) to play.

I generally want the best players playing despite platoon splits, but Alzolay's splits are so extreme that I make an exception.

Alzolay has really, really extreme splits. Allowing .525 OPS to righties and 1.022 to lefties. I would have played Vaughn over Eloy, but I think sitting Engel is justified in this case.

Where I want them is Siberia, though I doubt that happens.

I would do: Hernandez 4, Goodwin 8, Abreu 3, Sheets 9, Moncada 5, Vaughn 7, Lamb DH, Leury 6, Collins 2 EDIT: Nevermind, forgot there's no DH.
