  1. Nice double. I think Castro should play against most lefties. AJ's been great, but it's time to platoon them or come close to it.
  2. I think I finally benched Lexi on my fantasy team today. I'll take credit thank you very much if he hits a few more dingers today. Finally gave up on Lexi and BOOM. I'll take it, though. (Pardon the fantasy team reference)
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 08:26 PM) He's married to Leslie Visser, I think. Good upgrade for him. He's violating the "never date or marry someone two or more better than you on the 1-10 scale rule" I think. Great line. Made me smile. Why wouldn't all pitchers work as fast as Mark? It seems the only way to pitch.
  4. I can't believe Dick Stockton is still working. Nice career.
  5. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 06:38 AM) This and what flyleaf said 100%. You are wanting a scenario which is a fantasy. It's not going to happen. You either need to hit it since you're only infatuated with her, or move the hell on. Else you're going to continue to be her whooping boy who provides emotional support. That's what girlfriends are for. And that's what you're acting like, her girlfriend she can tell all her problems to and come to for advice. The person who's going to catch her when she falls. Meanwhile, your own damn friend was making moves on her as he can see her for what she is, even when drunk. Grab your package, reattach it to where it's supposed to be, and grab the situation by the horns. You will definitely end up at the bottom if you continue on this path. I wonder if in every guy/girl friend relationship one party wishes it could go further. It seems that way to me. One half of the equation usually wants more. The question is: would this girl want to date you or have you as a boyfriend candidate IF she wasn't dating the other guy or are you already in the dreaded "friend" category? I think it is a bit harsh to insult the girl and call her names on here. I mean she was flirting heavily in the pool but it seems like she wasn't even close to even kissing the roommate. She grabbed his dick but that was to get him off her in a flirtatious kind of way. A good way to get out of this would be to tell her flat out: "I like you. I think you are fun to be with and are very hot. Consider calling me if you ever leave your bf." Or text it to her and see what she does to that one.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) Greg, the Twins would be 14 games under .500 if we'd just played them decently, considering they're without.....let's see, only Jason Kubel, Justin Morneau, Denard Span and Delmon Young. The only reason they're going to make a run at DET and CLE is because of us. If you remove 2005 and 2006 from Ozzie's managerial career, all those numbers will be well below .500 against the Central or Twins or Gardenhire. Do you really consider that successful when we've had the highest or second highest payroll in the division for a decade now (either us or Detroit)??? It's like the University of Illinois basketball team losing 20 out of 25 times to the Iowa Hawkeyes. It just shouldn't happen. You can't even make the argument that the Twins are more talented/dominant in 2011. Last year, it was clear. This year, they've used over half their AAA Rochester roster. Greg, let's say you are looking for someone to manage your retirement accounts. The manager was one of the top quintile or quartile for 4 out of 5 years (2007 the exception). But he's been very very average the last 3 years and all your peers are getting 15-25% rates of return and you're barely keeping up with inflation. Do you go into your broker's office and applaud him for doing a solid job half a decade ago or are you more concerned about his recent performance, especially when many of his peers are outperforming him? That is true that the Twins would be buried without the White Sox and KC this year. The only time they've resembled a halfway decent team is against Chicago and KC.
  7. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) Um, hello? Perhaps you didn't hear, but Dunn and Rios have talked and they're going to be carrying the load in the 2nd half. So I wouldn't go around questioning him like that. I love the way Dunn said "second half." It's like everybody is just writing off the Minnesota series as 4 more losses, then we'll get to business the second half. These losses add up. It's going to be very tough to go from fourth to first the second half.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2428116:date=Jul 9, 2011 -> 06:48 AM:name=Dick Allen)-->QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 06:48 AM) <!--quotec-->It seems like it was a nice speech, however, thel Blue Jays still don't draw very well. I will say this, I do agree with his premise. I've been saying for years if the White Sox spent as much time trying to figure out how to kick Minnesota's ass as they do kissing it, they wouldn't be in the quandry they are currently in. They just seem to accept the Twins are better than them, no matter what the standings or the line ups say. And that starts with our coaching staff. Ozzie is constantly praising the Twins and how they "play baseball the right way". I can't stand that s***. Why can't he go to the press and say "I hate those f***ers and we'll do whatever it takes to beat them". Bring some hatred and anger to the table. This team continues to rape and pillage us year after year. I'm so sick of this cowardly lion act where we accept defeat before the series. If Ozzie can't find a way for us to beat the Twins, then KW needs to go find another manager right away, because we'll never win the division going 4-15 against them every year. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) I'll state this again. At least through May 2009, Ozzie was 51-47 against Gardenhire. You could have argued we were outcoached/outmanaged down the stretch in 2006, but there were a number of well-documented reasons that team finally ran out of gas. You had 2003, but that could be placed on Manuel. But 7-30? To go from a winning record to putting up the worst record in baseball of any team against another (with over 20 games played) during that time period. That's almost impossible to do, even if you try. There has to be a deeper explanation which nobody in the White Sox organization seems to be able to acknowledge, admit or comes to terms with. 1.) Excellent posts. Cowardly lion act is a good way to put it. And you are right 2-17 or 4-15 against one team will cost you the division against that team every year. It's going to be tough to turn around at this point. 2.) 7-30. You are right. It's almost impossible. And it's going to get worse. This is crazy. The big problem is Detroit is close to having the same confidence against us. And believe me, KC plays differently against the White Sox. KC is an abysmal baseball team but plays the Sox with a different swagger, it's like they know they are better. Very weird dynamic.
  9. When's the last time we've just owned the Central Division teams like they own us? Was it the WS year? Can you imagine the dynamics in both clubhouses when we play Detroit and Minnie? It's going to be difficult to turn this around. Last night is a perfect example. Even when we score early it doesn't matter. There's no way to kill the mojo when a team like Minnie is playing with the house's money. We'd have to beat them 5-6 times in a row just to get Minnesota or Detroit thinking it's an actual competent opponent. The dynamic of the situation is to merely pencil in another W for Minnie and L for Chicago. I mean this is a lousy Minnesota team owning another team.
  10. QUOTE (djcollie03 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 07:12 AM) I have a hard time believing that no one on this team just goes ballistic in the club house. It's difficult to watch a team that seems so apathetic. Perhaps it's time to bring back the blow-up dolls that made the appearance in Toronto a few years ago? Was at the game with the kids tonight and had to control myself to not scream obscenities. I just don't know if they have the desire to win. On a related side note, they showed Will Ohman's photo and a stat update tonight right before he gave up the three run bomb - Ohman's last hold 4/11 v. the Tampa Bay Rays. Nothing like flashing that up on the scoreboard and having the next pitch sail into the left field seats. This team is hard to like. Man we always seem to have some guys like Ohman who are as bad as they come. What's it like being with the kids watching a team as frustrating as the White Sox? Do they still enjoy the game or do they get mad when we ultimately get owned by Minnie again?
  11. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 04:32 PM) The 5 run first was a blip on the radar yesterday. It's hard to expect more than 3 runs a game from this offense with so many players (Beckham, Dunn, Rios, Morel, Vizquel, Teahan, Pierre, Quentin) making so many outs. It comes down to Mark Buerhle winning the game for the White Sox. Can he hold the Twins to 2 or less runs today? He should be the one guy to keep them running all over the bases, but can he hold the Twins in check? I've been saying we'll go 2-17 vs. Minnesota this year if we are lucky with the only possible wins coming with Mark on the mound. Not saying he'll be lights out, but our only chance is him having one of those Buehrle games where he pitches a shutout and we somehow score on a wild pitch and win 1-0. Still think we'll lose. They might even shell Mark, never know. Just two more losses til the merciful break. Too bad after that it's more of the Central.
  12. I could see them trading Viciedo for Granderson and two minor leaguers or to the Braves for some stiffs. If KW is gonna trade him, it will be at the break or shortly after cause he hasn't been up to make us all fall in baseball love with him again.
  13. Way to go, KW and Oz. Yeah we didn't need any changes entering this series, none at all. Well guys you are 2 down and 2 to go with the smart money on the Twinks in the next two. Dummies all of u. Dayan woulda given us a spark. How can you guys not see that????
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 03:06 AM) Well then agree to extremely disagree, because I'm not going to sit here and try to argue who knows this girl more, me or some people on a message board. Just because I am infatuated with this girl does not mean I don't see her with flaws. She is f***ed up in a lot of ways, but I would never characterize her as a whore/slut/hooker etc. I'm not budging on that, and in the scheme of things here, it's not even the issue at hand. This is what gets me. You just admitted you are infatuated with her, but you get mad at me and others when we say to make a move and try to "hit it" like we are immoral. It seems to me you want to set it up neatly. Ask her if she wants a relationship. Ask her if she wants to date you. Ask her politely if she wants to drop her boyfriend for you. Commendable, but my gosh, nice guys do finish last. You are not going to win her this way. You told me YOU ARE INFATUATED with her. That means you want sex. What is wrong with trying to make a move and see if it happens. This scenario you want is a joke. She will say you are a sweet guy and she wants to be friends. Period. Right?? If you want this scenario to end this way, then you at least take command and tell her you do not want to talk to her much outside of work any more out of respect to her BF Period. What are you trying to get out of this? A conversation with her that has her simply tell you she desires to be friends? What's the story about her saying you have no dick? What was that all about?
  15. Pick up this guy for your Sunday fantasy teams NOW. I am.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) I told Balta Dunn was having one of the worst seasons of the modern era. And I got hyperbole thrown in my face. That hyperbole thing was least valuable thread of the year. Lot of national writers/broadcasters agree with those of us who deemed Dunn one of the worst hitters in Sox history (to this date).
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 01:32 PM) Nope. Ledge jumping can't commence until the conclusion of Sunday's games. I'd rather push somebody on the Sox off the ledge (into a pool of water of course) rather than jump myself. We have as much chance of winning one of the next two as Casey Anthony does of deciding to come clean and admit to the murder in an upcoming interview or book. The only time we beat the Twins this year (if we beat 'em) will be when we're long out of the "race" and somehow Mark pitches a shutout and we win 1-0 or something crazy.
  18. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 04:34 AM) I honestly, SERIOUSLY feel that we might not win a single game vs. the Twins this season, and I don't think I'm being dramatic, either. The law of averages suggests we go 2-17. Though I really can't see a scenario in which we win a game. Do we play 'em 19 times? I'll go with 2-17.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 03:45 AM) Id be fine with just getting rid of Ozzie and giving all the players a fresh start to prove that they deserve to be on the team. If they dont shape up, anyone I could move would be gone. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 03:54 AM) Kenny has to go. I wish he'd quit now, and just let Hahn handle the rebuild. Ugh, maybe give the players a week. If Oz and KW get fired on Monday, let the current team play Detroit WITH Dayan. If the team gets owned again, then start trading everybody that isn't a starting pitcher.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 03:33 AM) Why did Ozzie do something strange in the 4th? Because hes Ozzie. I honestly feel hes cost us a significant amount of games, but it seems like nothing is changing. Not even sure what they should do, Id trade a bunch of guys, get rid of coaches and see what happens. Probably still be around 500 but at least not annoying. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 03:36 AM) I will take great pleasure when the following personnel are no longer part of this organization: Ozzie Guillen Kenny Williams Buddy Bell Jerry Reinsdorf ( He can't live forever, can he? ) AJ Pierzynski Don Cooper Greg Walker Gavin Floyd Alex Rios Adam Dunn Mark Teahen I'm in a really bad mood right now, I'm sure there are about 5-10 more missing from this list 1.) Agreed. There should be a housecleaning starting with Oz and KW at the break. Fire Ozzie and give him time to negotiate with Florida, let Baines manage the team the rest of the year for fun, then pick the best guy in offseason. Let that Hahn guy replace KW and start dealing and dealing. 2.) I would agree, except I'd keep AJ for a straight platoon with Castro. I'd add several other players to dump as well as the ones you mentioned. Rios, Dunn, Teahen are good starts, plus Juan, Omar, Lilly, etc.
  21. LOL. What a great team we have on the South Side this year. Two more to go then all star break before more carnage in Detroit. Yikes. Bring on the Yankees and Red Sox baby! We can beat them; we just can't beat the Central.
  22. If the Sox, as expected, drop the next two games, I will give 'em truly a grade of D- for the first half. What say you? I wouldn't balk at a big fat F, though.
  23. Next thing you know the Twins will steal the Sox lunch money. This has got to be embarrassing for the Sox until they pick up their paychecks twice a month or however many times they get paid. Maybe the fans should just boo every pitch in the Twins series. Change the karma.
