Then please also start threads on Dotel, Liney, Rios, Pods (to discuss his baserunning), Cox and his great calls at third base, Lexi (for his first half), Mark (for his post perfect game performance), Bobby (for his six blown saves and 'soft' saves as one poster put it, Castro, Randy Williams. Thank you.

This just isn't correct. He has not been a "butcher" in right field for years.
-
Bolt, you and I disagree so much it's amazing. How can you be this high on f***ing Jayson Nix?? He is not real good, period. And he shouldn't be trying to whack it out of the park, period. How can you not agree with Oz? I will admit Nix is better than Lilly and is a good utility option. And I wouldn't say Nix has a "great glove."
-
And why should he continue to catch s***? The season is over and he GAWN. So why kick him? People have made their point.
-
I agree he's played himself out of a position in right. He's a DH now. Now you could ask, "Why not consider it an off second half defensively since you are saying he just had an off season offensively?" I don't know. I just have a feeling he can still hit, but those big long legs just can't get moving in right field as much any more. I disagree that he's always been awful in right. He's been OK in right his Sox career, but the second half did seem like he was worse than normal. If the Sox or somebody decides he can still roam the outfield, I'd be OK with that, but I'd tend to agree with you (just from my own eyes) that he's a risk out there in right at the age of 36 and up. Would interesting to hear what KW and the scouts really think.
-
He'll turn 36 before next season. I don't think that's too old, but I see what you are saying. If the Sox think he's suddenly hit the brick wall at 36 and will never hit again, fine. I just don't think so. I think he has some good hitting years left. As far as this site ... look, aren't we all in agreement he's gone?? The Sox are going to let him go. So that leaves you with two choices: Bash him or graciously talk about him. Until I get banned, I'm not going to let people treat Dye like he is horses***. He had a horrible half; so did a lot of Sox. I'm trying to lay off guys I don't like. I just hope people shut up about Dye. He's not coming back, people, so why bury him??
-
And I don't hate Rios, either. I don't. I hate what my own eyes saw of him this season. I have said a million times he gets a clean slate. He's 0-for-0 now. But many aren't giving Dye close to a clean slate.
-
I think Dye has good hitting left in him and he will do fine for 2 more years at least in his new home. Yes I think he slumped, struggled, whatever you want to call it. I don't know why some people get the benefit of the doubt as having an off year and will certainly rebound and a stud like Dye gets none of that same regard. Dye also has a proven track record of excellence. It's obvious he won't be back; I just hope we acquire bats to replace Dye/Thome. You know what ... we are going to miss both. Our pitching will not alone win us a division.
-
The I hate Dye gang seriously needs to give it a rest as well.
-
Can you forgive the others who lay down and died? I won't go through all the names.
-
We are going to miss his production. My question is: Why do the Dye naysayers immediately claim he's finished and not just say he had an off year? Rios ... oh he had an off year. Swisher last year ... oh he had an off year. But Dye is finished? Dye will have 2 good years with whomever acquires him. I'm just saying KW needs to replace some big time production in Dye and Thome. Why can't some people just say Dye had an off year or rotten second half?? I know why. We know him too well and people are sick of him and want new blood. Hope the new blood can produce like the Jermaine of the first half.
-
I agree with Jeremy. I don't get all the optimism. Even in our next to last game, Johnny got hit. It's not like these starters are assured invincible status. I hope KW approaches the offseason like he has a mediocre at best baseball team and tries to fix it the best he can. We're not that good, folks.

I just can't imagine a team giving Pods a great contract. He should return here for one year. I mean he was great, but it was his comeback season. He's too old for a team to necessarily count on him. He hit great this year, no doubt about it, and was healthy. But for a team to give him some great contract, I can't imagine that happening. One year, 3 mill from the Sox? Or is that too much? One year 2.2 mill?

Predict now; What Happens on Sunday w/Twins, Tigers?

For the glass half empty fans, both teams have a lot to lose in the playoff. Minnie will have lost 2 playoffs in a row, finally getting this one in their home dome where they have a fantastic advantage. It would be a major disappointment. Though the good fans would realize with no Morneau they had a great run just to catch the Tigers. Showed a lot of fortitude. Detroit will have choked away a title that was theirs since May. Would be a bitter pill for a team that has had high expectations since Cabrera joined the team and not fulfilled them. It would be considered a monumental choke. Didnt Detroit lead by as many as 7 or 8 games in mid September? -
I love Hawk and Stone as a team. Great broadcast today to end a lousy sesson. They had a great season in the booth. I love Hawk.
-
How bout Hudson be one of our relievers starting NOW. I'd rather see him out there than the usual suspects.
-
It's definitely the worst day of the year I feel. End of baseball. At least under KW and Oz we've had meaningful baseball for the majority of most of the seasons.
-
Sure hope so. The Rios I saw was a trainwreck at the plate. Tall guy with weird crouch who hit one bomb otherwise many many feeble outs the times I was watching. He is 0 for 0 for the 2010 season so that is a plus. He gets a clean slate. It would be nice if he had a huge April.

I think we may have swept Cleveland once. That may be it. We didn't do much sustained winning all year. It really was a blah season. No momentum except I believe one decent run where we won eight of 10 or nine of 11 or something. We need to fix a lot of things for next year. Starting 0-0 in April won't magically make some problems of this lethargic team disappear. -
Very true. I forgot about all the extra days, starting with the MN Football delay.
-
Will next season's theme be, "Blame it on Rios?" Or will he bounce back? He truly sucked as did many other Sox in the second half of '09.

Rios needs to get good and drunk and forget this season. Assuming he cares about how bad he was for us. -

Granderson saves the season. Wow. If that falls, no decision for Verlander. -

True, also we are not the best hitting unit. We rarely win 3 in a row.
