  1. How's big Jim Thome been doing in LA? Anybody have his exact stats? How can he be happy pinch hitting?
  2. Neither one of those guys will be sad next season. They will join teams and I believe they'll do well. Bobby isn't finished. Neither is Dye. Dye is in the most puzzling slump in history; Bobby has still had his moments of greatness this year. Somebody would be wise to pick both of them up.
  3. I think so only because it's the smart percentage play. Maybe not in the 10th inning, but certainly in the 13th inning when you can't score a run. I wouldn't have a problem with him bunting in the 10th, but I see your point. You wouldn't have Pujols bunt. But it's all moot anyway cause I believe CQ is one of our guys who can't bunt. He'd foul two of 'em off then hit. What if it's Pods getting on base in the 10th and Beckham next? Tie game. Gordon should also move him over. They walk the next hitter and now you have two outs to get a hit and win it at home. A winning team delivers that hit. A team like ours this year strands the runner and it doesn't matter anyhow. But in tie games late, sometimes bunts are in order IMO. I trust Oz to have a feel for the game and know when to call for one.
  4. I show up after wins, too. Give me a break. I watched the entire extra innings of the Mariners game and wanted us to win. I'm serious with my question. We never talk about the Twins and they are about ready to play for the marbles. They are only four back in loss column and get to play the Tigers. I really was curious if people though Det would lose out to the Twinks.
  5. Maybe it's the curse of centerfield at the Cell and we need to bring out a picture of Aaron Roward to cf and burn it. Nobody has done anything in cf since Aaron. Pods falls all over himself when he's out there. Every fly ball is an adventure. Rios, who had a fair track record, can't buy a base hit now that he's in cf here. Wise draws venom from all fans when he's out there, the catch notwithstanding. BA's career ruined by his inability to hit while playing cf for us. Is it a curse??? Time to exorcise the cf demons at the Cell. Rios' career is at stake otherwise.
  6. To those of you who hate the bunt let me at least ask your take. It's the 10th inning in tie game. We are at the Cell and AJ gets on base. Do you want CQ to bunt him over? The answer should be yes. The odds of scoring him from second with one out are in theory pretty damn good at that point if you can bunt him over. Now the answer is no if CQ can't bunt the damn ball like most big leaguers. Most can't bunt. In a tie game in extras, why wouldn't you bunt? I just think Oz wants guys to be able to bunt the times we need a f***ing bunt. He's not going to bunt a lot in the AL. People are panicking. With a power hitting team, he's not going to be giving up outs early. He knows baseball.
  7. I'm big on the season Mark and Danks has had. Educate me on Floyd. Has he been just as nasty? I know his record is something like 12-12. The games I've watched he hasn't been as good as Mark/Danks.
  8. Both equallly. People take closers for granted. Bobby has been way more reliable and excellent than alll our middle relievers/set up guys who get a free pass when they suck (except for the much hated Liney). Bobby rules!!! Bobby will be missed. You wait.
  9. You think the Twins will overtake Detroit? Will the Sox win all six vs. Detroit? Stay tuned.
  10. I don't know about this quit stuff, although tonight Ozzie I guess mentioned the guys have quit on him. I think everything you say about the Cubs you could say about the Sox. I don't know why you give them the beneift of the doubt as far as not quitting while saying our team quit. Jermaine I don't think is trying to make outs and look this bad; ditto Rios. Bobby I don't think quit tonight when he grooved those pitches; same with Liney. Liney just sucks and Bob is no longer an automatic save. I dispute you saying we quit and the Cubs haven't quit. I don't know how you come up with that. The Cubs have played and lost to some horses*** teams of late as well.
  11. Give it to Zack. That ERA is unheard of.
  12. If Oz really promised a lot of changes as was in Cowley's brief item, he's going to have to play Flowers somewhere.
  13. 97 pitches .. he could have finished and probably should have finished, but I understand why Oz would give it to Bobby. It's what managers do.
  14. I don't know how many pitches he's thrown, but in the old days he'd have gotten the shutout. As you know, nowadays it's automatic to give it to the closer.
  15. Oh no. The Wise topic will be back, cause you are right, he'll probably be in the lineup.
  16. I don't think we're going to have to worry about Ozzie bunting and playing NL ball in the early innings. I seem to recall us messing up some bunts in late inning situations which probably necessitated his outburst. I'm more interested in tonight's outburst on Cowley's twitter. Who is he going to bench if he said the guys have quit on him and changes are coming?? Bobby was the key goat tonight, so he has to be one of them, but judging from his look in the dugout when Ichiro got his hit ... I don't know if he's quit. He just got hit. That would leave Dye, Rios, Liney (he also might have just got hit rather than quitting), maybe Lexi? AJP went 0-6 but he's been great. Quote of the year: "They horse(bleep)? Yes, they are.” (Oz on his team after tonight's game. “If they give up on me, I give up on them.’’
  17. I don't think you can say we should never bunt. Occasionally, like in an extra inning game when you are the home team and the guy gets a lead off hit, bunting is in order. Or usually in order. I mean you get him to second and whack a single. But we more often than not can't put down a f***ing bunt. How can you argue that a bunt isn't called for in extra innings sometimes??
  18. Wow. Well, he better mean Bobby as well, cause up to that point we had an efficient victory. Juding from the ENTIRE game, he better mean Dye, Rios. WHo else? And Liney.
  19. Good point on the speed. You make good arguments there. CQ definitely has to get healthy and not be a .230 hitter. Little concerned if Pods, AJP and Paulie can repeat these kind of seasons. Maybe they can. We kind of wasted excellent seasons from all of them. Rios may need a new approach more than a fresh start. We have to replace Dye and solve the bullpen issues. If Peavy is a true dominant ace, maybe he'll set the tone for a strong rotation. We shall see.
  20. Just think, if poor Jermaine had blooped a single in extra innings, we still probably would have won this game. He's in the worst slump in the history of humankind. Bobby giving up 2 dingers????
  21. Not trying to argue with you. I just am not convinced. Pods, AJ and Paulie ... can they continue this excellence as they continue to age? Dye, Rios? Bobby, Liney? Bullpen questions. Not a lot of speed. Hope Oz can push the right buttons next year. As an Oz lover, I fear for his job if we have a disappointing season again.
  22. I don't know about that Balta. Another way to look at it is it's a very weak division and we have never even come close to excaping the .500ism. I guess we can chalk it up to a bad year and start anew in the spring. The hope is we'll magically be a .600, not a .500 team. Not saying it can't happen, but now we have to add closer to our list of possible problems.
  23. Can't argue with that. They might just decide all we need is a fresh start next spring, however. That might be dangerous trotting out Liney again next season.
  24. 5-7 since that win over the Cubs. Losers. Hope next year it all changes. I'm afraid Oz is gonna be on the hot seat if we don't get off to a good start next year. Team just drops too many games. Next year needs to be a different story.
  25. Long plane ride home for the losers.
