"More bunting"
Exactly. Every year there's a story from the loser teams' managers on how spring trianing will be different and we'll learn how to bunt. Never happens. Don't get all worked up. What Oz wants (and he probably won't ever get) is for a guy to be able to actually put down a bunt during the few occasions he calls for it. Stories like this are common this time of year. "Spring training will be different!" Sure, Oz. Not exactly. It'll be the same with a few more bunts maybe or some speech about how to bunt and showing of a video or two. They might waste a cuople days trying to teach these slugs how to actuallly put down a sac bunt.

We're 5-6 since beating the Cubs. Can you imagine if we just were winning series of late? We'd have cut the deficit vs. Detroit to a reasonable margin entering those six games vs. them. 5-6? Wasted opportunity.

Justin Morneau done for the rest of the year
Your last post makes it sound less threatening than the above sentence. If you didn't mean it as badly as it sounded, fine. But you asked if I was a Twins fan, then said "there's nothing wrong about wishing injury that you did not induce." That means you are wishing injury on a human being. Why don't you show some class and edit that post and get it off the board. It truly is a bad, bad sentiment and makes you appear like a classless fool whether you meant it that way or not. I also get defensive when discussing back injuries because any surgery on that area is so serious. I know a guy who had a fairly minor back problem, operated on and he's using a cane now and he's only in his late 30s.

2009 AL Central Thread
Yup. I do think they need Granderson to kick ass to have any chance in the playoffs and have the rotation work so Verlander goes in Game One.

I also would rather have the Twins for some reason. I might change my mind if they kick our ass in the Cell. We really should win those games or at least 2 of 3.

How old are you? If you truly wish injury on a fellow human being, IMO something is wrong with you or the way you were raised. If this is considered a personal attack, turn me into the humane police force. Your second sentence is the worst single sentence I've ever read on Soxtalk. There can be none worse than that sentence. Ever. We are all anonymous on here. If you wrote that in a letter to the editor to the Trib and they printed it, your name would be mud in the entire city of Chicago. Nobody wishes ill on a fellow human being in a civilized society.

Alexei might play in the D.R.
He should perfect his bunting for a base hit ability for the first 2 months.

Yeah, Floyd should be shut down. It's not like there's much left of the season. If his hip hurts why push it? I'd think he'll battle it, though, until we are mathematically eliminated. It's obvious the Sox management is in it til the end, even if the players aren't.

That's as pathetic a game as we've had. Nine hits, one run. Injured starter gives up a few runs; game Ova cause of bad offense. It's pretty obvious Walk will be gone after this year, don't you think. And I don't really blame him. But somebody has to take the fall for the 'O.' Now one of the optimistic fans will start a thread giving us the math on how we will still win the division.

Wasn't Aardsma awful with the Sox? WTF? Is it our coaching? Bad luck or ?
-
White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
Well said, except our bullpen has stunk the last 2 years. I'm not so confident it will be that of a contender.

White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
When's the last time we won a series? Strange question to ask of a team allegedly still breathing.
-
White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
Seems we've had a lot of games with a ridiculous amount of hits and few runs.

We played so well last night. Now this mediocre pitcher is blanking us. Wow. Is anybody a little concerned about Beckham? Think he's hit the wall after a long season?
-
White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
The team is only a tease to us die hard fans. The pundits don't even consider us as being in the race. We've not gotten hot at all. We're doing what we've been doing all year. Hanging around .500. They tease us; nobody else.

I'm really encouraged by Freddy this season. He should be a solid No. 5 next year if he doesn't get fat in the offseason. Hope Gavin's hip heals. If not, it's Torres time. Yuk.
-
White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
Wow. Hip problems. He definitely had nothing on the ball. Now we know why.

Rios strokes a single. Will he steal with us down, 3-0?

White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
I agree the staff looks good, but I just sense a lot of people are assuming it's going to be amazing. Even Mark sucked for an extended period after the perfect game. Gavin's pitches are definitely screaming "hit me" tonight and he's only 11-10.
-
White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
Sac fly. That's how to move runners. 3-0 M's.
-
White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
CQ still has a lot to learn about hitting IMO. I am not just saying this cause Gavin is getting lit up. But he's 11-10. Why do we all assume our rotation is going to be unstoppable next year. Gavin is not Tom Seaver. Danks is not Sandy Koufax. They are good, but why are we assuming next year will be balls out excellence??
-
White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
CQ and Lexi both need to play winter ball. Hope they do it. I don't care if CQ gets hurt. He needs work.
-
White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
Two on, one out. CQ with the first pitch routine grounder to ss for the easy DP. I hope our clutch hitting improves next year. It's been spotty at best this season. Or at least it seems that way.
-
White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
Game off to a s***ty start; getting back to .500 is a chore for the Sox.
-
White Sox @ Seattle Mariners
Ouch. Gavin getting hit pretty good early. 1-0.
