  1. All I hear is Allen is the next big thing. Isn't he the next Big Hurt? Why can't we engineer a trade where we clearly win the trade once in a while?
  2. Right now we've got four pretty decent starters plus Clayton and we're still a .500 team. Clayton isn't going to single handedly cost us the division. I trust our pitching coach, manager and GM and you better believe they are assessing him and trying to figure out what is wrong or if he just doesn't have it right now. I prefer Clayton over Freddy and Colon, unless Freddy is kicking major ass in the minors and looks like a sure bet. I don't wanna see Colon grace the mound again.
  3. So is Big Hurt a masher. I was just asking a question of why is Hurt out of baseball and Thome still in? You can't tell me Hurt wouldn't hit 20-30 home runs if he played as much as Jimmy. Jimmy better heat up if he wants to hit 25-30 dingers this year. I said I like Thome, but he cannot run a lick. You got to admit he is probably the slowest man in baseball right now.
  4. You guys are nuts. Isn't Allen supposed to be a total stud? Ditto Poreda? And many think Richard will be a big league starter. They won't want Fields. You've got to be creative. I don't know who to trade, but you can't put 3-4 top prospects together for a pitcher. A pitcher's arm can be f***ed at any time.
  5. Is Hamilton definitely out? That better be why Dye isn't on that list. The Sox brass, led by its owner, should personally call out baseball. Jerry needs to speak out and say the all star game is a sham w/out Dye even one of the five being on the fan vote. As far as Thome, why is it that Big Hurt is out of baseball and Thome is in baseball? Both men CANNOT run anymore. Big Jim can barely make it from first to third. He cannot make it from second to home on a hit anywhere, just like the Big Hurt. I love Jimmy, but what's the difference between him and Frank now? Neither can run.
  6. Twins really did man up to win those last 2 games. We may need to outslug them if we can't get the M boys out. Crede is key as well. He is capable of hitting some bombs vs. us. They are going to score runs on us in bunches, especially with our defense. Might be wise to play BA in center all 3 games.
  7. I just got to believe the Cubs will win the division. We need to get our ass in gear and win ours so the dream of an all Chicago WS remains alive. Cubs are the best team in the Central.
  8. Why isn't Dye even on the list of five that you get to vote for? Baseball is disgraceful. This guy is everything that's good about baseball and a WS MVP. At least give Sox fans a chance to vote him in.
  9. My memory of his good outings are fading, but Richard looked great in his first couple starts. He ought to watch game tape of those games. I'd like to see some of the threads after those games. Everybody was pretty stoked and happy we didn't trade him as I recall. I'm sure our skipper and pitching coach and GM won't trot him out there much longer if he's just a four, five inning man. WHy the f*** was he so effective in his first couple starts? He was really good. Got to get him back to that.
  10. I'm not a huge believer in teams being emotionally not into it, but our team certainly seemed zombie like in Games 3 and 4. The Royals radio announcer today said Sox looked like a team ready to get on the plane home about halfway through that sleepwalking performance. It might have been a good day to plunk a Royal early like they have done to our hitters many times this year, just to rile things up a bit.
  11. Seven in a row was a nice win streak and proves we can get hot. So I'd think we'd stay in the race. I do not think we'll win the division and no way we are going to get the wild card. It's a bit disappointing (I know greedy) to not keep the Royals down when they were down and win the game with Floyd on the mound to win that series 3-1 instead of a split. I am not a believer; think we'll finish 7-8 out with Minnie winning it over Detroit. We do have some stars on this .500ish team, though, no doubt about it. MVP: Dye, Buehrle (the veterans have done well this year, AJ, Pods, Paulie, Jimmy for the most part) Dud: Lilly was the worst. A current dud? CQ cause of his health woes mostly and that long slump after the early stretch of home runs.
  12. Our hitters have zero chance against Soria. Not many do. I can't believe we only split the series after getting off to such a good start. We played pretty blah, fairly bad baseball in games 3, 4.
  13. We can't b**** about that decent catch in lf, considering KC gave us our second run. It'd be nice to come back and win three of four against the powder blues.
  14. What I'm asking if he maxed himself out so quickly, is that something that will improve in time as he learns to pitch in the bigs?
  15. When Richard was doing well, wasn't his fastball popping? What's happened to his arm strength? Does that develop as you get used to being a big league pitcher?
  16. So much for "expecting" to win Game 3 of the series. That was kind of a blah loss. I didn't see it, but the KC announcers in the first fpur innings, which is all I listened to, made it sound as if Floyd didn't have the control today. I couldn't believe yesterday DJ and Farmer said Thornton was an all-star, lock to make the team. I mean I like Thornton, but no way will he be on the all star team.
  17. The Cubs are gonna win that weak division; we may win our division. It's a repeat of last year with a glimmer of hope we meet them in the WS. I'd love to see it happen in a lifetime.
  18. I watched much of the Twins-Tigers tonight on MLB. We need to go into the dome and play better baseball this year. The Twins are good, yes, but not good enough where they beat us all but 2 games there this year. The Tigers jumped on them, blew the lead, then won it in 17 or so. The crowd was big, but dead and there's a big sign out there in leftfield saying "Countdown to Outdoor Baseball." They hate playing in there so they should not give us the usual beatdown in there this year.
  19. I don't think you can expect a sweep against anybody on the road. We are hot and they are not. I hope we can keep it that way. Bannister has been decent of late and Hochevar has been good at times as well. We need to play.
  20. You guys are a tough crowd. All that matters are results. He needs to get ahead of the hitters in the future or he'll be ultimately f***ed, but he also did the job tonight. Olivo doesn't take walks; he has hit 11 or 12 bombs. He's a free swinger.
  21. Man, they packed the stadium and couldn't do s*** against Johnny and Liney. Great win. Danks does it the night after Mark. Two lefties in a row handcuff the Royals. Let's take 3 of 4 or all 4.
  22. That's kind of a dumb statement IMO. Give Liney credit as much as Olivo f***ing up.
  23. Liney doesn't believe in working ahead of hitters. Or he's rusty.
  24. This is hard to believe. DP? Wow.
  25. Hope Bobby gets up. It's only 5-0
