Ramblings ... We suck in day games, don't we? Why does baseball schedule these day games in the middle of the week after night games? I'd have loved the same scenario as the last two games. 7:11 p.m. Sox win! Who cares if its a travel day. Sox go to Minnesota. Whooo long trip. Isn't the life of big leaguers amazing? Clayton was so promising after 3 starts. He was great. Got positive press and acclaim. Now he looks like s***. I'm not knocking Beckham at all - I love the guy - amazing though how one severe 0hfer can dip his average to .245. Baseball is an unforgiving game. And Lexi. Those first six weeks he was just total crap. Now he's a god. It's why so many probably love this wacky game.

I voted Poreda as well. This scenario is what needs to happen unless Freddy is ready. How's he doing?

There's no way they can trot Clayton back out there after today's start. I am stunned he's been this bad of late, but no way a big league pitcher can get hit like he gets hit. He was on top of the world after those early starts, now he's worse than Jose was early in the season. We can't afford to give games away and we're pretty much giving away the game when Clayton starts. Bring on Poreda. It's his turn.

Exactly. You can acquire guys in free agency. It would be dumb to send 5-6 studs to them for Roy.

Don't forget, we've had a healthy dose of Cleveland/KC lately, though we did beat the Dodgers and Cubs. The Pods thing is sort of scary; he's been so comfortable and we'll be moving him soon. Keep BA around just in case. Pods' defense may be a horror story out in cf.

It's fun to watch Paulie bat when he's on fire. If we were coming offf our WS year, right now Paulie would be an all star as well as Dye, Mark, AJ and either Bobby or Thornton. As it is we get one guy. What a joke.

I disagree. Anderson is a better defender than Wise. How can anybody dispute that? Don't you think we need a righthanded bat, as bad as BA's is, for the parade of lefties that face us? Anderson has more value IMO even with his horrible hitting than the speed of Wise, who is also a bad hitter for the most part. As a utility outfiielder, Anderson wins and I hope KW sees that.

The bottom line is if we give up 3-4 of our finest prospects and/or a current young stud like Alexei and Beckham I bet we could get him. Is Halladay worth that? You make the call. I personally think it's not worth the gamble acquiring pitchers his age for all our best prospects. Cliff Lee was virtually unhittable last year; one year later?

I'd rather start Poreda than Colon in an emergency start. Hope we're not going to go the Colon route again.

Vafan is worked up. Wow. Some of us don't like the idea of losing a player we've heard a lot about for a reliever. Some of us think it'd be better to package a guy like that in a big deal in the offseason or before the trade deadline. Somebody in this thread said it best. No need to fall in love with any prospects because most will never make it/and or get dealt.

I can see that. Great point. If you get the tickets for free, it's go for broke on all the food, beers, shirts, hats, etc., especially if you get a parking pass too.

Contreras was great. Thornton was nasty. Top four guys in lineup were 8-15.

Back in the day, when it was about as expensive to go to a game as a movie, I got mad at the Sox poor attendance. Now I can understand why anybody would chose to not go to a game. A family of four with good seats? Wanting to enjoy the experience with food, cokes, beers, hats for the kids, etc? And parking? My god you could easily drop 300 bills or more. I don't know how fans can go to 15-20 games a year and afford it unless they do the nosebleed and buy no food. Now the way the team has been playing lately? it's easier to stomach, not the piss poor efforts in bad weather earlier this year.

Guys, if our other hitters stay this hot, we don't need BA to deliver many hits. He belongs on the ML roster cause of his defense. We shouldn't dump him.

I'd still rather have BA up here instead of Wise. Just for that defense and Wise isn't exactly productive either.
