If this has been discussed, by all means kill the thread. I haven't scoured all the Bobby threads. But boos? I mean, my god. People booed Bobby after the Rays' game? I know people pay good money, but at what point do people give these guys a break? Oz's quotes were great. Too bad there's not another way fans can express bitter disappointment. It used to be you shut up and walked out the stadium sad. Booing Bobby this year and Paulie last year is dumb. Maybe Oz was overreacting or were the boos really loud for Bobby?

I really really like Alexi and it'd hurt to lose him. I really would like him to be a Sox for a long time and if we need a starter just find another way. What did the Cubbies give up for Harden last year? Top top prospects? I forget. Please keep Lexi.

I was thinking the saem thing. Amazing series.

Great victory. Wow on Matt Thornton. Nice job. Obviously Longoria coulda gone deep and made it a nightmarish loss. He didn't thanks to Matt. ps. I love Pods and his contributions tonight and almost every night, but do you guys feel a lot less comfy with him out there in the ninth in vast centerfield? I really think there is a need for a defensive cf specialist in baseball. And that's you know who in our ogranization. Maybe I'm wrong, but are you guys a little queasy with Pods out there, especially late in the game.

I agree it'd be nice for Bob to get some time off. You just know if he came in tonight it woulda been a repeat. At least I feel that way. I heard some guy on TV say he thought all pitchers should be DLed once in a long season. To rest.

Black Jack McDowell on tonight's loss and closers

It's 2009. You can't let pitch counts go up. Royals fans are upset Gil Meche went 130 one night and now he's on the DL. I hate it as well, but starters don't go as long as the past. -

Can't argue with that. Hopefully Bobby is just having a bad week or two. He's usually pretty damn good. Scary about Danks' blister. -
I still say nobody would have picked up Wise. Who the heck would have picked up his option? He can't get on base to use that speed.
-
I love Ozzie. He's been in baseball so long, he's seen it all. He could kick anybody's ass on this board in a 1-1 discussion of strategy in baseball. Uh, he could. He screws up a lot. All managers do.
-
It woulda been nice to win all 3, but these Eastern teams, even the O's, are pretty damn good. I am serious. Baltimore ain't bad.

Just checking in on the game. Jose musta stunk today.

It's amazing how teams sign players to big contract deals then many times a year or two into the deal the contract is considered a big burden and they'll even eat some of the contract after trading the guy. It makes no sense that owners have signed these guys to such big deals. The cycle is amazing. Sign guys fpr zillions of dollars then try to dump the contracts a year or two later.
-
He definitely can't get on base and that negates his speed. Keep BA; dump Wise. Oz is dying for that speed but Wise can't get on base.

Heckling is stupid.

The ESPN piece was great. Funny to hear Harry and Bill Veeck singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame as the fans were burning up the field, trying to get them to stop. There was no hope. They weren't necessarily baseball fans, just out to run amok. Jimmy Piersall was funny on the ESPN piece as well, saying it remains a dark mark on Chicago and baseball. He was sickened by that evening. Funny thing about you line about feeling sorry about kids growing up today. A lot of those kids have parents that were 20 or so during the Disco Demolition Days. Sad that they decided to be so protective of their kids. It's like they loved their childhoods, but were determined to run every moment of their kids' lives. Don't know how it got that way or why.

Teahan would be a good guy to have around, but isn't worth more than a fringe prospect. He doesn't do anything very well. He's an average player.

I have a feeling we're going to hate that place even more before the end of the season.

We should be terrified of that trip. That trip has 3-7 written all over it and that's the best possible scenario. The one poster is right. Without an effective CQ our lineup won't do squat in those Eastern ballparks and only an optimist on drugs would think we can win a series in Minnesota. With a CQ on fire and the KW pitching acquisition (you know he's going to get us another starter) maybe we'll have a fighting chance. We're four down in loss column. If it grows to 7 or 8 this time, there won't be enough time to make it up.

Joe Crede does not suck.

I'd rather trade Jimmy than Dye. I like Jimmy and all he stands for, but I'm sick of the shift and Dye is a total stud.

I don't know if we are going to be "one hell of a ballclub" at any point this year. We are nothing to brag about despite winning six of our last seven series or whatever that stat is. That's a nice job by the team. They should be commended. But we were one measley hit last night from predictably getting swept in the dome. We probalby can count on one or two wins at the most in our remaining games up there, probably one. Frustrating to bend over and get whacked in the ass AGAIN in the dome. But the Sox winning all those series of late, gives them a pass this one time.
-
Can't ask for more. We had our chance. Dye at the plate. Dreaded pop up this time.

Dye, Thome, Paulie. If we are hoping to come back today and not just get on the plane for the all star break, the veterans need to score 2 here.
