  1. Then that shows why we are a .500 team at best. Our baseball team had BA and Fields penciled in as starters and you think they were were basically nothing. Those are 2 positions on a team filled with trash. As far as Kenny. That's his job to evaluate players. GMs always need a crystal ball so to speak. He should have moved Josh in the offseason and signed Crede to a Twins' like deal. Or given it to Beckham to begin with. The few weeks in the minors probably didn't matter much to Gordon to start the year. His ability was probably there to begin with unless you guys think that month or so in the minors helped him a lot. And you said: But Crede was no sure thing and KW thought Fields was a potential all star so he wasn't going anywhere unless they got Cabrera or someone like that. If KW thought fields was potential all star, some other GM might have bit in the winter when teams are more apt to deal to make some changes.
  2. You don't think Fields could have been shopped last winter to get a much better prospect/player? As well as BA? Now they are scraps. In the offseason, Fields was taking over for Crede to the delight of all the Crede bashers. He was our starter with some promise. Now he's nothing but garbage on the trade market. BA also was likely to be our starter. Now we get old Kotsay for him? Scraps.
  3. Great, so now we'll get nothing for Fields except some Class A ball guy or a guy like Kotsay. Bummer.
  4. Uh oh. If the Bosox acquired him that must mean Bill James thinks BA can hit in the big leagues.
  5. The season is going full circle; now we're blaming Walker again.
  6. We are the Twins personal whipping boys. We should have at least make some money off this embarrassment at the dome. Whenever we play there we should send somebody to Vegas and bet all our savings on the Twins. Yes they are favored and our profits would be less but when the Sox play the Twins in Minnesota, we lose, lose, lose and lose some more. It's unbelievable. Either we choke every time or we truly are incapable of playing the kind of baseball it takes to win in that joint.
  7. The truth is we've flirted with being good, but we don't have "it." I guess we could somehow get hot and get in the playoffs, but we still resemble that dreaded .500 team.
  8. Sox need to play this like the Rays' series. Exciting give it all baseball. Enough of this sloppy crap in the Metrodome. The Twins aren't that good. Can we win Game One and take some of the heat off immediately?
  9. Very dumb move. Richard just mowed down Detroit and has shown signs of being a good starter. Colon is over the hill.
  10. I wish our team would fill needs through the free agent route. It's kind of scary thinking of trading Richard. He definitely has shown potential. I mean that was an effective pitcher tonight.
  11. That's always the argument. Yes you have the right. But people like me can call you a bad fan. Yes a bad fan. Why? The guy is a closer, one of the toughest jobs on the field. In that role has a good to excellent track record and a spot in our lore with the WS title. He is likeable, not a bum. A true fan would shut the f*** up when he sucks or scream at the situation, not the player. Booing is unproductive and not a classy thing to do IMO.
  12. If we hope to win Sunday we better bring out A team bats. In a big park like Detroit's and their momentum, good luck. Predictably we lost that DH and that may ultimately define our season. We had to split that DH. Too much at stake to meekly drop both games with such a tough schedule ahead.
  13. Is it his stuff or like somebody said the fact he threw all fastballs? If it's his approach and not his stuff, keep him as closer, but give somebody else the job the next few save opps and heaven forbid if that guy blow the save.
  14. Who the hell is going to replace him? Who do you want in the closer role? I could go through all our candidates and rate why I think Bob is better, but I won't. Who do you want? Closer by committee or Matt? Dotel?
  15. It has to be maddening to be KW right now. He probably thought after the Rays series we were ready to compete big time the rest of the way. Then this. We could win Sunday but you've got to love the Tigers' odds. They are going to be loose and ready to pounce on us. Five back in the loss column heading into the dome? We rarely win in the dome. We better find a way Sunday, then really compete in Minnie. Depending on how detroit does while we're in Minnie, we could be buried in a hurry. Sell mode would be interesting.
  16. Baseball is so strange a game. We suddenly could really go into a tailspin with the dome looming, then New York.
  17. Our bullpen is a shambles. Four back in the loss column with Tigers playing so loose on Sunday going for the sweep. Hard to believe we haven't won a game this series yet. Man there are no words to describe what's gone on in Detroit after the perfect game.
  18. We do need some runs. How bout a one-out walk by CQ, bloop hit by Getz or ph and double by Beckham?
  19. Great matchup; Granderson is a stud.
  20. I would suspect Linebrink may have earned some time on the pine. My guess is our new reliever Pena will be getting the more important set up work until if and when Pena fails. Hopefully our new reliever will be the answer for a while. Oz has gone to Linebrink a lot lately, pre all star game and after. He's been consistently sucking and Oz eventually gives up on you, at least for a while. We shall see.
  21. Man one day later we are three out in the loss column. Really if you ever could predict a "letdown" day this would be it. Hitting the road to play a DH after the perfect game celebration and the very emotional series with the defending AL champs in which we won 3 of 4. It cried letdown. That said, we got to win one of the next two and leave town three back in the loss column, five out would not be good and we'd effectively gotten Detroit back on track after the Seattle series.
  22. Why? Please explain. I think Obama's love of the Sox is helping pub the team when things go well. He truly is a Sox fan and has given us big time pub with the all star game jacket and the phone call to Mark and comment to the press Mark owes Wise a steak dinner.
  23. Our bullpen is definitely looking shaky. Maybe Linebrink should be shut down, sent down for a while. He definitely appears in trouble. Thornton is sometimes untouchable, sometimes wild. DJ is not so good as he showed before the all star break. Obviously Oz has little confidence in Dotel right now. And we know about Bobby of late. Trouble in the pen. I wonder what the solution is.
  24. I think that'd be a proper response to those who like to yell stuff. I have no problem with that. The other response would be to walk out in silence, shaking one's head. To those who say you have the right to boo cause you pay good money. Nobody is denying that. To those who say all big leaguers should be prepared to be booed, nobody's denying that. What the non booers are saying is Jenks doesn't deserve it and it makes our fan base look very stupid and can do nothing positive to help his confidence the next time. Our fan base apparently is the same as Philly/NY, etc. We boo our No. 25 player and one of our best players. Dumb. p.s. Let's say Mark gets rocked his next four home starts and just plain sucks. We boo him, right? It's stupid to boo.
  25. Good stuff, sweatpants. I tried to envision that. Funny.
