Has no one realized?
A split truly would be nice. It would be great to win the DH somehow and vault ahead of them in the standings. That might shock Detroit into being the mediocre team we know they should be.

Dewayne Wise to be interviewed on Sportscenter
The replay has Wise just plain sprinting after the ball immediately. Like it was fate. What would Pods have done on the play? We know what many say BA woulda done; what about Pods?

Dewayne Wise to be interviewed on Sportscenter
Fair enough, thunderbolt. We are different kind of posters/fans. Difference of opinion. I prefer to copy Hawk who said it was one of the greatest catches he's seen in 50 years of baseball and leave it at that for at least one day. Hawk didn't add a comment, 'And that helps make up for the lousy year Wise has had to this point." It just seems some excellent moments should stand on their own with no qualifiers. To me it's like you give him is due, then "Yeah, but ..." I'll stop now.

Dewayne Wise to be interviewed on Sportscenter
I loved the hug. Mark B hugging Wise. Precious moment in Sox lore. Thunderbolt, are you this harsh in real life as well or just message board land? I ask all sane people to study your comment above. It's a crazy sentiment to me. You say you always will remember the moment, it'll be etched in your mind forever, yet I still sense some negativitity toward Wise. Why can't you just leave it with the nice part of your comment like Hawk saying: "I'd say because of the circumstances one of the greatest catches I've seen in 50 years of baseball." Hawk didn't add, "and by the way, Wise has pretty much stunk other than this inning this year." He left it at that. Why couldn't you? -- This is worth a discussion. Are you guys surprised Oz made the defensive move? Thank God he did. No way Pods catches that ball. At least I don't think Pods catches that ball. Two questions: Did you agree with Oz putting in Wise for Pods superstition and all? And also, if Wise goes up strong and drops the ball and it's ruled a hit obviously, do you think we'd all be calling for Oz's head for sending down Anderson, and all the Anderson stuff dredged up? Second guessing goes both ways. Would any of you have reamed Wise for the drop and Oz/KW for sending down Anderson if the ball plops out?

Prospect Retro: Mark Buehrle
Good story, Mr. Costanza. Also the above came from yahoo.com. Amazing how he's blossomed. You would think all 38th round type pitching prospects would copy Mark's style. Work fast. He's a pleasure to watch pitch even the rare days he doesn't have it.

Boos for Bobby? Really?
Yes. It's Bobby Jenks who has a serious track history of excellence. Somebody said his erratic month makes the booing understandable. Give me a f***ing break. How do "normal" fans react at the Cell when the few morons boo? I'd guess those who boo are drunk so probably not much is said lest you get punched. Show some loyalty and class. Bobby blows a save at home, we lose. So you can just exit the ballpark sad and quiet, shaking your head. Why boo him? I guess tonight one more base hit and Matt gets booed as well.

Boos for Bobby? Really?
If this has been discussed, by all means kill the thread. I haven't scoured all the Bobby threads. But boos? I mean, my god. People booed Bobby after the Rays' game? I know people pay good money, but at what point do people give these guys a break? Oz's quotes were great. Too bad there's not another way fans can express bitter disappointment. It used to be you shut up and walked out the stadium sad. Booing Bobby this year and Paulie last year is dumb. Maybe Oz was overreacting or were the boos really loud for Bobby?

Trade Winds Catch All
I really really like Alexi and it'd hurt to lose him. I really would like him to be a Sox for a long time and if we need a starter just find another way. What did the Cubbies give up for Harden last year? Top top prospects? I forget. Please keep Lexi.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
I was thinking the saem thing. Amazing series.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Great victory. Wow on Matt Thornton. Nice job. Obviously Longoria coulda gone deep and made it a nightmarish loss. He didn't thanks to Matt. ps. I love Pods and his contributions tonight and almost every night, but do you guys feel a lot less comfy with him out there in the ninth in vast centerfield? I really think there is a need for a defensive cf specialist in baseball. And that's you know who in our ogranization. Maybe I'm wrong, but are you guys a little queasy with Pods out there, especially late in the game.

What's wrong with Bobby Jenks?
I agree it'd be nice for Bob to get some time off. You just know if he came in tonight it woulda been a repeat. At least I feel that way. I heard some guy on TV say he thought all pitchers should be DLed once in a long season. To rest.

Rays vs Sox 7:11CST Start Shields vs Torres - Passion of the Carlos II
What can you say except wow?

Rays vs Sox 7:11CST Start Shields vs Torres - Passion of the Carlos II
This is gonna be intriguing. Obviously if the leadoff man gets on we're in a big heap of trouble. The Rays in many ways gave this game away. We need to aggressively put them away!

Black Jack McDowell on tonight's loss and closers
It's 2009. You can't let pitch counts go up. Royals fans are upset Gil Meche went 130 one night and now he's on the DL. I hate it as well, but starters don't go as long as the past.

Rays (51-42) @ White Sox (48-44) 7:11pm CSN-HD
Can't argue with that. Hopefully Bobby is just having a bad week or two. He's usually pretty damn good. Scary about Danks' blister.

Anderson would've had it
I still say nobody would have picked up Wise. Who the heck would have picked up his option? He can't get on base to use that speed.

Ozzie and his Usage of Aaron Poreda.
I love Ozzie. He's been in baseball so long, he's seen it all. He could kick anybody's ass on this board in a 1-1 discussion of strategy in baseball. Uh, he could. He screws up a lot. All managers do.

7/19 Sox vs O's 1:05pm CSN
It woulda been nice to win all 3, but these Eastern teams, even the O's, are pretty damn good. I am serious. Baltimore ain't bad.

Sox Should Trade for OFer by deadline
It's amazing how teams sign players to big contract deals then many times a year or two into the deal the contract is considered a big burden and they'll even eat some of the contract after trading the guy. It makes no sense that owners have signed these guys to such big deals. The cycle is amazing. Sign guys fpr zillions of dollars then try to dump the contracts a year or two later.
-
D. Wise gives me....
He definitely can't get on base and that negates his speed. Keep BA; dump Wise. Oz is dying for that speed but Wise can't get on base.

Mark Teahen anyone?
Heckling is stupid.

30th Anniversary of Disco Demolition Night
The ESPN piece was great. Funny to hear Harry and Bill Veeck singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame as the fans were burning up the field, trying to get them to stop. There was no hope. They weren't necessarily baseball fans, just out to run amok. Jimmy Piersall was funny on the ESPN piece as well, saying it remains a dark mark on Chicago and baseball. He was sickened by that evening. Funny thing about you line about feeling sorry about kids growing up today. A lot of those kids have parents that were 20 or so during the Disco Demolition Days. Sad that they decided to be so protective of their kids. It's like they loved their childhoods, but were determined to run every moment of their kids' lives. Don't know how it got that way or why.

Mark Teahen anyone?
Teahan would be a good guy to have around, but isn't worth more than a fringe prospect. He doesn't do anything very well. He's an average player.

How lame is the Metrodome?
I have a feeling we're going to hate that place even more before the end of the season.
