  1. I disagree. Anderson is a better defender than Wise. How can anybody dispute that? Don't you think we need a righthanded bat, as bad as BA's is, for the parade of lefties that face us? Anderson has more value IMO even with his horrible hitting than the speed of Wise, who is also a bad hitter for the most part. As a utility outfiielder, Anderson wins and I hope KW sees that.
  2. The bottom line is if we give up 3-4 of our finest prospects and/or a current young stud like Alexei and Beckham I bet we could get him. Is Halladay worth that? You make the call. I personally think it's not worth the gamble acquiring pitchers his age for all our best prospects. Cliff Lee was virtually unhittable last year; one year later?
  3. I'd rather start Poreda than Colon in an emergency start. Hope we're not going to go the Colon route again.
  4. Vafan is worked up. Wow. Some of us don't like the idea of losing a player we've heard a lot about for a reliever. Some of us think it'd be better to package a guy like that in a big deal in the offseason or before the trade deadline. Somebody in this thread said it best. No need to fall in love with any prospects because most will never make it/and or get dealt.
  5. I can see that. Great point. If you get the tickets for free, it's go for broke on all the food, beers, shirts, hats, etc., especially if you get a parking pass too.
  6. Contreras was great. Thornton was nasty. Top four guys in lineup were 8-15.
  7. Back in the day, when it was about as expensive to go to a game as a movie, I got mad at the Sox poor attendance. Now I can understand why anybody would chose to not go to a game. A family of four with good seats? Wanting to enjoy the experience with food, cokes, beers, hats for the kids, etc? And parking? My god you could easily drop 300 bills or more. I don't know how fans can go to 15-20 games a year and afford it unless they do the nosebleed and buy no food. Now the way the team has been playing lately? it's easier to stomach, not the piss poor efforts in bad weather earlier this year.
  8. Guys, nobody is going to pick up Wise, nobody.
  9. Guys, if our other hitters stay this hot, we don't need BA to deliver many hits. He belongs on the ML roster cause of his defense. We shouldn't dump him.
  10. I'd still rather have BA up here instead of Wise. Just for that defense and Wise isn't exactly productive either.
  11. If he could just hit a bit. His fielding is so good. Hitting so abysmal.
  12. Poor Brian. Maybe he needs to be sent down and convert to being a pitcher; the opposite of the Ankiel story. BA simply can't hit. Sad.
  13. Oh wait, it's 5-1 not 4-1, no bobby.
  14. Good question. Matt is dealing. Might be wise to give Bob a night off. If I had to bet, it's Bobby.
  15. Tough luck. that was a bullet.
  16. Hopefully Crede won't be uppercutting some home runs that series. It's tough enough to win with M and M bashing us. We also need to hit their starters like some other teams have been doing.
  17. Thornton is like the rest of our team -- hot. Man he is dealing tonight.
  18. There's nothing worse than playing Minnie in the dome.
  19. Our series' against Minnesota really get built up a lot when we travel to the dome. I caught a few innings on mlb.com the other day and the announcers were b****ing big time about having to play that playoff game in Chicago last year. They are still miserable over the coin flip. They were pissed.
  20. It's a pleasure to watch a healthy Pods run.
  21. I think it's worth the risk of possibly losing. The whole country would be so bored. It'd be an all Chicago thing. And we'd probably win it. It'd be great for the city.
  22. I have a feeling it comes down to whether Oz prefers Brian's defense or Wise's speed as a backup outfielder and Wise's speed will win out. That's dumb, though. BA's defense is more valuable than Wise's speed.
  23. This flap with KW is funny considering just last week Oz said our fans were smarter than Cubs fans because our fans don't show up cause "they know we are horses***" or something like that. Oz already pointed out why our fans won't go to the games.
  24. It's funny to hear Hawk go through his home run call w/out DJ also screaming the 'Yes' part. No way the ultra professional Stone would ever chime in. He really needs to save the hell yes for things like grand slams and game winners. He's already got 'this game is OVA' and the 'put it on the board yes' thing goin on. The hell yes should be rare, but what the f*** do I know about broadcasting? Maybe it's a gem.
