Nice. We get good starting pitching like this and get another bat going in Beckham and Lexi of late and we surge to .500. We had too many automatic outs before. Let's keep winning. Great start to a series. Usually we lose the first one then play good ball. Was Dotel throwing meat in there since we had the lead or ? He gave up two dingers right? I didn't see it on tv.
-
That's why they call 'em insurance runs. Hope the guys quietly celebrate the return to .500 and don't feel bad that the Tribe came back in the bottom of the ninth a bit. I only say this cause I didn't see it on TV and saw a post that said it looked like our guys were deflated, I assume coming off the field on TV.

But who the heck would want Pods? We picked him up off scrapheap and he's doing well in our jersey. Nobody else is going to give up anything for him but some Triple A hack.
-
Where do the WC Thunderbolts play? Somewhere South? I grew up in Mt. Greenwood. Lot of baseball fans there. Any of you ever seen the Mt Greenwood LL complex? Is it still pretty good as it was when I was little?
-
Nobody's going to give us squat for Pods. He's ours for the season. Anybody could have picked him up when we did. We just have to hope he can stay on this roll.

I think the cheap entertainment thing would keep them a strong option for people, but I have no idea how any of those teams draw. I would assume tickets are that of a movie. 10 bucks or so for a good seat? That's pretty good out in suburbia. Don't have the hassle of going into the city and still get to see a game.
-
Maybe, but he might be one of those notorious slow starters as well. He's really heating up and his average is climbing rapidly. Knock on wood.
-
If that's a joke, to me it's not really funny and I'm no prude. It's obvious Wise is going to play a lot. Anderson STILL isn't hitting and Oz wants a semblance of speed even if Wise usually can't get on base to use it.
-
That's amazing Joliet has a team too. Teams all over the place. Which of the 3 is best experience to see a game if I want to take the nephews on vacation?
-
We just need to play good baseball. Whenever we start thinking we'll roll because of the opposition, we go back into one of those funks that drops the Sox five or six below .500 again. Errors aside, the Sox played pretty aggressive baseball vs. the Cubbies n Dodgers. Like Oz said in one of the quotes, he doesn't believe yet because whenever he does they "break my heart again."

Do the Kane County Cougars and Schaumberg Flyers draw many fans? If so, people must really love baseball in the Chicago area. Lots of teams. Are there any others besides those two?
-
We won't be starting four lefties. That's too unusual. I can't imagine trading Buehrle or Danks so that leaves one of the other lefties to be shipped. As far as the Dye/Dotel to Reds talk, why would the Reds pay Dotel's contract? He's nothing special and makes too much loot. If we go in seller's mode, trade Dye or Paulie or Thome to somebody who is desperate for a postseason bat and will overpay. Preferably keep Dye.

As much as people sometimes blast our hitters for being impatient pop up artists, didn't the Sox just jump on Zambrano early in the count? Sometimes if the meatball is there, you've got to drill it early in the count.

Is it obvious to any of you that the reason Oz loves playing Wise is the idea he might get on base and then Oz can run? To me, it's that simple. Oz salivated over the weekend when he had enough pieces (that got on base) to finally be able to hit and run and run. Wise, who may suck, at least fits the description. I love BA's defense, but I would suspect pretty soon, if not now, we'll be seeing Wise against all righties. For the record, I prefer BA in the lineup everyday, but I think it's obvious why Oz plays Wise. Oz is DESPERATE for some speed.

Did ANY media member point out the premium ticket issue? If not, somebody should email one of the writers. Stupid if it wasn't addressed.
-
What an asshole Cub fan to do that to a woman. I wonder if your husband thought he might have to punch the punk. Of course your hubby would have gotten arrested probably.
-
The Sox hitters really stroked some hits off Zambrano today. It could have been an embarrassing outing for him, rather than just a bad one. I was so impressed with Danks getting out of the jam in that one inning, the sixth or seventh. Really great job by him. Hopefully Linebrink is stepping up. He appears to be. Lexi to Beckham for the force out. Great play on both ends. Dye is fun to watch bat when he has it going, which is most of the time. If Zambrano was trying to hit Pods, that was dumb. Coincidence or not, our bats woke up after that.

The Royals' defense is horrid. Sometimes the official scorer helps them out, though. They are Keystone Copish again this year.
-
I hope Farmer and Jackson also praised the s*** out of Alexei for his incredible series at the plate. If they didn't slobber over the hitting part of his game, then something's wrong.
-
Did anybody "hear" Oz's quote? Was he mad or laughing. I think it's funny. But basically he did say his team is s***. That's kind of funny or like somebody else said the marketing dept's nightmare. That's hilarious Oz also mentioned Wrigley being a big bar. Somebody should point out in the media articles what people on Soxtalk were saying about not going to the Dodger game because of the extra surcharge on tickets or whatever you guys were talking bout.
-
How hot was it at the game? Normal hot or HOT? THink of all the beer/soft drinks sold. ... Wow. Anybody pass out?
-
I respect what you are saying, but if every scout thinks this guy is a future stud and he's hit on all levels, then why the hell will he have to change his approach?? That makes little sense. I mean if he needs to change his approach, then are his past accomplishments a mirage?
-
Zambrano vs. Danks on TV Sunday. Nice. Hope Danks brings his good stuff and Jimmy T. goes with the pitch and hits a couple 3 run bombs into the leftcenterfield seats.
-
That would have been a huge bummer if that had happened. It was a blast off Beckham's bat and like Fathom said, the of had to be in a bit in case of a hard single. It would have been a crime to see some dope like Bradley rob Beckham of his first glory moment and cost us a game potentially.
-
Ozzie should have some good quotes after the game unless he wants to low-key it to make sure we're fired up Sunday. Pinch hitting for Beckham on Friday; seeing him come of age and beat the Cubs Saturday. He may have some glowing words for Beckham in the press.
