White Sox loser
What can you say? I hate to kick a dead horse. But we are a dead horse.

Oh well, in a week or so all anybody will be talking about is the Cubs anyway. Barring a miracle, we are toast. How we are so many games over .500 is beyond me. We ain't gots a very good team, folks. The only good thing is Mariotti isn't around to remind us of how bad we are tanking in Minnie every single day. One more day of this then it's back to the Cell one half game out.

I think he's going to whiff two of three, but pop ups are a possibility as well.

I'm not embarrassed, just shocked at our play in September, on the road and against winning teams.

No he ain't. This series was written in the baseball books weeks ago. We can't win in Minnie.

The Cell will be so ugly. Our fans will boo the troops mercilessly after getting swept here. It will really be sad and ugly.

We all should have bet our life savings on the sweep. It was the most obvious happening of the baseball season. It was staring us in the face weeks ago.

At least it's only going to get worse. After they sweep us, it's still not over. There's still a chance of getting swept by Cleveland or the possibility of two more after that, losing to Detroit and then to Minnie in the playoff.

I'd like to hear from the Sox fans at the game. I bet the Twins fans are mocking the Sox. Everybody in Minnesota knew they'd sweep us. We can't win there.

We've trailed this entire series, haven't we? Nice baseball.

Hawk's right. The question is can we win one game this series? I'd say odds of that are about 20-80 or 10-90.

Expect another beatdown. Then if we win you'll be surprised and happy. I got bad vibes. Losing game one was not a good idea.

And Ozzie put him in the lineup because his boss acquired him. We should just hire a different manager every year to have the honeymoon period and keep people happy.

Ozzie calls out Javy
This was in DeLuca's column on Javy sucking. We are 9-11 in September. What a joke. If we are 14-6 we win the division easy. f***heads.

Ozzie calls out Javy
Javy sucks at times like tonight. Nice job Javy. Way to come through in the clutch. That said ... my prediction is tonight Ramirez costs us the game. And ... is there a worse player in baseball history than Boone Logan? My god that guy is so bad it is hard to fathom.

Basic math
I wish we'd pick a different team to acquire players from than the Royals. How bout the Pirates in the future. Some of their guys might be good. They should be our new farm system.

I agree Big Hurt, but it's KW who went out and got Griffey.

KW, win or lose, we need to rebuild for 2010/11
Wow caulfield, well thought out post. But did you mean 2009-10?

A Bright Spot
Here's a bright spot. Here's how the Minnesota paper wrote up the game, not exactly the tone of believing the Twins deserve to win the division: By Joe Christensen Star Tribune (Minneapolis) (MCT) MINNEAPOLIS — The White Sox might still hold on to win the AL Central, but they can’t clinch at the Metrodome. The Twins saved themselves from having to watch Chicago celebrate in their beloved indoor playground with their 9-3 victory Tuesday night in the first game of this pivotal three-game series. An announced crowd of 35,225 at the Dome watched the Twins trim Chicago’s lead to 1 1/2 games, while looking nothing like their alter egos, who struggled to a 35-46 road record. Jason Kubel led the offense with two home runs, and Scott Baker overcame his past struggles against the White Sox, holding them to one run in seven innings. The Twins are 50-26 at home, including 6-1 against Chicago.

Well, we all know our team needs a nut check on the road. They played pussy ball tonite.

I feel your pain, but a lot of teams with much higher payrolls than the Twinks have fared way worse than the Twinks. In reality, we have the team that could/should win at least a division title this year (likely won't, I'm not drinking any koolaid). We have name pitchers in the bullpen (Dotel, Linebrink, Thornton, Jenks) that on paper are good enough to play on a division titlist. Considering Floyd and Danks have been terrific, we have the starting staff on paper good enough to win a division. We have tons of power hitters and a good backstop. We have a good enough manager though many of you disagree. All we lack is outfield defense and speed ... on paper. We have the pieces any general manager would be satisfied with, we just can't beat the Twins. That said ... if we blow the division title I could see KW blowing it up. That doesn't mean we'll be a better team next year or five years down the line. No guarantees. We had the team on paper this year to do it.

9/24 Gamethread: Chicago @ Minnesota
Our only hope is a Buehrle masterpiece. Preferably a shutout which is impossible considering he doesn't strike out a ton and we'll boot the ball around in the humpdome. This edition of the White Sox is the most maddening winning team (16 over .500) in baseball history.

I was hopeful we'd wake up this time in Minnie, which seems like a dumb statement considering we have 86 wins and are 16 over .500. But same ol s***. We can't beat good teams on the road. If we continue our trend, we might be able to win one here and that will keep us afloat. A sweep is likely, however, since we can't compete with Minnesota in Minnesota. So disappointing. We got our asses kicked tonight and our only hope at winning a game is if Minnesota lets up at all and actually is overconfident since they routinely beat us like a drum. Ramirez pitched a scoreless inning tonight so if it's a close game Wednesday we'll probably use him and he'll get lit up. Fathom was right weeks ago in assuming these 3 games would be losses. We had to go in with a 4-5 game lead if we realistically hoped to win the division. Crazy thing is we could have and should have had that 4-5 game lead. I still am 30 percent hopeful we can snake out one win in the three games, not because of our ability, but the fact the Twins are not a great team. We shall see. Very disappointing tonight all the way around. Total joke of a performance. In fact, embarrassing. I'd have taken everybody's whipping boy Judy over Javy tonight on the mound.
