  1. The crowd will be very ugly if we blow the title. Only good thing is Mariotti isn't around to write the carnage. I'm still hopeful we can get one this series. Not holding my breath, though.
  2. We gots a bunch of pussies playing out there tonight.
  3. We have to hope for one win and to squeak out the title. We ain't going to compete for it obviously.
  4. My answer: Who cares? Javy didn't respond. Who cares?
  5. We all were hopeful, but I'm sure none of us are surprised.
  6. At least the mystery is over. We now know what's going to happen. One win at best this series.
  7. I'm not feeling it either just because. But even though KC is truly horrible, they had won seven in a row before we went there and won 2 of 3. So maybe we're playing better on the road?? maybe.
  8. Just win, baby. Then do it again Wednesday.
  9. CQ will step up. Oh wait, he would have stepped up if not for the wrist. The key to the series is Dye, Thome, AJP, Konerko, Javy and Mark the vets. It's their team. They should hold a team meeting of just those six guys. Do they want the postseason or not? Strange as it sounds, I'm sure some big leaguers would just as soon have it all be over. I think those six have balls.
  10. Only lefty we can halfway trust is Thornton. Put Boone or Ramirez in and we're doomed. I mean any Twin lefty will clobber either of those two hacks.
  11. Sure does. I don't remember being this scared in '05 but I'm sure I was. Mariotti was reminding us of the monumental collapse he was hoping the Sox would fulfill.
  12. You said it all southsideirish. I hope Ozzie reads some version of your post to the team. This is not just another series. On a side note ... are any of you too scared to watch? Not flaming, just asking personal preference. Would you rather not follow the game on tv or online, on the gamethread at soxtalk.com? Will you just wait for the final score or watch every inning??
  13. Common knowledge that the Sox are a bad team? No matter what happens in Minnie they were not a bad team this year. This was a Jackyll-Hyde team, skitzo, but not a bad team. p.s. Please Ozzie, do not pitch Boone or Ramirez this series. If you do put them on the mound, it means we lose that game.
  14. You wouldn't? Most of us would be dancing in the streets. Two of three would be awesome.
  15. I know what you mean. I kind of have a sinking feeling. This team hasn't been a good road team. When's the last time we really kicked some butt against a good team on the road? For some strange reason, I don't see our guys responding to aggressive managing this season. Hope I'm wrong. I don't blame Oz for trying it though. Might as well try to light a fire rather than just see if we get the good 7 inning Javy or bad Javy.
  16. Why can't our hitters do what Paulie did when we led 1-0 vs. KC with a man on base? That is, man up and get a key hit, blast it over the fence. We're gonna have to bring our long ball to beat Minnie. That's who we are and all we are.
  17. I think Ozzie knows his personnel and probably has a feeling the Twins will be bashing balls off the baggies and this one will be over in the fourth inning if Javy pitches as he has in some "big games" before. Might as well try this to make it clear uh this is a big game, Javy. It's a f***ing huge game. Win game one of the series and it'll take a real choke job to blow the division title. Lose game one and the Twins might steamroll us in Games two and three. Whatever ... I'm sure the Oz detractors will call him out if Javy implodes.
  18. I think it's the same as the series in Wrigley. If we win game one and break their hearts, we take 2 of 3. If we lose game one, we get our butts swept. I doubt the Sox think this way, but truly we are playing with the house's money, so to speak. We have a 3 game lead in the loss column entering the series. The worst that can happen is we leave even in the loss column. Thus we should enter with cockiness and swagger and kick their ass. Imagine how low we'd be if we were three down right now. C'mon Sox, play loose, but aggressive. If you win game one you'll be up 4 in loss column and it shouldn't be too difficult to split the next two. Lose game one and they'll be waving the hankies and we'll probably get swept. So my prediction is if we win game one, we take 2 of 3. If we lose game one, put it on the board, a Twins sweep.
  19. This is a great thread. I would think a reporter in previewing the game would or should ask Oz about playing BA in center for defense. How has Swish done out there in the dome this season? I would assume Griffey will be a disaster out there.
  20. Oscar Gamble was so likeable. I wonder if I remembered to put him on my list.
  21. He's terrible. He let Dwayne Wise pinch hit the other day. Oops ... Wise hit a grand slam. I am not saying Ozzie is perfect. I'm saying after all his years in the big leagues, he really does know baseball. I think he's a good manager. That's all. He's a good manager. I really take exception to those who think he is a buffoon or a "bad" manager. He's not a bad manager. I know opinions are opinions and I agree everyone has a right to an opinion. But I really think it is horses*** to say he is a "bad" manager. First of all he led us to the title (oh wait ... that was in spite of Ozzie I guess). Second of all, the guy f***ing knows baseball. I will argue to my death bed on that one. If you say Ozzie doesn't know baseball I believe you are a fool. Notice I did not say he was a great manager. I think he's a good manager. Big Hurt ... seriously how can you say Ozzie "has no idea of what he is doing." I respect your opinion that Oz sucks but my God you act like he's Terry Bevington. Ozzie Guillen is not a buffoon. My god. p.s. Do you realize how many moves he must have made that WORKED in our 05 run? You just shake your head and say I'm living in the past. We lost one postseason game. You know how many of those games were close? Think of the moves he made in those games. I know ... when we win the moves are obvious. Bulls***. He's a good manager.
  22. I'm with Brian. I'm going to think very hard bout this one before going on the record with my final prediction. That would be so cool if Sox fans would flock to Minnesota to the games. I know that probably won't happen with people working and all, but wouldn't it be cool if we had a presence in the stands, there?
  23. So, think hard before making your comments and official predictions for the big series. We usually suck in the HumptyDome, but it's not like we've never won some games there. We have been pretty s***ty on the road; they've been great at home. It will be playoff intensity atmosphere, maybe even greater than playoff atmosphere. So how do we do? Favorably, or lay down and die, or somewhere in between?
  24. I'm going to take one for the team. Sometimes we do better after I enter a game thread and leave. Adios. -- The Kansas City Chiefs are finally worthy of the 'e' word. They are an embarrassment. My god they suck in getting drilled by Atlanta.
  25. If we could get in the playoffs it would be a new start for Swish .000 batting average entering the second season. He's not been real good thus far.
