Joe Crede is a legend ... in my mind at least.
-
I don't how he could miss any Sox fans top 50 list. The guy was a joy in Chicago.
-
Oz was fun to watch, always fun to watch. Free swinger. I loved watching him play for us year after year.
-
If the games aren't rained out Saturday, do you agree these 2 combined with the Twins' two could be the entire season? Will the race be decided Saturday and Sat night?
-
Then I'll take that as a plus from tonight. We did beat KRod and won the Angels series. I just can't believe we can't do better than 1 of 4 from Toronto with so much at stake. We are a veteran laden team and even though baseball is a marathon I'd hope we could do better than 1 of 4.
-
That's a great way to put it. Maybe it's the name Konerko like Grabowski.
-
I knew you wouldn't comment on my post and just rip me for my love of Oz. Yes I love Ozzie. The Angels arguably aren't the Angels right now, coasting in with the big lead. We didn't face Weaver who would have shut us down.

Whatever happened to the days teams could find set up men as reliable as closers?? Our relievers not named Jenks are so inconsistent it's sickening. Remember the guy that used to be our reliable set up man? I have no idea why I'm forgetting his name except I'm so mad we lost 3 of 4. We haven't had s*** in the pen in terms of reliability except for Jenks since he got hurt a couple years ago.
-
It's so easy to say something about this team you regret later. Like this statement: Can we beat any good teams??? Ever??? God. They come in and win 3 of 4 from us. Are you s***ting me? Three of four? In a pennant race in the Cell? On nights like this it's so easy to say we're just not good enough to be talking postseason. I'll shut up and copy and paste the first few paragraphs of Gonzales' story. I have to at least agree with the headline. God this team is maddening!!! White Sox blow a big opportunity (PHOTOS) By Mark Gonzales Chicago Tribune (MCT) CHICAGO — The White Sox missed a chance Thursday night to expand their lead in the American League Central. But after Toronto’s mastery in a 6-4 victory, the Sox at least won’t have to worry about the Blue Jays entering the final 16 games of the regular season. The Sox ended their season series with a 1-7 record against the Blue Jays, scoring just 18 runs. Not even seven shutout innings from Gavin Floyd were good enough as the Jays broke out with a six-run eighth inning off Floyd and relievers Matt Thornton and Ehren Wassermann.

That's a great picture of Paulie with his fist in the air. One of the best Sox ever. What a great trade in acquiring him.
-
He's definitely a favorite of mine. It was nice to see him come back and excel in Detroit when some thought he was finished becuase of injury. I wonder if he was ever a steroid guy. Whatever, I love Maggs.

Wasn't Broadway a No. 1 draft pick? Just asking.
-
Amen. When he is bad like tonight ... he almost blew it for Mark who was OUTSTANDING.
-
I can't tell if you are joking. What the f*** is wrong in having Jenks as closer? My god. I'm sorry but Dotel is horses*** at least for his salary. Thornton is nowhere near as reliable as Bobby. I repeat: What's wrong with having Jenks close? People hate their own reliable players so much it sickens me. Dotel and Thornton over Bobby? My god.
-
Royals have quit, simply quit on their doofus of a manager. However ... you can bet they'll play their ass off against us. They think it's a rivalry, KC vs. Chicago. They have played us tough all year and will again in those 3 games in KC. What a joke of a franchise.
-
Harold was productive enough to get put in the Sox Hall of Fame. Dye is also one of my favorites. He's a class act.
-
I can't remember the exact situation, but I think the last game I watched on TV, Thornton was horses***. I know he walked at least 2 guys and pitched like a woos that night.
-
Great victory with the wild new lineup. My question to you though is ... Is Dotel worth the money?? The bad Dotel is quite annoying; the good Dotel is a delight.
-
Rowand is one of those players that never should have been traded. I love Thome but was there ANY OTHER WAY we could have acquired him? Rowand was the wrong guy to trade off the title team.
-
He's kind of like Harold was in quiet excellence.
-
That's a pretty good philosophy to have IMO.

AJ can't bunt. Yet every day in BP these guys plop down bunts. Why do they have to bunt as part of BP? Because they might be asked to bunt. I just told you in the exact same situation, Boston's swinging away resulted in a DP and we won that game. Their fans had to be saying what a moron their manager was for letting Pedroia swing away instead of bunt. I look at the big picture. Our team is in the hunt to win it despite a team with many many weaknesses. I credit the manager some for that success. He has reasons for every move he makes. He's a damn good manager. I did not like Bevington and some of the other hacks who couldn't put us in position to win a division. If a manager asks you to bunt, it should be in your repertoire to bunt. Didn't AJP play in the NL? How many bunts did he get down there. I'm sure it's in the stat books somewhere. -
We're not dead yet, but it sucks when the worst possible scenario entering the day did happen. Lose game one, suck in game two and see the Royals lay over in the BaggieDome. I'm not giving up, but champions don't drop two games at home this time of year on the same day. Prove me wrong, Sox.

He was great.

What do you want me to say about Ozzie?? I haven't studied tonight's games, but when he brings in a reliever and that reliever gets shelled as has happened like that stiff KW brought in from the Royals ... it's Oz's fault? Bulls***. If he leaves in the starter and the starter gets ripped in the sixth, it's Oz's fault. If AJP can't get a bunt down, it's Oz's fault. Yeah it's Oz's fault cause he's the manager. I look at the big picture. He has this very questionable team in the hunt in September. We have no team speed at all. We have a suspect starting rotation that has overachieved (thanks in large part I'm sure to Oz and Cooper both). We still have a shaky bullpen except for Bobby. Aside from Bobby, that bullpen for the most part has been average to a little below average. What else do you want me to say?? That one game when Ozzie bunted AJP and they walked CQ and we didn't score, everybody blamed Ozzie. The very next inning, Boston didn't bunt in the exact same situation and the guy (Pedroia? somebody) hit into a DP. Oz is good.
