  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) You noticed I never discuss things I am called on? Are you serious? You are like talking to a brick wall that is tuned into Rush Limbaugh. When we all discuss anything Trump has done or said your canned response is "well if he did all these bad things he should be impeached." Gtfoh. You don't explain positions. Rush Limbaugh and Fox and Friends fill your head with ideas and you say "hey maybe Trump is da Man now,eh?" With zero context. Trump is enriching himself and his friends, he sold his f***ing soul and this nations soul to Russia. s*** will eventually hit the fan and when it does, you will still be sitting there saying "well, Rush said this...." What jokes does Trump make? All he does is insult people he considers enemies, and he literally called the press The Enemy. The man has done nothing but lie repeatedly and the media reports it and they are called fake news! That's so f***ed up and you are completely oblivious You just railed on and on and again didn't respond to the discussion at hand: the correspondent dinner. So yes, AGAIN you did not discuss the thing you were called on. You are good at this and good at turning it around and nailing me hard to the wall. But I asked you specific stuff about the correspondent dinner and you turned it on me. I realize I am those things you accuse me of sometimes, but still. You are the master of winning arguments. You did not discuss what I called you on at all. ... Again, Trump would have had to have rocks for brains to go to that dinner at this point in time.
  2. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 05:44 PM) Definitely uninterested in the rebuild.too bad, deal with it. It's tough on Sox fans who don't care about prospects and want to win now and will care about prospects when they are good big leaguers. I do realize Hawk gets paid a ton however compared to a normal fan who hates the snail's paced so called rebuild.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 07:07 PM) Trump is a coward who can dish it and cannot take it. The end 100 days into his presidency? As much as he's hated by the press and vice versa? You don't agree it would have been horrid at this juncture? I've watched Obama at those last two dinners and he's funnier than most stand up comics. Precious priceless stuff. But the press loved him and he tolerated or liked them. What could possibly have been good about Trump attending that dinner at this juncture? I can't even imagine the press laughing at his jokes because at least 100 days in, there is real hatred between the 2 groups. I notice you won't discuss things you are called on. Is this your mojo or simply a trend? I at least explain my positions in here. Where I get in trouble is when people say I repeat my positions ad nauseum. Can you even suggest why it would have been a good idea for Trump to attend that dinner? How it could possibly have been anything but a disaster for him? He's outnumbered with hundreds of haters to one Trump. He'd have to have rocks in his head to attend such a gathering this year.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) Also has a torn meniscus and high ankle sprain. 6-9 month recovery after surgery, which hasn't been scheduled yet. Very sad. Shouldn't all teams meet soon and discuss what they tell players all the time? Do not slide into first base. Do not lunge into first base. Run through the base is all you need to do. Doing it incorrectly may have cost a ballplayer his career here.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 06:06 PM) At his (unneeded) rally, Drunpf made fun of the fact that the president was absent from the correspondents dinner that he was too thin skinned to attend. Must still need aloe on the burns that Obama left last time he was there His relationship with the press is so bad it wouldn't have been right IMO to attend this year's correspondents dinner even though presidents traditionally attend. I guess they could have pulled it off if say, they allowed Hannity to walk Trump to the podium and mock interview him or something. Trump really would have needed the one media ally to make the dinner anything but inappropriate. Cause really, the disdain for Trump is so extreme I don't really think any jokes he made would have been anything but cringeworthy. I don't know who else speaks at that dinner, but it would have been tough to not really offend Trump rather than joke with him. Do you agree this wasn't the year for Trump at that dinner? I mean we haven't had this type of hate between president and media in a while. If the second Bush handled the correspondence dinners well, I guess my position is off base here. He was pretty much despised/mocked by the media on a regular basis.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 10:06 PM) The current estate tax only applies to estates over $5.5 million. As such, it only affects about 0.2% of all estates in any given year, according to the Tax Policy Center. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estate_tax_...1982_-_2010.gif I wish people would not lie, not you, but the writer. That just doesn't seem right. I know tons of little people complaining about their parent died and all this money got taxed heavily, even though the person who died paid taxes on that money his/her whole life. I know some families in which the one remaining parent has given his/her kids say, 30,000 bucks at a time, so as to get them that money before they die and it won't be taxed as you can jump dump it in the bank. I feel like the little guy is affected by estate tax even in cases where the estate is well below 5.5 mill. WTF?
  7. QUOTE (Dunning White Sox @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 03:33 AM) Obviously it would be hard to expect the team to keep up this great start. That being said I think we can expect maybe a tampered down version of this play until we start trading off players. My thought is: say we are only 2-3 games back in the division at the deadline and we proceed to gut the team. What does that do to the locker room and how does Renteria keep the remaining guys up and motivated? As a fan I understand and want the rebuild but we heard from the players in the offseason about how they were sick of hearing about rebuild and how they thought we could be good this year. These guys are professionals and know these things were coming but if I was a player I'd be frustrated to get into contention and then have front office gut the team. It's an unusual spot to be in and i wonder what some of the conversations are like right now. It will be an interesting job for Renteria the rest of the year. I can't imagine he'd be thrilled about it either but i think he knew what he was getting into when he took the job that this was coming. I don't think anyone at the start of the year thought we'd be having this conversation but here we are one month in and are in first place! Nobody cares about the locker room. Nobody cares about being in first place. If the Sox are 1-2 out near the trading deadline, people will be dying to trade all the usual suspects for prospects. It's the rebuild that the vocal fans care about, not some quest for a weak division title. It's just the way it is. The new wave statniks love this rebuild and that's that. The Sox will trade off everybody they can even if they happened to be 2-3 games in first near the deadline. Rebuilding is IN right now. Personally I want to win and scrap the alleged rebuild. The reality is the Royals blow chunks, the Tigers suck, the Twins suck and Cleveland is great.
  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 03:08 AM) Words words words words words, words words. Words words words. Words words words words words, words words. Words words words. Words words words words words, words words. Words words words. Words words words words words, words words. Words words words. Words words words words words, words words. Words words words. Words words words words words, words words. Words words words. Words words words words words, words words. Words words words. I'm just saying Rock Raines has ruined the thought of a good start by telling us 23-10. It wasn't me. He did it.
  9. Excellent win. Congrats Renteria and Sox. However Rock Raines got me to thinking we can't even be happy about this for one reason: 23-10. This means nothing cause of 23-10. I love Saladino. Very happy Anderson jacked that 2-0 pitch into the seats. Avi already has earned his salary. They ought to double it as motivation for the rest of the season. Even the biggest Avi haters always have enjoyed his hustle. He's always busted ass. Nice catch to end game. GREAT game. But rememberr 23-10. This is all meaningless.
  10. Supposedly a big tax cut is coming. Isn't that good news? Is Trump becoming da man?
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 05:57 AM) http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/201...-history-215075 Hillary Clinton's First 100 Days: An Alternate History Good stuff. Her approval ratings would probably be not much better than Trump at this point...maybe 3-5 points higher, at best. I repeat, the radio talk show guys say Trump has been awesome thus far and there's a liberal attack on the White House that is failing.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 01:40 AM) Royals 7-14 now. Jealous. Royals fans are hoping Jorge Soler is the key to turning it around. Right now they are slumping. They can't hit and Gordon looks like he's finished offensively. Still a great defender. Except for Duffy, their starters aren't very good. Their bullpen is not that good. They might be a last place team. No bats. Bad bullpen. Bad rotation. Great defense.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 03:01 AM) If they go 12-1 the next 13, they will be right on pace with last year's team. I realize last year's 23-10 renders all discussion stupid at this stage of the season. I mean I wish I could remember last year's 23-10 and how sharp the Sox looked and how well they were playing. But I have no clue. Can't remember. This year's team obviously won't be 23-10. We'll be under .500 after 33 games obviously. I get madder than anybody when the Sox anemic hitters get shut out and I expect us to get shut out a historic amount of times this year. But when Avi wins another game with his bat it does impress me. When this pathetic bullpen excels like this, I'm happy. And when some really horrible starters pitch this well, I'm ecstatic. Right now I'm thrilled with Renteria. Again, after our 100th loss I'll be furious at him I'm sure, but the team sure looks interested under a real manager.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 10:45 PM) paging greg... I'm glad we swept those cocky assholes. I know it's early but KC always got well on the White Sox the last couple seasons. No matter how bad KC was playing they'd kick our ass. I realize last year the Sox were 23-10 so there's no way to compare. I don't remember how well the Sox were playing at 23-10. I know how bad they were the rest of the year though. I still expect this team to finish with over 100 losses but so far the team looks A-OK in terms of caring. That home run today by Avi was a huge home run. A tie game against a world championship team and he crushes a two-run bomb to win the game and assure the sweep. I'm sure I'll eat my words and be blasting Renteria after we lose our 100th game but so far the Sox at least look like a big league team, not the clown squad of the past four seasons. AVI baby!
  15. This is why the Sox should have tried it without a clown like Robin managing. We would have never had to rebuild. We had some decent teams on paper in the Robin era and sucked. This team's roster is a joke and the Sox are playing good baseball because we have a good manager to go with Coop.
  16. No need to slide into first. It's proven it takes longer for u to slide than run thru the bag.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 02:21 AM) Looked like he got turned around and was backpedaling as the wind caught it Good point, El Rockin.
  18. I'm surprised Leury crashed into the wall there. He had a step or two to play with.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 02:10 AM) Let's hope Leury Garcia and Davidson start getting rewarded with more playing time until they force the manager to take them out when they cool down. There's just zero need to run Asche and May out there unless you're deliberately trying to lose. At this point, with the AL Central looking as bad as it does, it's going to be difficult to get to 90+ losses. Obviously KC SHOULD warm up offensively (eventually), we caught them at the perfect moment, but MN still has pitching issues and KC has concerns with nearly every part of their team except Herrera, Duffy, Kennedy, Cain, Perez and Moustakas. I'd rather see a pitcher bat than Asche or May. I despise Asche. Nobody could hate May, u just feel sorry for his ineptness.
  20. This is one of those games where u wonder why players can't stroke balls in the gaps all the time rather than do what they usually do. Duffy's not a bad pitcher and it's gap heaven.
  21. QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 02:12 AM) Deliberate? Maybe payback for hitting Cain. Obviously deliberate. The Royals don't take s***, especially from our Sox. With two out I'd hit Hosmer here.
  22. The Sox have a lousy team and still easily could lose this game. The team still could lose 105-110 games. But I will say this. It's nice to have a real manager. I bet we wouldn't have had to go through this rebuild if we had Renteria instead of the clown prince of baseball managing us the last five years. Robin was a GREAT player, but our team was a.) lifeless. b.) fundamentally horrid. c.) ridiculously bad on the basepaths under him. Again we got a guy thrown out on the basepaths tonight and Renteria is no Al Lopez obviously, but I betcha if Renteria had the Sox teams with Sale and Q and of the last few seasons instead of Robin we'd have won the division once or twice. Robin was that bad in terms of preparing the team in spring training.
  23. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 09:47 PM) Mods I'm actually serious about this. What's the line? Because I'm on my last of 3 strikes, over the 13 years I've been here, and I've been completely civil in the year I've been back because I enjoy this community and would like to remain apart of it. However, if this type of thing is allowed now, then I guess I don't need to be as conscious of my tone as I have been for the last year. Input would be appreciated. Because that all sounds like a personal attack. /snowflake I love Reddy and I forget if Reddy likes greg or is a greg hater. I think Reddy may like me.
  24. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) I don't think anyone compares to what the Sox can offer though. Power hitting infielder(Frazier), solid backup infielder(Saladino), good hitting outfield with some power(Melky), starting pitching (shields, Gonzalez, Holland), relief pitching (Swarzak, Jones), closer (Robertson) They are a garage full of options for a competing team Only Robertson has value of the guys you mentioned
  25. QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 02:02 AM) http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/225...opicId=27118146 Say what you want about Benetti, but he is as enthusiastic about the White Sox and working for the organization as anyone. Hope he continues to be successful and has a solid career with the White Sox Here's a vote for Benetti. I love him. I worship Hawk but even I can't take many more of the games with the crabby version of Hawk. If he's happy I'm happy. If he's know it all Hawk and acting crabby, Stoney gets quiet and it's hard to listen to those games. Benetti forever! The happy Hawk forever! The crabby Hawk ... ugh.
