  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:45 AM) The Sox are going to start winning games again. They aren't going to play the next 27 games at 7-20. The thing that's going to happen is they'll play well enough to make some trades that won't make a difference when they ultimately lose to division teams the final 33 games of the season. I don't know about the winning coming. We are not built to win at the Cell. That means a .500 home record at best. Our teams have never played very well on the road so I'd say .500 max at home, 15 below on road means 15 under .500ish record. That is if we somehow play .500 at home.
  2. Guys, you do realize Kansas City is going to come in with a 7 game losing streak and sweep the Sox don't you? That will be the final indignity of this stretch of crappiness. We can't win games in the Cell with a powerless team. Hosmer, Perez, Cain and Morales are enough to beat us 3 in a row.
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 12:46 AM) I am on board with that. Things are pretty bleak looking in this game but there is always tomorrow El Rockin, where do u live? What do u do for work? I just think u are the best fan ever and would love to learn your life story. You sir are the best fan on this board by far. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 12:47 AM) Who scouts these players for the Sox? Exactly. We need better advance scouts and ones who make trade decisions and free agent decisions. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 12:48 AM) Just because I haven't seen anyone else say it: Erik Johnson would be doing better I don't know how he'll do with San Diego but I wish he'd have had 10 starts in a row rather than the fill in starts in which he proved he couldn't handle. If he sucks he sucks, but I don't think he was used properly here for what it's worth. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 12:56 AM) Are you joking? Padres couldn't even get much for him when offering to pay half his contract. Is Shields better than Peavy? Serious question. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 01:37 AM) I would be shocked if we weren't no hit tonight. Thank God we got all these mentally tough veterans to bring us through the tough times. Exactly. Frazier, Lawrie, Rollins, Melky, even Sale are too quiet. At least say you are embarrassed. Tonight was ridiculous 11-0 and 'cheers' when we get our run. It's like we are the clown princes of baseball. A total joke. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:01 AM) On the plus side, I think this Nats team could dispense the Cubs in October. They look great. I was thinking that that is entirely possible. If any team could do it, it's the Nats IMO.
  4. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:33 AM) Ah the team meeting. Lol This may sound dumb, but there should have been a team meeting right after the choke vs. Texas. At that point we had a GREAT baseball team. Some veteran shoulda said, "I don't want this motherf***ing game to influence us the rest of this f***ing season!! I've seen it hurt teams before! Go to the hotel. Get drunk if you want! Come here tomorrow ready to play!!" Instead, the "book" says you treat all losses the same. Act the same way after wins and losses. Predictably, that ended our season. Can't head things off in baseball. It's a marathon you know.
  5. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:31 AM) And what exactly is there for the fans to be energized about? You left before the fourth inning?? Wow. That is pretty serious stuff. On a summer night? You musta really been disgusted. What's the deal with the concessions closed? What's that about? Tiny crowds?
  6. I just tuned in. Gonna read thru the thread to see if Shields got roasted here as badly as he did on the mound. You gotta be bleepin me? Lasted two innings? All our scouts need to be fired. It's pretty apparent Shields has little left in his tank. What'd we throw away? 10 mill?
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) That possibility exists every night in Colombia, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia. So best stay away from those countries, Gregster. Too many temptations. I was actually drugged once in Colombia in a bar and I had to be tested to see if the woman had sex with me when I was unconscious, lol. Well, it wasn't so funny at the time because my g/f at the time found out I was with another girl and it was a big scandal in our apartment complex. Plus my g/f was a professional masseuse, so that was the end of that. Luckily, she only took about $40 in cash and left all my credit and bank cards, driver's license, passport/visa, etc. Could have been worse. Some guys had their cars/trucks stolen by the same group who were lacing drinks in bars throughout that region of the country. That is crazy that you got drugged. Scary.
  8. Limbaugh says Trump will win in a landslide. This is interesting talk. is it true? Is Donald Trump our next president? The wild thing is if that is true, Hillary still could run and win in four years. Trump almost certainly won't get re-elected and Hillary would definitely win in 2020. That would be the wildest scenario. I'm serious here. Please comment on my point. It truly would be EASY for Hillary in 2020 if the scenario happens that Trump wins. OK, provided he doesn't get impeached and runs again, nobody, not even most Republicans would vote for more of Trump. We'll be so sick of him in four years. Hillary, meanwhile, has no Bernie trying to annoy her. She is the hailed Democrat nominee, wins in a landslide and she makes history this time without even sweating. So either way ... Trump would just be delaying the inevitable for four years.
  9. Glad to read Bernie supporters and Bernie will not give up. They are furious at the media for declaring Hillary the winner before the California primary. Of course that hurt Bernie. Why go out of your way to vote if she's already got the nomination? Can you imagine eight years of Hillary that are coming? There is no way in hell she is going to get ANYTHING passed. So we just have to hope things get no worse than they are now cause nothing good will be happening. The Congress despises her and won't pass a thing.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:34 AM) Haven't had that experience no, but you're a good man Greg. Thank you! I do appreciate that.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 04:27 AM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/16031510...entura-plunking Lawrie vs. Ventura, The Rematch, on Sunday. Will be interesting to see if he appeals, and how many games both he and Machado get from the Commissioner's Office. Reading Yost's comments, it's almost like he's hoping this situation will spark some life back into KC again... http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-colum....html#wgt=blogs Ventura taking a beating on social media. Rightfully so, you risk ending the career of one of the five best players in MLB. We've got to play these guys again? Can you imagine if KC sweeps us and we right their ship AGAIN? Crazy.
  12. I do not want any applause for what I am about to share. I am appalled by this case and the verdict of course. My best wishes to the victim. Sad what she had to go through! I'd like to ask all of you if you ever were in a similar situation. I was in college and at the bar drinking what they call schooners of beer here. It's like 3 beers in one. I probably had 3 of em and was pretty buzzed. I wasn't driving. My roommate was. At the bar I started talking to some girl and my friend started talking to her friend. After the bar closed, my roommate drove us to their dorm and we went up to their respective rooms. I had decided to pick up this girl, ostensibly for a college one-nighter even though I didn't think she was that cute/hot, whatever. But I had decided to go for it as she made it clear I could pick her up. Anyhow, we get to her room and a delayed drunkenness hit her hard. She was all woozy and basically passing out. She was kind of continuing to flirt. My brain (thanks, Mom and Dad for raising me right) immediately said, 'well that's that, no sex tonight.' I put her in her bed, put her blanket on her, said goodbye and put a garbage bin next to her bed, exited her room, and somehow located my friend and busted up his tryst so he could drive me home. He was pissed of course. I think his 'date' ended up coming with us, lol. I never ever considered taking advantage of somebody in a drunken stupor/passed out. It turned out she was a little sister to our frat and at our next function she had a friend come up to me and say how much her friend appreciated my behavior and how she was too embarrassed to thank me. Her friend told me she wanted me to ask her out. I never did. Have any of you had similar situations in college where your 'date' or 'pick up' was passed out like that? How did you handle it?
  13. He's been humbled, but more than that, Humber-ed. As good as he was for a month, he's worse than that by 10 times now. He should throw BP for us. It might help our hitters get their acts together. Man, he's bad.
  14. QUOTE (ronkark @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:55 AM) And again WHY NOT SHIELDS TODAY?! THIS was the winnable game. Now we need to beat Sherzer to snap a 4 game skid?! Uh uh. Just dumb. That's a great question. It's like the Sox don't even try to get people enthused. Why not Shields today? Now like you said, tomorrow even if he pitches great, it'll probably be a 3-1 loss or something.

They're not gonna name Ozzie. As much as I worship him, so to speak, he can't be trusted around his media pals. It'd be an unmitigated disaster. Plus, going from softspoken Robin to Ozzie ... yikes. There probably would be some sort of player revolt as he'd be making headlines daily with his comments.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:55 AM) Ya know, when I heard one of the players say at the beginning of the season that after being swept to open last season that that put them in a funk they couldn't out of. That put up a red flag for me. If that's true ... wow. I'd like to know who the player was. I do believe it's possible for the Sox to quit on a season after going 0-3 or 0-4 but that's incredible at the same time. Obviously the first week of the season means nothing, though an 0-7 start is not ideal.
  17. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:11 AM) It's almost as if the team is playing like they expect it to happen. Very true. But seriously, if it's just going to be Renteria, f*** that? Change for the sake of change sucks. Name a real manager or keep Robin. I really don't want Renteria. I'd rather have Coop just to listen to the postgame interviews. Any chance Coop would get a shot? Again ... just say no to Renteria. Keep ROBIN if that's the guy.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:15 AM) "An 8 game lead over the Tigers on May 6th turns into a 1 game lead for DET over the White Sox 24 games later." Ventura was not content on just having the worst collapse in Sox history (2012). Now he's got something to rival it. It's almost impossible to go 6-19 unless you truly have a pathetic ballclub. It's KW's fault as much as Robin obviously.
  19. QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:13 AM) So you enjoy Stone and Jason's "Great Comedy" and banter when the white sox have lost 19 of 25? and are getting their S*** pounded yet again. It annoys me... even though I can't blame them for trying I guess I will get to the point where I don't care anymore and maybe the will be start sounding funny. This is exactly why I like Hawk he would be pissed like me. To tell you the truth, I'm past the anger stage and I've given up. The losses are coming fast n furious and like I said, emotionally I'm past caring. Of course I want to win, but I just shake my head and go on to the next game. 6-19? That's pretty unbelievable. If the Sox somehow start winning series again I guess I'll apologize and get pumped up again, but I've totally given up. So yes I enjoy their banter. I truly think we have a pathetic team though we'll finish ahead of Minnie it appears.
  20. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 05:06 AM) Wouldn't you be crabby too watching other teams Kansas City Specializing us game after game and having to announce it to boot? Yes, but I mean when Hawk acts crabby toward Stone. When he's in his moods and sounds like he wants to verbally fight Stoney. "Obviously" he'll say or stuff like that. I'm sure there are times Stoney is walking on eggshells not wanting to irritate Hawkeroo.
  21. It's so nice to have this Stoney as the Sox color announcer. He is so 'scared' of Hawk's moods. To get this comfy Stone is awesome and refreshing. I love Stone and this new play by play guy! Hawk is great, but Hawk should be ashamed of himself for being crabby so many nights.
  22. Sox are 6-19 in their last 25. That is very very bad. That is almost impossible to do.
  23. QUOTE (South Sider @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 04:25 AM) Well, it's back to ignoring White Sox baseball I guess. Hopefully I'll see you guys soon, because that will mean they are winning again and it's still not too late in the season. I think it's time for the 'e' word to come out. Robin or somebody on the team has to tell the media this team is an embarrassment to the great city of Chicago. Cause it is that bad. QUOTE (skooch @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 04:34 AM) Two on, nobody out ... trying to work your way back into the game. Once Melky was out, did anyone here in their right mind believe that Lawrie, Shuck, Navarro, and Saladino were going to actually accomplish anything? That is one friggin' sad excuse for a bottom-of-the-order. This lineup has so many holes in it it is mind-boggling. Seriously, it's time to sell, sell, sell. If they give up anything for Bruce or anyone else the entire FO should be sacked. I was so pleasantly surprised and happy at 23-10 that we could win with such a dismal bottom of the order. I didn't really know how it was happening but I was loving it. As far as tonight's game ... this is sad cause I'm starting to think Saladino is just another guy, not the star I hoped he was.
  24. Boy the Sox stink. How in the hell did they go 23-10?? This is one of the worst Sox teams I can ever remember.
  25. QUOTE (Footlongcomiskeydog @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 04:33 PM) It's not a big shock as to why the Sox are struggling against KC, Cleveland, and Detroit. Those 3 teams simply have more talent than the Sox. Cleveland and Detroit much more so. The Sox are just absolutely snake bitten against KC. That KC team has been decimated by injuries this year and they still have the Sox number. You could dress up KC's AAA squad in Royals blue and the Sox would still pee down their leg against them. True dat. Also I firmly believe they "compete" versus us and our team strolls out there and plays it like any other game and normally gets its ass kicked. This is a competitive sport damnit. Compete.
