  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:47 AM) Thanks for just giving up the game here, Ventura. Of course, they will send Kahnle back down and it will be all his fault when you put him in these types of situations before letting him get his feet wet and building some confidence. Of course he's naturally going to try to do too much to prove he belongs and that will always result in overthrowing and his stuff flattening out. At least he broke Maybin's bat on that change-up. That was actually a decent pitch. But you can't throw 96-98 mph arrow straight fastballs past the Tigers for very long. That's true. He gets sent down as a total failure. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:49 AM) I want Rodon, Shuck. Kahnle, Saladino and everyone else GONE by tomorrow El Rockin is getting jaded by the negative game threads. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 01:50 AM) 3-10 against DET, CLE and KC just isn't going to cut it. Especially when Zimmermann was hittable tonight and Rodon's defense collapsed behind him. Scouting. We stand no chance vs. the Central. They know us; we don't go after their weaknesses. We show up and play "our game" and lose. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 02:05 AM) The saber crowd kind of eschew batting average but that's where in comes in handy . 2 pros like Cabrera and Martinez used the count to their advantage to get hits off of Kahnle . They probably get most of their hits in favorable counts. .250 hitters just can't take advantage of counts as good as a .300 hitter can. Batting average is dismissed totally by the Sabes people and yet year after year it's the only thing shown on the screen and only thing the announcers talk about : Batting average, RBI and homers, the old stats. And for pitchers, wins/losses get discussed a ton on the broadcasts and the Sabes people want no part of those. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 02:06 AM) Hahn's gonna have to get a big bat if this team wants to stay in it. Even if they get a mid rotation starter, you're going to need to be able to score a decent amount of runs to win games in this division. This roster isn't good enough. That's the bottom line. Our brethren in the Central again have better rosters and managers.
  2. We don't win Central Division games, especially on the road. That's the Sox mojo during the Robin era. That, Robin lovers, is why he needs to go. I'd agree to him staying if we totally switched up our advance scouting department. Detroit, KC and Cleveland know all the Sox weaknesses putting our coaching staff at a vast disadvantage. I know you guys don't like my gambling tips. But bet the house we finish below KC, Cleveland and Detroit. We'll finish ahead of Minnie. This may sound harsh, but we're probably the only reason the Royals will be in it all the way. The way they beat on the Sox ... that's a lot of victories coming up considering they are 5-1 vs. Chicago this year already. p.s. Welcome to reality, Hawk. If you wanna do all road games, the odds are you are gonna call a lot of losses.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) Yes. The tanking for draft picks is way overblown. They made some great trades and signings, and spend several hundred million. Their prizes for sucking were good in Bryant and Schwarber, but what if Houston did the right thing and drafted Bryant? A lot of that tanking would have been for nothing. Win as many games as u can. Tanking is ridiculous
  4. The Cubs are scary good. Isn't Epstein the guy who broke the jinx in Boston? Didn't he form the team that won the WS the first time? If he does it with the Cubs as well, he's actually a lock for the Hall of Fame. Crazy.
  5. Nice to see the Royals blow a game late and see their fans freak on Twitter. They are ripping Yost unmercifully for using Davis in a 10-5 win the other day, making him unavailable today. What ingrates. Shut the f*** up. You make the WS two years in a row. I still think KC will not win the division. It's Cleveland's year. The Royals have a false sense of security after beating what I consider a fragile Sox team that has no offense. We shall see but it was nice to see KC blow that lead late. Their announcers didn't take it well either. It frankly reminded me of a Sox loss.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 04:26 AM) What in all hell? What is wrong with Biden? What is wrong with McCain. There's a helluva lot wrong with Donald and Hillary. And the country thinks Bernie is from another planet.
  7. QUOTE (Deadpool @ May 24, 2016 -> 12:17 AM) The intentional walk is like a double switch. It's just heavily overvalued. Throwing four pitches isn't necessary. Put the guy on base. Kahnle threw one wild pitch vs. the Royals on an intentional walk and about did it again on the second intentional walk. First time I'd ever seen that. He was not flipping the ball in there but gunning it in there. Stupid.
  8. They never call the low strike anyway. This is stupid. Umps have been enforcing their own strike zone forever. The strike zone is so small already it's unbelievable. Sometimes a belt high pitch is too high. Personally if they had a huge strike zone it would make these guys swing more and cut down on walks. I don't get this at all.
  9. QUOTE (Deadpool @ May 25, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) When you consider it from a heat factor, there was a summer a few years back where it was over 100 for 100 days in a row. If that's going to be the weather, I get why the Rangers would want an indoor facility. It's a lot of money, but it almost has to be done. That's a ridiculous number of scorching games where weather drives fans away from the ballpark. I love GLP as well. Indoor baseball sucks but when it's 100 like that, you just can't sit and watch a baseball game. It's baking in the sun.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:38 AM) If someone would have written that Paulo Orlando, Whit Merrifield, Sal Butera, Brett Eibner and Cheslor Cuthbert would be "leading" the Royals into first place as the calendar turned to June, that same sabremetrics person would definitely be counterarguing "regression to mean" catching up to them at some point. Until this year, Butera and Eibner have been more well-known for their "flowing locks" and "popularity with the ladies" than anything they've ever accomplished on the field. In the end, Cain/Hosmer/Perez are the heart of the team now, and the only ones deserving of All-Star consideration despite the likes of Omar Infante and Morales (hitting under .200) being second at their positions in early All-Star balloting for the 2nd consecutive year. I think their advance scouts are so good it gives them a big time advantage. They are 5-1 vs. White Sox with this collection of stiffs. It seems their pitchers know exactly how to retire our guys and they know exactly where to play them in case they hit the ball. Meanwhile, they just plain attack our corps of relievers. They did the same to Tampa. I mean it's obvious they own the White Sox and I think it's mostly cause of scouting and playing smart compared to our clownish play.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:28 PM) The stuff revealed about trumps scam University is pretty terrible. Structured like a high pressure multi level marketing scam. Why does an alleged multi billionaire need to bilk the elderly and poor single mothers of of thousands of dollars? The media should put all its resources into this story as well as the Hillary email story. Pursue both aggressively and see if both candidates get exposed for being frauds. It's simply hard to believe these are the candidates of the 2 major parties. You have an egomaniac elitist madman in Trump vs. an egomatic elitist madwoman in Hillary. Both are embarrassments to the country. Meanwhile, Bernie is considered a nut for some reason and all those other Republican candidates were severely flawed as well. I think Biden should have run vs. McCain. Two good candidates.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 11:50 PM) All the Robin talk and the franchise being in trouble was laughable. If the bullpen was just bad in KC instead of horrible, the Sox sweep and are 10 over right now in first place. 2 huge wins. They are just as close to being 6-0 on this trip as 0-6. The dreaded lead off walk wasn't so dreaded today. Why do you say that? The Robin talk was totally justified. The team embarrassed itself totally in Kansas City and had played gawd-awful baseball since the Texas choke job. The team was so scared and shell shocked that that one relief pitcher hack couldn't even intentionally walk hitters he was choking so badly. He threw one past the catcher and almost did it again. He single handedly is the reason baseball probably shouldn't change the rule and just wave the batter to first on an intentional walk, which they are discussing. When your team is playing such clown-like baseball it's flat out embarrassing, yes, his proverbial head should have rolled. Renteria should be interim right now. Anyhow, the Robin talk was not laughable. They'd lost 6-7 series in a row and in many cases were playing like buffoons. As far as rebuilding the roster/franchise ... this lineup is putrid. Thank goodness Albers whacked a double today or that would have been another loss. If ever a manager deserved to be fired it was Robin after the third KC choke job.
  13. Leave it to a pitcher to whack arguably the biggest hit of the game for the Sox. Thanks to Albers for saving the day and actually getting people out, too. This team's offense is putrid. Probably too late to noticeably fix it. Suddenly the bullpen has had a few good games in a row after the meltdowns against the Royals' Triple A lineup (minus Cain, Hosmer, who predictably had big series vs. their rivals).
  14. This team can't hit. That's pretty obvious. Frazier's the only guy with power and nobody can find a gap. Six hits won't cut it. Sox will be lucky to survive this half inning.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 02:30 AM) Rangers are going to have to think long and hard if they want to trade Profar and Gallo for another starting pitcher. Tough call. As long as they're in 1st place, they won't have the pressure to do so. But the Mariners are giving them a run for their money so far. Yet another injury to the Royals. Brett Eibner had to taken off the field on a stretcher after going after Brad Miller's triple in LF. Jorge Bonifacio or perhaps Hunter Dozier would be the next man up. Left lateral ankle sprain, no knee damage. That one actually looked bad. Eibner went down.
  16. Not to belabor the point, but the Sox really provided a tonic for what ailed the Royals. 5-1 vs. Chicago already this year. Can you imagine when the Sox visit Kauffman again, which they have to do seven or more times? We'll probably not win a game in Kauffman this year. Somehow the Sox have to become functional, not dysfunctional, vs. KC. I mean just our performance vs. Detroit and KC again this year will be the reason we are not a WC contender.
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 07:18 AM) http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/...mid=fb-share-di For Greg. Thanks for the link. I read most of it, skimmed some of it. Quite frankly, I think it was a poor article. The reporter again didn't really tell me much about Hillary. The part that was most interesting was how she hates the press, which confuses me since if you polled the press, 95 percent of them, maybe more will vote for her. That percentage actively wants her to win. I liked reading she likes a beer with Bill. But quite frankly I don't feel like I learned much about her cept she's a granny (the part about what she likes to read) who wants to be president. I think the author should have attacked the issue about how Hillary allegedly is a mean b****. There wasn't much about that, just the assertion that everybody in her camp loves her. Why do they love her? Thanks for the link. I may go back and read it again but I think the article is way too long and somewhat boring.
  18. When you hit the long ball, it uh, makes a big difference. And when the bullpen, uh, gets people out, you have a chance at a W. Add me to the list of Saladino lovers. Rollins is done; if he doesn't wanna play only twice a week, cut him. Salad-Days will return if we play Saladino!!! Nice to finally win a fricking game. I don't know how to react.
  19. Limbaugh said today the media has to cover every event Trump is at because of the things he says and the riots, etc. He said Hillary's camp is worried because they don't want the media to cover her speeches and appearances. He said she is so boring even Hillary's camp realizes the less people see of her the more apt she is to win. She will try to avoid public appearances because she is so dull. The convention will be sickening cause it will be all about her being the first woman president. History and all that. You guys can deny it, but it truly is a coronation more than an elective process. Superdelegates won't let Bernie make it a race, all the way through the convention coronation coverage then the formality of an election.
  20. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 31, 2016 -> 12:22 AM) Hillary is gonna do everything she can to avoid debates. The only way she probably does it is if she gets to hand pick the moderators and the terms. Will there even be one debate? Two? I'd say one maximum. She won't want the Trump insults. p.s. Notice in all my anti Hillary ramblings, we never see anybody on here write anything where they are proud of their candidate Hillary, fired up about her candidacy and ultimate presidency.Hillary supporters are strangely quiet, it's as if they are supporting the coronation, but nothing about the specific candidate. Think about it ... all my links and ramblings about my dislike for Hillary. Never anything in response that shows love for Hillary. Just a rebuff of my comments or links. Must be sad if you can't get fired up about your candidate.
  21. QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ May 31, 2016 -> 02:14 AM) There's no particular reason for Chicago to have two teams. Clearly the city only cares about one of them. Sell the team. Move the team to Naperville for gawd sakes. Build a fricking palace (like the one they had in Arlington; same principle; Arlington is not Dallas). The suburbs will go CRAZY for White Sox baseball. Very true you are offending a lot of loyal baby boomer south siders who don't wanna come out to suburbia. That's sad, but how many people you talking about there? 10,000 max true South Siders who go to games? The true blue collar Sox fans from the south side probably can't afford tickets/parking/food anyway. New owner. New palace in suburbia privately funded. Just.Do.It. Naperville is the spot. The only people against it would be 50 to 70 year old white guys who live on the south side and eat their beef sandwiches and drink their Schlitz/Old Style. True, they won't be caught dead driving to Naperville, but there's not a ton of them anyway. The money is in suburbia anyway. Make us the elite team. New rich owner! New awesome stadium! The Chicago White Sox play in Naperville!!! Can you dig it?
  22. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 31, 2016 -> 03:05 AM) Using that rationale Ventura throws no one under the bus, supported his players and takes responsibilty. I think he is a leader You think that because you are the best fan in Sox history. I used to be like you, but I can't take it anymore. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 31, 2016 -> 03:12 AM) Runners on 1st and 2nd. No outs and close game-pitchers duel. Cabrera sac blunts and now two in scoring position. One out and your RBI man up. He couldn't deliver. Tgevplay was good. Now if it had worked we would saying how much of a genius Ventura was. Don't bunt and Cabrera grounded into a DP we would have heard how bad Ventura was because he didn't bunt. Bank on it Maybe, but it made more sense not to bunt cause of the fact the team can't hit in the clutch and everybody knows it. Giving up one out just to move the runners is kind of insane. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 31, 2016 -> 03:17 AM) 1968 team started 0-10. They had traded Tommie Agee to the Mets for Tommy Davis. That was a bad trade and they moved Pete Ward to the OF. Disastrous results. All that after almost winning it all in1967 Gary Peters forever! Is Pete Ward living? What does he do for a living? Amazing how those guys that played in that era had to get careers after baseball cause they didn't make enough $$$. I am assuming they get a nice pension now though.
  23. The bunt decision is infuriating. Even if we get one or two runs, think we could have held that? Possibly not considering how bad the pen has been. Thing is Robin had a perfect chance to let Melky hit there. He could have told the second guessers the way we've been pitching lately it would behoove to go for the big inning there. I'm ready to copy Earl Weaver and Sparky Anderson's stance. f*** the bunt. Never bunt. If you have that philosophy then you don't have to worry about "should I have this guy bunt or not?" You just ALWAYS swing away and there's nothing to even think about. With our team and its inability to hit and hit with men on base, it was absurd to bunt. Melky might have thrashed a single. Melky also might have hit into a DP. Who cares? The bunt has become a four-letter word even in the Ozzie era cause we screw it up so many times for one, and for two, we can't hit in the clutch so why bunt runners over?? Wake up Robin. I'm sure players hate the bunt. Robin should think back to his 20 years as a player. There's a reason you hated you or your teammates being called on to bunt, Robin. It f***s up the inning.
  24. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 30, 2016 -> 11:42 PM) Greg, they were up 7-1, 5-1, and 4-2 in the Royals series. The bullpen holds and it's a sweep. It's absolutely hyperbole. Have you seen the NL? Reason we will end up getting a top three pick. 1.) No bats. We've played enough games. It's a pathetic hitting team. Pathetic. Nothing can change that. We can't hit home runs (cept for Frazier (Abreu has 3 in his last 30 games; six all year) which is horrible since we play in the Cell. 2.) No 4 and 5 starters. Taxes the bullpen which blows anyway. 3.) No bullpen. 4.) Defense reverting to crap.
  25. As a playoff-only Hawks fan, and a hockey bandwagon guy, tell me ... will Hawks return to the top next year? Any keys to tweaking the roster to claim another Cup? I remember the last day of the season some drunk was on Grobstien's show trashing Crawford. Les told the guy to wake up. CC is still the best.
