  1. We should be happy. Excellent pitching has prevented an 0-4 start. Hitting has been oh, so bad.
  2. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) I'm ready for Carlos Sanchez. Never really felt Lawrie was much of an upgrade at 2B. 3B sure but with Frazier that point is moot. Lawrie's stats scream "average ballplayer." He is what he is. He's worth the 3 mill a year probably.
  3. Latos looks like Bobby Jenks.
  4. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) This is why spring training stats never matter. Great point. They mean absolutely nothing.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 08:29 PM) Because if you are negative now with the team 2-1 playing decently, what could actually make you happy during the season? First nitpick over who they keep as the 25th guy, and then when they do use the bench, complain they are using the bench. Every little thing. Why can't you just enjoy the game? It always comes back to but. The Sox won but, he's hitting well and looks like he's improved but, he is pitching well but, to each his own but to me that's kind of miserable. I'm not miserable watching the games. When negative stuff happens and a game thread is going on, it's easy to rail on the negative happenings rather than just wait for the rally. For instance what does it hurt to point out Lawrie, Abreu and several other guys aren't hitting?
  6. Sox are stuck in a ground ball rut.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) Should have traded for Jay Bruce. 2 homers today. Hitting .500 on the season. On pace for one of the greatest seasons of all time. You are the kind of fan who always thinks it's early in the season, IMO. Then eventually season is ova. Why do you care so much that some of us are negative? This team has sucked for several years now. Some of us are more impatient. Who cares ultimately?
  8. Baseball has changed so much the last few years. Now with such lack of power it's like the old days when pitchers were way ahead of the hitters early in the season.
  9. Sox have hit a ton of ground balls this series. Hopefully they'll elevate in the Cell.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) I think it's pretty clear the Sox have no chance against Graveman today, and Latos will be lucky if he doesn't give up 7 runs. Fans are never gonna change why worry about it?
  11. Melky finds a hole. Time for Abreu to hit a bomb.
  12. On paper, Garcia, Shuck, Lawrie, Navarro and Saladino is a very inept stretch of hitters. Hopefully Lawrie will get it going.
  13. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 03:53 AM) Iirc the "aw shucks" is just an act and the guy has a reputation for being a monumental ahole How come when a Republican is called a monumental ahole (without proof) it's entirely acceptable and I call Hillary something like that and am attacked and told to offer proof or else.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 02:51 AM) http://inthesetimes.com/article/18942/why-...hillary-clinton That article was horrible. It basically said if you don't like Hillary you are a sexist person. Wrong. She is unlikeable not because she is a woman and powerful women are often despised (the article said it not me). She is unlikeable for many many reasons you've heard me utter before.
  15. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 05:19 AM) I understand it was Sonny Gray but he walked four guys and gave up three hits too. Just a shame to waste the performance Rodon gave and a bad flashback to last year as far as poor offense. Offense just hasn't looked very good at all in the series so far. Will be very interested to see what happens Thurday. Latos is pitching, expect the A's to score some runs...can the Sox finally score say six or seven and maybe take three of four? Considering they won the first two getting a split in the series would be a downer, you've got to take the series. We'll see. Mark Winning three of four while scoring 6-8 runs in the final game of the set would make for an awesome opening series. Losing 3-1 or something like that would mean 2-2 and an OK start, but not that great.
  16. Pathetic game. You give up two runs, you need to win. Oh well, 2-1 in series is nice. Some hitters are really looking lousy/mediocre so far. 2-1 in this series is the best we could be hitting like this. 3 very good starts. If our rotation keeps this up, it will be sad if the hitting lets us down. Defense might be OK this year. As expected, it looks as if catcher will be a black hole offensively. Short and second may not be very good at all (even though Rollins hit that awesome homer last night) and Avi appears to be a possible black hole. I'll take 2-1 on the road so far, but horrible loss tonight because of the offense.
  17. Easy to second guess, but I think Saladino shoulda played tonight. Don't let Rollins think he's gonna get 550 at bats this year.
  18. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 04:27 AM) I dont know he fouled off 7 pitches hard to call that pathetic. Fair enough. The final swing couldn't have been worse, tho.
  19. Rollins with the pathetic at bat. Couldn't have tapped it to a worse spot.
  20. We need another stud at bat from Jimmy like late last night.
  21. Make 'em pay! He was out. We caught a break. Cmon Sox. Rally time.
  22. He's out; Semien is having a good game.
  23. It'd be nice if Frazier could hit his second homer of the year and we win it in 14-15 innings.
  24. We could use another good hitter. Couldn't we trade one of our stud starters for a big lefty bat?
  25. A "tip your cap" evening I guess. Unless there are heroics late vs. the bullpen.
