That's the kind of offense you want from 2-3 hitters. Hawk with the bad call again.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) Gotta love game threads, all the people on the menstruation cycles rear their ugly heads. You can't say that at a Donald Trump rally. You'd get punched.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) With Latos approaching 70 pitches, it might be a good idea to get someone loose. Latos didnt work deep all spring. One more inning possibly?

QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) Greg doesnt use defensive stats so he'll ignore that Semien is a second baseman not a ss. But ... nice play Lawrie right there. I'm not rooting for him to suck. Saved the game right there possibly.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) Except for defense. Arguably he'd be better at second base. He's a lousy shortstop.

Semien's stats for last season are almost identical to Lawrie's.

Latos going for the four-out inning.

We should be happy. Excellent pitching has prevented an 0-4 start. Hitting has been oh, so bad.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 08:41 PM) I'm ready for Carlos Sanchez. Never really felt Lawrie was much of an upgrade at 2B. 3B sure but with Frazier that point is moot. Lawrie's stats scream "average ballplayer." He is what he is. He's worth the 3 mill a year probably.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) This is why spring training stats never matter. Great point. They mean absolutely nothing.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 08:29 PM) Because if you are negative now with the team 2-1 playing decently, what could actually make you happy during the season? First nitpick over who they keep as the 25th guy, and then when they do use the bench, complain they are using the bench. Every little thing. Why can't you just enjoy the game? It always comes back to but. The Sox won but, he's hitting well and looks like he's improved but, he is pitching well but, to each his own but to me that's kind of miserable. I'm not miserable watching the games. When negative stuff happens and a game thread is going on, it's easy to rail on the negative happenings rather than just wait for the rally. For instance what does it hurt to point out Lawrie, Abreu and several other guys aren't hitting?

Sox are stuck in a ground ball rut.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 08:21 PM) Should have traded for Jay Bruce. 2 homers today. Hitting .500 on the season. On pace for one of the greatest seasons of all time. You are the kind of fan who always thinks it's early in the season, IMO. Then eventually season is ova. Why do you care so much that some of us are negative? This team has sucked for several years now. Some of us are more impatient. Who cares ultimately?

Baseball has changed so much the last few years. Now with such lack of power it's like the old days when pitchers were way ahead of the hitters early in the season.

Sox have hit a ton of ground balls this series. Hopefully they'll elevate in the Cell.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) I think it's pretty clear the Sox have no chance against Graveman today, and Latos will be lucky if he doesn't give up 7 runs. Fans are never gonna change why worry about it?

Melky finds a hole. Time for Abreu to hit a bomb.

On paper, Garcia, Shuck, Lawrie, Navarro and Saladino is a very inept stretch of hitters. Hopefully Lawrie will get it going.
