  1. Good to see the Sox win a blowout. I said yesterday we never blow anybody out so I must give props where it's due.
  2. Another good opening on SNL this weekend. They've got Hillary down pat I tell ya. That skit two weeks ago on her trying to get in the subway was priceless also the background people. It was obvious they filmed it without shutting the subway down which is cool how New York is too busy to cooperate with a mere national TV show.
  3. I don't have the energy to think Frazier will be another bust from the NL who joined the Sox. I prefer to agree he'll rake in the Cell this year. I just can't believe he'd pull a LaRoche and completely suck. I bet Frazier heats up. Lots of guys can't hit on the road.
  4. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 17, 2016 -> 09:36 PM) Offense oh offense where for art thou offense? 12 games played, seven games three runs or less. Mark People get mad when me and Caufield compare the Sox to KCR, but the Sox and Royals have had an almost identical season so far. Both teams aren't hitting at all yet. Both have had good defense and good pitching. The difference is on paper the Sox starting pitching is so much better than KC's. One would think KC's reluctance to add an ace like Shields or Cueto will cost them the pennant this year. Hopefully the Sox can at least split with KC in the season series but it's true what Hawk says about "it's not who you play it's when you play them." Hopefully we'll catch KC when our bats are sizzling and theirs isn't in the mood to face top quality lefties (and my boy the ineffective Danks who usually beats KC like Chen beat us).
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 17, 2016 -> 08:45 PM) Go blow Danks lol Better watch it ... attacks mean BAN. Sexual orientation has nothing to do with anything. And I am straight btw.
  6. Poor Avi doesn't come through in these type situations at least at this stage of his career.
  7. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 17, 2016 -> 08:42 PM) Sit Frazier tomorrow Why? Let him go through this slump as the team is still doing well in the W/L column.
  8. Lot of road games this season. As long as we play .500 on the road or a little better and kick ass at home, we'll get the WC. You couldn't expect to keep winning road games galore. Sox hitting has become a concern, though.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 07:39 PM) Makes you wonder if they realize other teams don't have Cy Young contending 5th starters, but most of the punching bags were sent away. This one remained and they have 152 games to keep punching. I love Danks but I'd rather have two righty starters to go with lefties Sale, Q and Rodon. Why are the Sox so crazy bout lefty starters? I think Danks could be a good reliever if he throws strikes. Worth a shot. Duke blows. QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 17, 2016 -> 12:06 AM) Danks is at 80 pitches. If he goes 8 IP with 4 ER, he kept the team in the game and gave them innings, it's not a terrible start for a 5th starter. I still love Johnny Danks but he's really been our only bad starter so far.
  10. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) LMAO why? He sucks. It's not his fault he's overpaid. I don't really consider his salary when I think about him. He battled back from adversity. He happened to pitch well at times last season, especially games I watched. I like competitors and guys who battle adversity. Seems to me he's a standup guy who gives his all and is much better 5 starter (at least last year) than people give him credit for. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 05:53 PM) greg's MO is to idolize every universally disliked Sox player/manager Not true. I hated Dunn and wasn't the only one; I hated Swisher and Erstad. I was down on Gillaspie. I disliked LaRoche big time last year. I've been down on many of our relievers through the years. I have loved several that others hate, however, good point. I loved Ozzie, Jon Garland, Danks, Jenks, Dye and stood up for D. Wise but didn't "love" him.
  11. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 06:08 AM) Jeez. People forget so easily how often Danks pitched decent enough to give us a chance to win last year. I love Danks. I may be his biggest fan.
  12. Man, this start to the season is refreshing. Sale (knock on wood, there's no such thing as jinxing somebody BTW) is pitching like Verlander when Verlander was dominant. He looks like one of those guys who is gonna win every night he takes the mound. I'm getting to the point I don't hate Melky anymore. It's like he knows he can't hit for power so he's gonna be a new Melky. Didn't have to use Robertson tonight. We didn't blow the 1-0 lead late like we would have last year. Robin looks like he's become a good manager. Keep it up, Sox. It's not easy to win on the road as teams prove every single year. When u hot u hot; let's stay hot!!! Thank you Mr. Hahn for appearing to improve the team; thank u Robin for becoming a good manager. GO SOX!!
  13. Nice to see Eaton and Melky hitting well. I can handle this type of Melky, the one with absolutely no power if he keeps finding holes. Team won't stay this hot, but it seems like a professional unit so far and we're playing the same game other teams are playing. MLB, not the bizarre brand of ball of the last 2 years or so under Robin. To those who were in spring training ... is this just a coincidence or did we look much better in ST this year in terms of effort, drills, etc? I realize the Sox hit great in ST this year and the hitting has been just so/so. I'm talking fundamentals and looking like a real team. Was it a better spring or is the spring totally inconsequential comparing this year's start to last year's?
  14. The Avi haters need to admit he's not done yet. Like he said on postgame if he can learn to swing at strikes he still might have a career. What a great play by Frazier. The pitching is great again. Nice to see Robertson pouring strikes in there. Suddenly Robin looks like a great manager. No problem winning in Minnesota's ballpark this time. That's what happens when players perform. It's great to have a nice first two weeks. The alternative is what's going on in Minnesota and it just sucks to have a record like that.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 14, 2016 -> 03:05 AM) I like Sands after watching this interview. He seems like a humble guy. I just read tonight he was a fan favorite in Cleveland. At his height and weight, could he hit 20 homers if he splits time at DH with Avi?
  16. 1.) Who the heck is Jerry Sands?! Boom. Home run. 2.) Rodon. Wow. 3.) Nice catch by Eaton. Don't think Avi woulda got to it. 4.) Nate Jones and Robertson with the nice work late. Could really hear those Twins fans booing. This winning is fun. Keep it up, Sox.
  17. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 03:19 PM) He called her elitist and entitled. Reddy called him s exist for it. I'll laugh at that jump every single time. Exactly. I don't really get this theme that my complaints about Hillary are superficial, thus sexist. As we've pointed out, candidates ALWAYS are judged by things such as looks and other TMZ-ish type things (Donald's hair; Nixon's sweat, Ford's clumsiness). Remember I am a huge BILL Clinton fan. I just despise Hillary. Yes there are certain superficial things I hate like her screaming at me on TV. OK I don't like her voice. But what about the portrait's of Bernie's accent that has been mocked. Carson's voice was mocked. My point is this isn't a sexist thing. Now am I superficial in my dislike/hatred of Hillary? Not completely. Yes I hate her screaming but I also point to the stories of her being just not a nice person, her elitism (claiming she was poor), the stuff she's done that have appeared to be dishonest at best. I feel like she is selfish, yes. It has nothing to do with her sex. I could easily accept a female president. I just think there's enough smoke to suggest Hillary is elitist, mean and not somebody I trust. I don't trust her. I do love Bill, however.
  18. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 07:40 AM) Danks isn't great but he got hosed in that first start. Ump blew an obvious called strike 3 for the 2nd out, turned it into a walk. With 2 outs, Avila would've gone straight to 1st, unrushed, for the 3rd out. That's 3 runs that shouldn't have happened. That's what happens when teams get extra outs. Danks is fine. Look at back of rotation starters around the league. Everyone sucks. You're only overly emotionally invested in the sucking on your own team. That is a good point. There are some really bad pitchers in baseball. Enter a fantasy league or two for fun and you will see some horrible pitching lines.
  19. Great win. So far our starting pitching except for Danks has been great. And at least in 7 games it seems like we simply have better baseball players this year. Looks like Robin can manage a lot better when his players actually perform. Even guys with lousy batting averages have done some good things. I could deal with the Sox winning five of every seven; that would be awesome and result in a Sox-Cubs WS.GO SOX!
  20. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 10, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) It's probably not intentional sexism, but the entire persona that is Hillary Clinton has been born out of institutional sexism and misogyny in the media. Everything she does is scrutinized to an absurd extent. Could she have crazy wild hair, wag her fingers around, and bellow the way Bernie does without getting crucified? No, I'm not saying greg is sexist. I'm saying he's buying into the media-created persona that is built out of sexism. And those who are more inclined to believe that stuff, are probably more inclined to also hold (perhaps unintentionally or unmaliciously) sexist beliefs themselves. ETA: I'm pretty sure I recall greg commenting on her voice/"cackle"/etc in the past. I can't speak for others, but I despise her not because I'm sexist or it's a sexist thing. I feel there's been so much smoke around her in her adult life regarding breaking the law. I feel like she's elitist (paid all that money for her speeches), she's bizarre (saying she was poor that one time) and again, the smoke suggests she is one, ill-mannered, "mean" person if you will. I don't see any articles disputing the secret service agents who said she is rude, etc. If she was Mother Theresa I think we'd hear about it. Yes I despise her screaming at me on TV through the screen but I could give a flip if she is man, woman or alien. I can accept a woman president; I just despise Hillary. I've said I love Bill Clinton; I just think Hillary is evil if that is the right word. And I love the fact SNL gets it and has her parodied perfectly. She's entitled to be president by gosh. And for the life of me I don't understand why we're gonna vote her in. Today's Q: Can I get my hopes up at all now that Cruz has emerged? Can he beat her? I realize Trump had no chance cause of the woman and African American vote, what bout Cruz? Any hope?
  21. SNL gets it about Hllary. There's so much truth and bite to Kate McKinnon's portrayal. Hillary the elitist/entitled lady. But for some reason we want her as president.
  22. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 10, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) One thing I have noticed the past decade or two is workers now basically want all other workers to earn less and receive lower benefits. Whenever a group goes on strike or there are other compensation issue it seems the popular opinion is suck it up, others have it worst. That seems dangerous to me and furthers to dissolution of the middle class. From auto workers to teachers we don't seem to mind seeing other people's real wages fall. I understand more the public sector jobs because those relate to our taxes. It seems that we are cheering more profits for owners and less money for our neighbors. I'm concerned about what that does to our economy. We already demand that the wealthiest Americans pay less in taxes so they can create more jobs, now we want them to pay those people less. That shifts both the tax burden and every other economic stress to the working class. We just went through a period of record profits for many sectors in the economy just wages remained stagnant and unemployment did not drop as fast. Are we really better off as a nation if wealth is concentrated and held at the top and not "trickling down"? I see this in Mexico all the time. People are either extremely wealthy or barely hanging on. The middle class there is razor thin. Excellent post. You are right. We're in trouble as a nation. The thing that really confuses me is tying sports into all this. Tons of companies have downsized and gotten rid of so many workers who used to make a good wage ... once these people leave the work force they find it difficult to get back in at a liveable wage especially if they are over 35 or 40 ... so many people have not had a raise in years, told they are "lucky to have a job," and so many people have worse benefits and have to pay way more for health care, etc. Yet with this decrease in money out there ... sports teams have no problem filling their stadiums, people have no problem paying 30 bucks for parking for a baseball game and spending 50 bucks for four beers and 50 more for hot dogs and snacks at games. Where are they getting this money? Is everybody maxing out 10 credit cards???
  23. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Apr 10, 2016 -> 04:58 AM) What's surprising about this state is how well Hillary did in Wyoming, a state that she ceded to Bernie and didn't really spend any money in. She still got 45% and 7 of the 14 delegates. Your post reads like the media's coverage of Wyoming and the roll Bernie's been on. It's like "Bernie wins again" should be the headline and instead it's "Hillary continues to storm toward nomination" Saturday Night Live is the only organization that gets "it." They have the whole situation down pat.
  24. I wanna play the cubs in the World Series. Bring 'em on. If Sox pitching can catch fire and keep burning all season ... we have a chance.
  25. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 10, 2016 -> 04:21 AM) I take that as a good sign for Hillary going forward - not that she needs it since she's got NY/PA/MD/NJ locked up. Yes, unless Bill keeps appearing publicly and fighting with the protestors. As long as he goes away for a while, she's definitely got it made. I love Bill's spirit, but he's not helping his spouse any. She's a runaway winner in states with a good number of African-American voters.
