  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) That guy he struck out was pissed. True, but that guy also was smiling during the at bat a lot. He looked flustered that the fastball got him for strike three.
  2. No brainer to add him now and dump Beckham.
  3. Somebody needs to do a pattern on the season. The Sox appear to be awfully streaky to me. Losing 3 in a row and falling four under .500 again would pretty much signal white flag time considering Toronto, the O's, the Rangers and even the Twins (playing Cleveland 13 more times) would appear to be way better teams than Chicago. The "why not us?" mentality that one of the beat writers suggested was the team motto the second half will be silly if the team loses today and makes it 3 in a row after the 7 game win streak. Like you said it really is a must win. Time to give up again if they lose tonight.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) What do you base that on? Articles like this one http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix...the-2016-field/
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 11:06 PM) Nowhere is the value of a 1st round pick less, then in baseball. The value of winning, because, dare I say it, your players are doing good, is so much better then the difference in the #5 pick of the #12 pick. The one exception is if you are winning because of 3 or 4 guys, all of which are going to be gone with no compensation at the end of the season. I agree. The Sox are just going to draft a college pitcher who will turn into a reliever probably. This Sox team keeps creeping to .500 then goes in the tank. That's just wrong. This team is so close to contention it's disappointing to me every time they lose.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 05:10 AM) You do realize that's not exactly a good ratio for a pitcher? Thing is, he's still making a comeback from injury. You guys disagree, but the eye test tells me his stuff is improving. Now, the consistency is still off. Maybe he should have pitched in the minors all year. I agree five out of 10 is not great, but it's OK for a No. 5. The Danks hatred bothers me. Because 1.) he isn't to blame for his contract. Somebody offered it to him. 2.) The GM could demand he pitch a year in the minors to get his effectiveness all the way back following serious surgery. He's a No. 5 starter and doing OK in that role. Rodon has been equally inconsistent and he's No. 4. I think the reasons people hate on Danks are wrong.
  7. Six runs and Sox lose. That's never a good sign.
  8. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 05:08 AM) No he's bad. Those things called stats show that plus the eye test. He's batting practice. I'm sure we'll get a nice display tomorrow. Then how do u explain 5 good outings in 10 tries? That's actually better than Rodon.
  9. LaRoche is hot with four hits. Too bad Rodon was trash. Our pitching let us down tonight and now a losing streak has begun. Can they halt the streak this weekend before it gets ridiculous again?
  10. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 05:02 AM) Avi is so lost. It's sad to see how much he's fallen. Is it our coaching? Something causes top prospects to suck.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 04:56 AM) Yeah, this was good but I definitely wouldn't call it the #1 highlight of the season. His highlight for sure. I forgot his dad was LaLob. LaRoche threw two LaLobs up there. Hope the beat writers remember that. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 05:00 AM) Maybe Adam can pitch for Danks instead. Maybe we can have Danks DH Danks isn't that bad. You know u are jinxing him tomorrow cause I love him. He's had 5 good outings in his last 10. Not bad.
  12. He was great. Funny and sad that the No. 1 highlight of his season so far is that. That last pitch was amazing.
  13. Damn I have mixed emotions. Sox are laughingstocks of the league tonight in letting LaRoche pitch. But it is funny.
  14. Saladino could probly use a day off now and then by the way.
  15. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:58 AM) Cleveland and Boston are bad teams. New York, Kansas City ans St Louis are good. You're looking at the reality here of this ballclub. They're just......bad, and forgettable like past seasons. Please stop acting as if everyone was fooled, when many here were not Tizzle, were u really convinced the Sox really sucked when they got to one under .500 the other day?? With our starting pitching and closer? With the improved defense and Melky carrying the team? How could u be convinced the team wasn't starting to gel?? This team needs to suck it up and win the next 2 games of this HOME series. Not that difficult to avoid 4-to-8 game losing streaks!!!!
  16. I refuse to take this laying down. Sox HAVE to win tomorrow and avoid the dreaded 3-game losing streak. This is not how sports work. Teams don't go on streak after streak in opposite directions. Wake up, White Sox! With my boy, Danks, going, it could easily be a replay of tonight. Why are the Sox suddenly s*** in the Cell (last homestand and this one)?
  17. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:39 AM) You're not confused, you're awake now. The only confusion about this team was the last week, and it was foolish to believe a half season of futility should be overlooked for a 7-1 run. They looked GREAT. Teams have gone on amazing runs before during the second half. Seemed like this team finally was gelling. How could we not be fooled? Yes, it sure looks like Baltimore and Toronto are gonna roll the second half.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:33 AM) Blue Jays win. Mob scene in Toronto. Questionable balk call moved over Tulo to 2nd, Donaldson drove him in. Fwiw, they still didn't have 30,000 on a Friday night after adding Price/Tulo in the span of less than one week against the best team in the AL, arguably. Does anybody up there care bout baseball much? It's all hockey, baby.
  19. QUOTE (RaySox @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:29 AM) It is quite difficult to not get overly excited in that situation. We thought they finally figured it out Plus we were MURDERING teams. I swear I'm going to freak if they drop 6-8 in a row again. Is it so hard to not be streaky? With this pitching staff, one of the 5 is supposed to put an end to losing streaks before they begin. OK one of the four.
  20. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 03:12 AM) Well, I hope all of you riding the last week's win streak have sobered up. Thankfully we have Shark to finish out the remainder of the season. I'm sure he'll win us just enough games to lose a few draft positions How the heck else should we have acted last week? When the Sox are winning they look like pennant winners. Then they lose a game and can't ever stop it at one. Now we've dropped two in a row and nobody would be surprised to see it four after this weekend. Weird ass team that nobody can ever figure out.
  21. Oh well. I'm too confused by this team to be real negative any more. Now we're three below .500 again. Rodon gets rocked by a good team. Danks could have the same fate tomorrow and we be four under. Whatever will be will be. ...
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) This angers me. It just isnt logical. How does he think we will continue to win 7 out of 8 games the rest of the way through? Cause this team did it again. It crept back close to .500 (I realize it actually hit .500 once). It can't drop the next four and fall six back again, can it??
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) why is ted cruz a lock to get the nomination? He's the only electable republican.
  24. Cruz was on the radio late last night and said he's looking forward to debating Hillary. He said his parents filed for bankruptcy when he was in high school and he just paid off his student loans six years ago. Meanwhile the Clintons are rolling in dough. He also really attacked Hillary and Bill's ethics. Should be interesting if he's that vicious during the real debates. He's obviously a lock to get the nomination.
  25. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) I was hoping they'd get a good outfielder to replace Garcia, someone like Reddick, Parra, Gomez or Puig. After doing that, was hoping they might replace Flowers with AJ. Now watch them lose the series to the Yankees. No biggie. If Sox were going to sell they should have done it after that four game losing streak rite before this winning streak. If the Yankees win all 3 and Sox fall five back again, that would be par for the course. But maybe the team will surprise us and keep building on the 7-1 road trip. We shall see.
