  1. This one will be the ugliest of the 3. Saturday night. Shark a good but not great pitcher. Royals fans wanting blood on Shark with a full house again. If I were Shark I'd hit Cain. All hell would break loose and it might wake up our boys. Shark's the kind of guy who might do it. He plays for such a noncompetitive team it'd put him in the headlines and really would shake up the s***ty frontrunning KC fans. Gonna be hot with game starting at 6 and stadium baking in 90s. KC 10, Chicago 4.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) I actually envy 2k5. I wish I could just love the White Sox because they're my team and they're the White Sox. The '06 collapse just bothers the f*** out of me. If they could've just gotten in they would've rolled though everybody. And since then? Good god. This is about the only year I'm totally fed up with the organization, though it is very depressing they didn't build on '05. I almost have to agree with those who said it was a wonderful fluke. I mean the Blackhawks have shown how you should play during your "window" of excellence. Sox haven't done squat since winning it all and this year with the unexplainable roller coaster has been the worst type of year for a fan. It's been hard to enjoy baseball this year because of this. The Central Division has owned us again except for the, again wacky, 4-game sweep of Cleveland. This organization blows and it just has to get rid of Robin after the season because there's really no hope with him at the helm -- too dysfunctional a team with lousy fundamental skills. It's a no brainer. He doesn't need the money. Many managers have been fired and many more will in the future.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 08:18 AM) And almost none of the questions were answered... Take away Trump and Christie, what was actually that interesting? Just wait and see the tv ratings when Trump is no longer on the panel, they'll regress to mean. Rubio did well with his questions, Kasich as well...and Bush stumbled a bit about the Bloomberg charity involvement. The same exact panel, minus Trump, had a forum on Monday night and nobody was paying attention. Everyone simply wanted to see whether Trump would attempt to be serious or not, and who he would offend or piss off...not unlike watching Simon Cowell eviscerate a poor singer on American Idol. The interest in the first Perot/Clinton/Bush debate was much higher, because for the first time in modern history a third party candidate had a real opening to actually win. Good comparison to Idol. Yes the ratings were ALL about Trump. His comments today about Ms. Kelly would have ended anybody else's campaign. We'll see if it ends Trump's. He said "blood was coming out of her eyes or blood was coming out of wherever." One organization dis-invited him from a Saturday function. Trump's camp has attacked the organizaion leader in saying he's weak and being politically correct is what is wrong with the USA. This was pretty graphic amazing comment though, about a woman's period and hormones affecting her behavior as debate host. I doubt it affects anything but like I said, anybody else in America would be buried by that comment. They'd meekly apologize then slink away forever. Kudos to Trump for always surviving his mouth!
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 11:29 PM) I'm not convinced her doesn't root for the Royals. Yeah I root for the Royals. That's why I turned down free tickets for great seats Saturday and Sunday. I just don't need to see the Sox lose in front of full houses both nights. Normally it's enough to get to see the Sox play. Not this year. I KNOW they're losing all 3 and I don't wanna be there in the 100 degree heat Sunday or with the KC partiers on Saturday.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:24 AM) James Holmes receives life in prison with no possibility of parole on a divided, non-unanimous verdict. You know what? I do want him removed from the planet ASAP, but in another way I don't mind. First of all the death penalty is against my religion and I'm supposed to follow my religion. But in another way, he'll be in one of those sitautions he gets one hour of sunlight a day. He won't be allowed to be in the general population so basically the next 50 years of his life or 60 years will consist of no contact with humans, except guards. I mean he probably won't even have TV will he? 23 of 24 hours every single day for 50 years in a tiny cell? I can see how that would be worse than death penalty in a way. He deserves to rot. I hope he gets the solitary treatment. Anybody know if that is for certain the case?
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) Rand Paul further proofed how stupid politics are with that comment on the hug from Obama being just absurd. Look, you can disagree on the politics but lets not pretend or assume all of these people have to hate each other or be enemies. Yes sir! Excellent post! But it is reality both sides hate each other and like I said earlier, having Hilly as president will only assure us of 8 years of hell. The Congress will fight EVERY ONE of her projects/bills. Every one. I mean it's stupid and silly like you said, but one thing is for sure. Hilly won't be able to change it. I truly believe the eight years of Hilly will ruin America. I think it's over if she wins. By the end of the eight year, there will be no revival. Coupled with eight years of Barack that's 16 years of economic misery. it's over.
  7. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 04:03 AM) Last four hitters in the starting line up tonight all hitting under .250. Basically that's almost half of your starting lineup in "automatic out" status. Simply can't win that way very often anyway. As Kenny would say, "it is what it is..." LOL. Mark As much as I love Flowers he's in another of his funks and when I saw that lineup and compared it to KC's I laughed, actually laughed. Like you said, the last four ... wow.
  8. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:46 AM) If Sox need a low priced manager next year, try Skinner from Charlotte. He's paid his dues. Is he highly thought of in baseball? I'd prefer somebody who has managed another team. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:15 AM) The thing with Robin is that he's done absolutely nothing in his time as Sox manager to deserve another year after this. The ideal scenario would be a Dombrowski/Bud Black combo to take over for Hahn/Ventura, but we could never get so lucky. I agree. That combo would be fine with me. Ten years of Dombrowski would be a good way for him to end his career. I'd take it. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:49 AM) Folks: Remember...Robin has another year on his contract. JR does not like to pay people not to manage...and he personally like Ventura a lot. Just sayin' Mark Excellent take. But there's always the do nothing front office job. Make him a community spokesperson or something. Robin is no dummy. He has to know his performance has been really poor. This team has had some "name" baseball players who have sucked sucked sucked in his tenure and the last couple years of Ozzeroo. His teams have done nothing. We're not even sniffing the playoffs. I officially want Robin out BTW. Nothing will make me change my mind. I'm totally sick of the White Sox 2015 season. This win four in a row lose seven of eight crap is ridiculous and a lot of it is on the manager. I've heard of roller coaster but this is ridiculous. Every little win streak ends and is followed by horrific losing streaks. Everybody knows it's going to culminate with some massive losing skein at some point in September that sends this team finally about 20 under. Please get us a real manager for next season. To those Robin supporters answer this honestly: Do you want this guy taking us onto the field next April?? The chance of this bulls*** happening all over again is REAL!
  9. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:56 AM) Offense has scored three runs or less in four of their last eight games. Tonight marked the 15th time the Sox held an opponent to three runs or less...and lost. Mark Team is in the tank ... again. I think they've lose 7 of last 8 in Kauffman and two more are a comin. I'm sure that thread about draft picks will be active again as the Sox record creeps the other way again.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:51 AM) duh You say 'duh' but our great front office couldn't project we had a horses*** team a week before the deadline? I mean, yes, I fell for it during the 7-1 road trip. But they are highly paid professional baseball people. They couldn't tell it was smoke and mirrors and time to trade everybody??? At least Shark and Lexi and LaRoche and Melky and Avi?" QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) Well, Jones looked fantastic. If he's healthy, an 8th-9th inning of him and Robertson is nasty. Yes, but the question is when will it show up in the standings? Next year? Five years from now? We never contend anymore despite some talent. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:06 AM) KC fans I've seen on twitter this year hate that their 3rd best reliever is their closer. Yes but to be fair, their fans are the worst I've ever seen. They are miserable morons. Seriously you have to see them to believe them. Actually Holland is still worthy of being closer. He's only blown 3 saves. Put anybody in the closer role and it's different. Davis might do OK. They need to ride Holland until his time is over. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:15 AM) Game was lost in the 8th. Saladino missed 2 hangers one he didn't swimg at, Abreu didn't swing at one and struck out on a pitch a foot outside. Exactly. Thing is, you just knew they weren't going to score. Hochevar did exactly what he needed to do. Whiff an overmatched rookie? Done. Make sure Abreu went fishing on strike three? Done. Then use your scouting report and retire Melky on a drive toward the right field line perfectly positioned. Easy out and completle failure. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:19 AM) Saladino was a mediocre hitter for most of his minor league career. I truly hope they don't think he's the long-term answer at 3B. Great great post, fathom! He's not more than a utility guy.
  11. Second and third nobody out and that happens? LOL. Saladino - overmatched, whiff. Abreu - clueless on the strikeout pitch way outside of the zone; waved at it like a complete stiff. Melky - nice little drive to right; Royals have Sox scouted perfectly; Rios makes it look harder than it was. LOL. Failure. Bad teams don't score in that situation; we have a bad team!
  12. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 10:51 PM) As long as KW is here, Robin Ventura will be the manager. C'mon guys he has made progress since 2012! 2012- 85-77 (September collapse) 2013- 63-99 (Hmm quite a bit of a drop off!) 2014- 73-89 After adding Abreu, Eaton and Garcia 2015- 78-84 (Projected final record according to win percentage) In a year where you add 5 key free agents which sacrificed draft picks and add a #2 starting pitcher, you only will likely improve by 5 games? Something is wrong here. Only in the White Sox organization you can have three straight losing seasons and keep your managerial job. Only in the White Sox organization you can have three straight losing seasons and keep your President of White Sox operations job and GM job etc. How will they spin it? I can see the quotes now. "If you look over the past three seasons, we have improved gradually and the arrow is pointing up. There is no point to panic and point fingers. Our job is to put the best product on the field and to obtain talent so we can have a period of sustained success. " Yadayadayada... same old bullcrap! You have all FAILED! Do you your job and get a real manager. As of right now I have zero faith that they will fire Robin. I have zero faith that KW or Hahn will go anywhere. I have zero faith they will make the best decisions for this club long term under JR. I really hope they prove me wrong.... I just can't see that happening. I think Robin is a laughingstock in baseball. Everybody knows he has no business managing. Case in point: Hawk never goes out of his way to support Robin, never. He doesn't ever hint he should be fired, but often says the Sox "have the talent." I can't prove it, but Hawk knows Robin is substandard. He gawn after this season.
  13. Three runs, six innings against the best team in baseball ... not a bad start by Danks in spite of Robin. Let's see how Shark does in this woebegone series.
  14. Did you really think we were gonna win a game this series? Danks did fine.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) He still massively sucks and his contract extensions is one of the worst deals in Sox history. LOL. You guys slay me. John Danks can pitch.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:56 AM) What freaking game is Robin and Cooper watching? Ridiculously long leash here to just about seal this game. Robin's not a big league manager candidate. He got lucky in getting that job. He's overmatched. No doubt about that.
  17. Most managers are ready when a pitcher goes thru the lineup a third time. Robin likes to concede games. This will prolly be 8-1 before it's over knowing Robbie.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 01:57 AM) Considering how much you hate LaRoche and how much you hate KC, post #40 in this thread should make you sick. I saw that. Good find. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:03 AM) I swear sometimes I wish hitters had an earphone in their helmet. Don't these hitters know that once Volquez is ahead in the count he's going to just throw junk off the plate? (Abreu/Garcia) . I realize it's more difficult to hit with 2 strikes but damn they swung at crap. KC pitchers know how to get our guys out. No question. Yost would kill them if they don't follow the easy plan to dominate Chicago hitters. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:18 AM) Looks more to me like he hurt it on the fall. Either way, he's very likely done for the year. He had been way more durable this year than he was last year too. You are right; he's been doing pretty well.
  19. I don't care how this game turns out, etc., but it is obvious Danks is a f***ing good pitcher. I don't care what anybody tells me contrary to that. Anybody who can't admit this ... I don't know what else to say.
  20. LaRoche is so selfish. Just f***ing get the run in instead of having this fricking wide open stance that accomplishes nothing. Lexi just was overmatched in his at bat and not talented enough. But LaRoche pisses me off. Get the run home.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) I wouldn't blame her if she did either. This is a debate to see not only who your favorite republican candidate is, but also, what candidate is the best fit to run for president. What women in their right mind would want to vote for someone like Trump. Their is being PC and their is being disrespectful. I don't get offending much but with as much as that guy has said, when it comes to main campaign season and you are running against Hillary, how are you going to get any meaningful female vote if you are Trump? Sure, their are people who would vote for Trump no matter what (cause they hate Clinton) but you would have a lot of republican female voters vote independent, not vote, or even vote for the democrat. That doesn't even factor in the other issues. Only reason Trump is where he is today is he's hit a chord with the American people regarding the overall frustration (and given his wealth and semi fame) people have regarding politics. I also think their are a lot of people voting in those polls (at least more then usual) who are listing his name because they want him to stay in the race for sheer entertainment value (maybe not a higher percentage but some sort of percentage). But as a republican voter, I want to see how these candidates are going to react to tough questions and I like the fact that they had to address skeleton's in the closet, etc. Fiorina is going to be an interesting cat as I am sure she is going to take more heat now regarding her tenure at HP and it will be interesting how she handles that to the press. She absolutely nailed it though yesterday. Yes, excellent post. Trump is doomed cause no woman in her right mind would vote for him now.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) Unfair how. Those are real quotes that Donald has said and if you don't think that Hillary would use it against him, you are delusional. I loved how the commentators here got to the heart of some of the major concerns / appeal factors that exist with some of the candidates. Whether Trump and some of his comments or Bush (and his well last name) or Carson and his issues with foreign policy, etc. They asked real questions and contrary to what Caufield's nonsensical argument this was like no primary debate in the history of this country. And the questions that were asked were like none that I've seen in my lifetime of following this stuff. I thought she said it with venom but maybe I'm sensitive.
  23. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) People like a circus show. I actually would like to applaud Fox News, btw, and others should too. That was not a bunch of soft ball questions. They were hard on the candidates they were talking to. Trump especially.. Chris Wallace is a cartoon character. Meghan was unfair to Trump.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) He stood out to me in the main show, just as Trump stood out for being a complete idiot. The one thing I will give Trump credit for is his involvement in this and early popularity shows you just how fed up America is with the same ole same old. They want real changes and they are just sick and tired with the entire environment. Excellent point, except ... Americans allegedly are fed up with the same ol same ol and politics in general and that's why Trump has struck a chord. ... However, in the same inexplicable, totally American light, Hillary is a lock to win the election. And she is a perfect example of what so many Americans hate about "the entire political environment." So we hate it ... but we elect Hilly in a landslide. A totally American non-sequitir. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) 24 million people watched this debate (I was not one of them). This is more people then has ever watched a primary debate before. What should we take from that? TRUMP. Expecting a freak show from TRUMP. ...
  25. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) I provided a link a couple of weeks ago with hundreds if not thousands of examples involving people with guns who were able to prevent death or more deaths because of their actions. You, on the other hand, keep with the myth making that people with guns who think they can be heroes always, without a doubt, without exception, make situations worse. That's just factually inaccurate. When you can start citing some examples of "heroes" accidentally shooting and killing people in their attempts to stop the bad guy, then your point is well taken. Until then, your opinion on this is completely unfounded. Citing to friendly fire incidents with the military in battle is pretty poor. Again, cite some examples when you have soldiers in close quarters with a single gunmen, and the ensuing fire fight involves friendly fire. I bet that's an EXTREMELY rare occurrence. Friendly fire incidents are almost always communication f***-ups, not "oh my god I have a gun and it has a mind of its own and its going to shoot every person in the room because they're so dangerous!" I have to cite Jenks as being the winner of this argument. I appreciate the long responses from the others, but Jenks I feel has the right position on this.
