  1. I didn't want to start a negative thread so I'll bring it up here about Robin/Melky/LaRoche. Should Robin or Jerry talk to Melky about not being a clown and LaRoche about shaving? LaRoche looks like an idiot with that shaggy beard IMO. He did hit a bomb on Friday but aside from that has been an utter failure as a Sox. Melky gets on base and bear-hugs the first baseman; then he goes to second and bear-hugs the second baseman. He starts yapping into the Sox dugout and does it a long time. Just for getting a hit. I mean if LaRoche has to have the beard, fine. But Melky is disrespecting the game. He's saying "look at me" all the time. I mean, Melky, the reason they are paying you zillions of dollars is they thought you'd help win games and get the team in the playoffs. The clown behavior has to stop at some point. It reflects poorly on Robin. We need a tighter ship, folks and that means Gardenhire!
  2. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 05:29 AM) There are some smaller bright spots for me at least. Carlos looks like he's going to lock down 2B for the future. May not be an all-star but is awesome defensively. The pen is improved. I still have high hopes for this staff (Sale, Q, Rodon). Quintana is going nowhere now for me at least. He must stay. Only type of player I'd move him for is Puig. Anderson is doing well in the minors and should be ready in the next year or two. Alexis can hold down SS until he's ready (though he can have some crazy bad moments then flip that stud fielding switch). Saladino can play 3B soundly. I'd roll with hi. Next season unless we can upgrade it (Davidson is a flop). My hope for the top of the order is Eaton, Sanchez, Melky, Abreu, Puig, Garcia. Then figure out 7-9. I'm hoping we move Garcia to 1B and Adam is gone. Jose is special, but some of the other guys you mention are OK but can't hit. Saladino won't hit for much in the bigs and Sanchez isn't a big league hitter. It'd be nice to get rid of Lexi and use his salary on other needs. Rodon is good but has a long long way to go to be consistent IMO. We need to bring up Johnson and see what he's got. Might as well rest Sale the rest of the season and put Johnson in there IMO. Or give Sale one start every 2 weeks and pitch Johnson a lot more. I truly think Saladino and Sanchez are not the answer. Good gloves, though.
  3. The family members of the victims were crying after the verdict, I just read. So now I wish he did get the death penalty. They want the guy dead and their wishes should be granted.
  4. He's really good. Second year in a row he's basically the only bright spot along with Sale.
  5. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 04:19 AM) Sox couldn't beat the Royals with regularity when they were good and Kansas City was trash. No reason to think they can beat them now that K.C. is good. Mark Yeah, you could pencil in a sweep this weekend. Royals will be bored and hot Sunday but should have enough to complete the sweep. Duffy and Q have both been pitching well. Sox gave Saturday's game away when Soto got picked off. They'll probably play just dumb enough to lose again Sunday.
  6. QUOTE (L. Ron Paultard @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 01:17 AM) So a Don Cooper starter who is cruising..... is suddenly having all sorts of problems pitching out of the stretch??? Under pennant race pressure late in the season? Shocking, LOL. Who knew that a whiny fat-man with a fragile ego like whom who snaps at any semi-difficult questions... would somehow infect his pitching staff. Then again, Coop is untouchable. Did 2005 really happen? I kind of like your posts. Who are u? QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 01:20 AM) This team has done exactly what I thought it would do once trade deadline was over. Can't put lipstick on a pig. I'll give Soxfest and others credit for knowing this. I had no clue. I thought our White Sox were gonna contend for WC the final seven weeks. I saw no way the s***tiness would return. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 01:26 AM) Fire this manager immediately after season ends. Entire team plays like idiots The Royals announcers, who suck, were ripping the Sox mercilessly. They said they always seem to do something baseball stupid. They really got on Melky for acting like a clown on the basepaths. They said they don't remember him being like that when he played in KC. They said they liked him but he's an embarrassment to the game and city of Chicago acting like such a clown during games. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 01:40 AM) White Sox continue to beat themselves. Not sure why Melky Cabrera is clowning around so much on the basepaths and talking to the Sox dugout...almost got thrown out running past second. Just not the necessary level of focus and concentration. Soto has no business getting thrown out since he's not going anywhere with Abreu at the plate. Royals lead all of baseball in tallying runs in the next half-inning after their opponents have scored. Sloppy. Were u listening to the Royals' broadcast? Similar thoughts to their announcers. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 01:46 AM) Jeff will probably attribute this year to trying to "pitch through something since we were in the hunt but it was really bothering him" and some one will buy the hype for 5/90 or something Excellent post. I do agree this will happen! GMs are THAT dumb. Shark will get 20 million plus. LOL. QUOTE (L. Ron Paultard @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 02:10 AM) Fathom, White Sox have possibly pro sports' worst fans, plus a few other impediments so they can never afford to truly REBUILD properly since another win-less decade might completely decimate the fanbase. Our fans do suck. But the ones on this board are loyal. I wish Trump would buy the team and frankly I want a new stadium, one so amazing people HAVE to go there. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 02:21 AM) Can't field or stay healthy. Actually wouldn't mind giving him a chance at DH Semien is hitting now; he'd have been better long term than Micah possibly. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 9, 2015 -> 02:53 AM) What is with that awful swing Saladino takes on high pitches? Great post! I've noticed that as well. It's sickening.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) why do you always want our team to hit opposing players? Only when I feel it'll help the Sox win. Packed stadium, hot night, struggling KC team wanting to feast on Chicago to get well, inconsistent pitcher who could be taken deep by Hosmer and Morales ... I wanna win
  8. Why did Q own me? I said Paulie got hit in the face. It's diffrent. We do need to hit a Royal. It knocks 'em off their game.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) [quote name='Quinarvy' date='Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:06 PM' post='321840ally, you're advocating this s*** again? The best part is him calling Samardzija "good not great" but then blows Danks every start. Shark is good, not great. Anybody dispute that? I stand up for Danks because I can't believe the negativity on this site regarding a starter who also has been GOOD this season. I don't know what people expect out of Danks. I personally think he's giving his all and his all has been good IMO. For some reason they don't like the fact he's being overpaid when 95 percent of baseball players, OK, 80 percent, are probly overpaid.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 08:25 PM) That's a great plan if you want Samardzija suspended for a few weeks and Abreu out for the season after taking a fastball to the face. I didn't advocate hurting Cain, just hitting him. Our team needs to wake up ... again. This would incite their sellout crowd. They won't hit Abreu in the face. They've already started fights with various other teams. My wrath about Paulie was them hitting him in the face. It's OK to plunk a guy on the butt or back him off the plate. Why sit back and not try to fight the sweep?
  11. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) Isn't the GOP nominee obviously Bush though? Seems that way to me. He'll stay more conservative than he actually is to appease the base and win the nomination and then he'll go more to the middle for the general election. Just a matter of time. Yes. It'll be Bush vs. Clinton. Good call. This is a no brainer. This Trump campaign is his way of getting more publicity (duh). He's a businessman through and through and lover of $$$ through and through. He's been trained that way; his mind is conditioned only that way. When it starts hitting his pocketbook TOO hard he gawn. Yes of course he'd run for President if Trump-mania continued and he got the nomination. Overall he's going to ride this as long as he can keep getting pub for himself and then drop out. It's good publicity for him being a bad-ass, speaking his mind, but he knows there will be a time to put it to rest and return to making $$$. Women don't like him much to begin with. They think he's slimy and don't like the hair. And even Trump knows you can't go around insulting women and win their vote. It's a matter of time. I hope he stays in for a while longer, cause he's funny, but it looks like Meghan is the journalist who got him. He could survive this but may not if debate organizers keep him out for the reasons given for keeping him out of this conservative conference today. We do know he'll go down fighting. p.s. The reason I could never actually vote for the entertaining Donald is his position on his ties being made in Japan not the USA. He said it's horrible he makes his ties there but as a businessman he has to do it. He said he'd change the laws and bring those jobs here. Well, that shows what a rich prick he really is. Instead of taking a stand and making the ties in the USA and maybe, uh, encouraging other businessmen to do the same, he says he has to make them in Japan cause he's a businessman. Well, f*** u, Don. Make your ties here and be a good example for all businessmen. By the way, that's another reason our country is ruined. We've let most all our products and clothing, etc, be made overseas. It's proof we are NOT the great nation we think we are. Al l this s*** should be made in the USA baby!!!! I know why it's not, but it's sad and it's ruined our country and our way of life. Sad.
  12. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) In the world I run, I'd make it much more than that, though. I don't like the idea of letting them off easily, but I also don't like the idea of letting them live. I'd have that 10 gauge hooked up to a machine/computer and have both a video/audio countdown letting the prisoner know exactly when it was going to fire, only when it hits 0, nothing would happen. Then the countdown would reset/repeat and the same thing would happen over and over again until randomly generated time expires and it actually fired. I'd make scum like this live their last moments over and over again until it finally happened on a random number other than 0. I lack sympathy for those like this...I don't care about them, I don't care if they suffer, I just don't care. He ruined countless lives, for nothing. That's a pretty good post. A mass murderer in the USA really doesn't have to worry about much. He either gets killed by the cops while committing his crime (which makes him famous thanks to the way we cover these stories in America) or gets life in prison (pretty cushy life unless inmates get to him) or is humanely thrust into the afterlife. Blowing a guy's head off or hanging him would be pretty scary and might deter some of this. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 08:08 AM) Fwiw, that guy in Norway (Anders something) who killed 69 on that summer youth camp island only got a 21 year sentence... Good luck to the people over there if they let him out. I'd make him wear a tracking device at all times so they know where he is and what he's doing.
  13. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 01:28 PM) Greg: I agree Robin should go. In fact, i thought his hire was a mistake. But look at how well the team played just before the All Star break. Why??? Melky, Eaton, Abreu all got hot. Plus the arrival of Sanchez and Saladino settled the defense. then after the break they nose-dived. Why?? Rodon and Sale had back to back poor performances and Shark and Danks were good and bad. Robin needs to go if only for a change in the clubhouse. But manager's success is usually determined by player success. Boston fans are wrestling w John Farrell's fate. First year in Boston he wins a World Series and the next 2 years are a disaster. Did he forget how to manage??? Great post. But the problem is sports aren't really fair. An objective person would say that, on paper, the team has enough pieces to contend for a wildcard. And really it's never been in contention for that. The players have let him down, sure, but that's what usually happens when a manager gets the axe. Robin doesn't need the job. He's rich. He'll be fine. Unfortunately it's time for a change. I mean the last time the team got one under .500 he had a chance to carve out a long niche in Chicago as a manager, again. But immediately the team comes home and blows and now is falling in the opposite direction like an anvil. Bye Robin. Get out now while you still are thought of fondly and let the next guy try to get these overpaid ballplayers to play better baseball.
  14. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) Just my opinion. I think Ramirez is gone after the season and unless Micah can stay healthy and get over his hamstring issues, his futue with the Sox is dubious at best. Can't play Tyler at third base. Third base is a power / RBI position. You've got to have a masher at that position who plays decent defense. Now who that can be for the Sox I have no idea. I can see Tyler as the all around utility guy next year since Gordon and Bonafacio will be gone. Sanchez is settling in nicely at second leave him there. Mark Good post. Lexi is gone. The know at the very least, they've got Saladino who can play short and hit about .230 over the course of a long season if Anderson isn't ready.
  15. This one will be the ugliest of the 3. Saturday night. Shark a good but not great pitcher. Royals fans wanting blood on Shark with a full house again. If I were Shark I'd hit Cain. All hell would break loose and it might wake up our boys. Shark's the kind of guy who might do it. He plays for such a noncompetitive team it'd put him in the headlines and really would shake up the s***ty frontrunning KC fans. Gonna be hot with game starting at 6 and stadium baking in 90s. KC 10, Chicago 4.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) I actually envy 2k5. I wish I could just love the White Sox because they're my team and they're the White Sox. The '06 collapse just bothers the f*** out of me. If they could've just gotten in they would've rolled though everybody. And since then? Good god. This is about the only year I'm totally fed up with the organization, though it is very depressing they didn't build on '05. I almost have to agree with those who said it was a wonderful fluke. I mean the Blackhawks have shown how you should play during your "window" of excellence. Sox haven't done squat since winning it all and this year with the unexplainable roller coaster has been the worst type of year for a fan. It's been hard to enjoy baseball this year because of this. The Central Division has owned us again except for the, again wacky, 4-game sweep of Cleveland. This organization blows and it just has to get rid of Robin after the season because there's really no hope with him at the helm -- too dysfunctional a team with lousy fundamental skills. It's a no brainer. He doesn't need the money. Many managers have been fired and many more will in the future.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 08:18 AM) And almost none of the questions were answered... Take away Trump and Christie, what was actually that interesting? Just wait and see the tv ratings when Trump is no longer on the panel, they'll regress to mean. Rubio did well with his questions, Kasich as well...and Bush stumbled a bit about the Bloomberg charity involvement. The same exact panel, minus Trump, had a forum on Monday night and nobody was paying attention. Everyone simply wanted to see whether Trump would attempt to be serious or not, and who he would offend or piss off...not unlike watching Simon Cowell eviscerate a poor singer on American Idol. The interest in the first Perot/Clinton/Bush debate was much higher, because for the first time in modern history a third party candidate had a real opening to actually win. Good comparison to Idol. Yes the ratings were ALL about Trump. His comments today about Ms. Kelly would have ended anybody else's campaign. We'll see if it ends Trump's. He said "blood was coming out of her eyes or blood was coming out of wherever." One organization dis-invited him from a Saturday function. Trump's camp has attacked the organizaion leader in saying he's weak and being politically correct is what is wrong with the USA. This was pretty graphic amazing comment though, about a woman's period and hormones affecting her behavior as debate host. I doubt it affects anything but like I said, anybody else in America would be buried by that comment. They'd meekly apologize then slink away forever. Kudos to Trump for always surviving his mouth!
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 11:29 PM) I'm not convinced her doesn't root for the Royals. Yeah I root for the Royals. That's why I turned down free tickets for great seats Saturday and Sunday. I just don't need to see the Sox lose in front of full houses both nights. Normally it's enough to get to see the Sox play. Not this year. I KNOW they're losing all 3 and I don't wanna be there in the 100 degree heat Sunday or with the KC partiers on Saturday.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:24 AM) James Holmes receives life in prison with no possibility of parole on a divided, non-unanimous verdict. You know what? I do want him removed from the planet ASAP, but in another way I don't mind. First of all the death penalty is against my religion and I'm supposed to follow my religion. But in another way, he'll be in one of those sitautions he gets one hour of sunlight a day. He won't be allowed to be in the general population so basically the next 50 years of his life or 60 years will consist of no contact with humans, except guards. I mean he probably won't even have TV will he? 23 of 24 hours every single day for 50 years in a tiny cell? I can see how that would be worse than death penalty in a way. He deserves to rot. I hope he gets the solitary treatment. Anybody know if that is for certain the case?
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) Rand Paul further proofed how stupid politics are with that comment on the hug from Obama being just absurd. Look, you can disagree on the politics but lets not pretend or assume all of these people have to hate each other or be enemies. Yes sir! Excellent post! But it is reality both sides hate each other and like I said earlier, having Hilly as president will only assure us of 8 years of hell. The Congress will fight EVERY ONE of her projects/bills. Every one. I mean it's stupid and silly like you said, but one thing is for sure. Hilly won't be able to change it. I truly believe the eight years of Hilly will ruin America. I think it's over if she wins. By the end of the eight year, there will be no revival. Coupled with eight years of Barack that's 16 years of economic misery. it's over.
  21. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 04:03 AM) Last four hitters in the starting line up tonight all hitting under .250. Basically that's almost half of your starting lineup in "automatic out" status. Simply can't win that way very often anyway. As Kenny would say, "it is what it is..." LOL. Mark As much as I love Flowers he's in another of his funks and when I saw that lineup and compared it to KC's I laughed, actually laughed. Like you said, the last four ... wow.
  22. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:46 AM) If Sox need a low priced manager next year, try Skinner from Charlotte. He's paid his dues. Is he highly thought of in baseball? I'd prefer somebody who has managed another team. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:15 AM) The thing with Robin is that he's done absolutely nothing in his time as Sox manager to deserve another year after this. The ideal scenario would be a Dombrowski/Bud Black combo to take over for Hahn/Ventura, but we could never get so lucky. I agree. That combo would be fine with me. Ten years of Dombrowski would be a good way for him to end his career. I'd take it. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:49 AM) Folks: Remember...Robin has another year on his contract. JR does not like to pay people not to manage...and he personally like Ventura a lot. Just sayin' Mark Excellent take. But there's always the do nothing front office job. Make him a community spokesperson or something. Robin is no dummy. He has to know his performance has been really poor. This team has had some "name" baseball players who have sucked sucked sucked in his tenure and the last couple years of Ozzeroo. His teams have done nothing. We're not even sniffing the playoffs. I officially want Robin out BTW. Nothing will make me change my mind. I'm totally sick of the White Sox 2015 season. This win four in a row lose seven of eight crap is ridiculous and a lot of it is on the manager. I've heard of roller coaster but this is ridiculous. Every little win streak ends and is followed by horrific losing streaks. Everybody knows it's going to culminate with some massive losing skein at some point in September that sends this team finally about 20 under. Please get us a real manager for next season. To those Robin supporters answer this honestly: Do you want this guy taking us onto the field next April?? The chance of this bulls*** happening all over again is REAL!
  23. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:56 AM) Offense has scored three runs or less in four of their last eight games. Tonight marked the 15th time the Sox held an opponent to three runs or less...and lost. Mark Team is in the tank ... again. I think they've lose 7 of last 8 in Kauffman and two more are a comin. I'm sure that thread about draft picks will be active again as the Sox record creeps the other way again.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:51 AM) duh You say 'duh' but our great front office couldn't project we had a horses*** team a week before the deadline? I mean, yes, I fell for it during the 7-1 road trip. But they are highly paid professional baseball people. They couldn't tell it was smoke and mirrors and time to trade everybody??? At least Shark and Lexi and LaRoche and Melky and Avi?" QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) Well, Jones looked fantastic. If he's healthy, an 8th-9th inning of him and Robertson is nasty. Yes, but the question is when will it show up in the standings? Next year? Five years from now? We never contend anymore despite some talent. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:06 AM) KC fans I've seen on twitter this year hate that their 3rd best reliever is their closer. Yes but to be fair, their fans are the worst I've ever seen. They are miserable morons. Seriously you have to see them to believe them. Actually Holland is still worthy of being closer. He's only blown 3 saves. Put anybody in the closer role and it's different. Davis might do OK. They need to ride Holland until his time is over. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:15 AM) Game was lost in the 8th. Saladino missed 2 hangers one he didn't swimg at, Abreu didn't swing at one and struck out on a pitch a foot outside. Exactly. Thing is, you just knew they weren't going to score. Hochevar did exactly what he needed to do. Whiff an overmatched rookie? Done. Make sure Abreu went fishing on strike three? Done. Then use your scouting report and retire Melky on a drive toward the right field line perfectly positioned. Easy out and completle failure. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2015 -> 03:19 AM) Saladino was a mediocre hitter for most of his minor league career. I truly hope they don't think he's the long-term answer at 3B. Great great post, fathom! He's not more than a utility guy.
  25. Second and third nobody out and that happens? LOL. Saladino - overmatched, whiff. Abreu - clueless on the strikeout pitch way outside of the zone; waved at it like a complete stiff. Melky - nice little drive to right; Royals have Sox scouted perfectly; Rios makes it look harder than it was. LOL. Failure. Bad teams don't score in that situation; we have a bad team!
