  1. I thought it was rude of Scioscia to not take the argument a few steps off the plate. I mean Robertson should have been warming up or playing soft toss with Tyler the whole duration of the argument IMO. It was selfish/prickish to stand right on the plate!
  2. QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:16 AM) Anybody think Hawk will slip up and say something that may get him fired? He has said some pretty stupid things. The "Latin guys aren't funny in the clubhouse." comment. "Typical Asian motion. Deceptive!" when talking about a submarine asian pitcher. Saying "oriental" sounds kind of weird too. I'm not saying those examples are offensive, but I can see him taking it a step further on accident and offending some people. Did he really say the Latin thing? That's getting close to fireable offense in the day and age of PC stuff. Hawk is an idiot for saying Sox have more talent though. I agree we might win two positions of the nine. Yes we have better starting pitching and they have a better pen. Their bench is way better. Thing is even though our pitching is better, their scouts are so much better they absolutely know how to get our guys out and keep 'em in the park. So what happens is we basically lose every series against KC and almost every game. That's hard to do when you play 19 times.
  3. If you don't want to read this whole post, just please tell me: How much do you pay for your suits? You attorneys probably have to buy a s***ton of them. Please give me the price you pay. Now read on if you wish ... My line of work doesn't require I wear suits or sportscoats like most jobs nowadays. But I need one or two for weddings/funerals, whatever. The suits I own are kind of worn and the pants are kind of tight even though I gave up pop and beer over a year ago. So I went to buy a new suit this week at a good, but not amazing, men's store. Nothing like Pennys/Kohls, a real men's suit store. Tell you the truth I didn't even check the price tags as the guy in the store helped me try on some charcoal black suits. He was a substandard salesman IMO especially for a decent men's store. I was just trying them on thinking how much I hate shopping when I found one that appeared suitable/good for purchase. So I tell the guy I'll take this one and look at the price tag and see it's 980 bucks. In my mind, that's a lot of money for a suit. Some people pay less for a used car. Not wanting to be cheap and not wanting to shop any longer I said I'd take it so he did the measurements, etc. So I'm getting ready to pay and feeling buyer's regret and I say, "Do you guys have any sales coming up? I'd hate to pay this and find out you have a big sale coming up Friday?" So the guy says, "It's actually 60 percent off on Thursday (I was shopping on Tuesday)." I said, "60 percent???" That's quite a bit. Can you hold it and I'll come back Thursday?" He said, "Sure." My question is: Would a GOOD salesperson have told the customer right off the bat: "Hey buddy a little tip. This same suit will be 60 percent off in 48 hours." Or does management frown on telling customers about upcoming sales? I went in today and the final bill with some shirt deals and tie was under 500 bucks. I felt much better than I did when the bill with tax would have escalated well over $1000. Am I a tightwad? Are suits under $1000 bucks lousy? Am I cheap? Do you have an opinion on my story and suits in general? Thank you.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) Saw on Facebook that an ex of mine got engaged. Haven't talked to her in 2 years but it's natural to feel weird about it, isn't it? Not my first ex to get engaged. Starting to feel like a Good Luck Chuck. Ha My trainwreck from a couple of months ago is just that and more. Haven't talked to her in awhile but a mutual friend said she started dating a guy and is cheating on him with a bartender. I won't say this often, but you guys were right. So glad to be away from her. But she was so hot... Brian, my take is, good for you on getting to bang a truly hot woman. But you are better off not being with her. You said it all with the word "trainwreck." That's cool you got to bang a perfect 10. Are you a modelesque type guy who gets a lot of 10s? Good for u. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) +1000 People who cheat are immoral and weak. I don't care how s***ty your marriage is, work on it or get out, THEN go bang the 22 year old. I cannot fathom doing something like that to my wife. I don't condone cheating and feel guilty that I didn't tell him not to cheat. I did finally tell him, "Maybe you should start a new leaf and go to counseling and never cheat again. Just tell yourself it was a good run, I got caught, she forgave me and now I'm gonna be a good husband.' He told me that won't work as even though he got caught he's still seeing the mistress. He said he loves his wife and loves his kids but he's an addict and needs to cheat. His wife is so nice. She doesn't want to leave him. The kids are so cute. It's a perfect little family. But he said he can't stop cheating. I do feel badly because at the wedding the minister challenged the congregation to "help these 2 avoid the pitfalls of marriage." It's like the minister knew he was gonna cheat. I haven't done a very good job of stopping it. This guy has been to Vegas with me and friends and on all the trips he gets hookers when we would never think of doing that. He makes a good buck and is a good guy but he cheats.
  5. I read about it. You kind of said it all in your post. Sad.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 11:10 PM) Harold Dean would be a better example. Sanders has said many outlandish things as well. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/female-vp-tr...-174100879.html One way for Trump to counterbalance the feminist backlash...guaranteeing a woman would be his VP candidate. Mentions Susana Martinez, Joni Ernst, Ayotte, Nikki Haley, C. Rice and even Oprah. Fiorina might be a good choice, but then he would have to walk back last week's comments ripping her...Palin, Meg Whitman two other possibilities, although Palin's 15 minutes of fame are fading finally. I wonder if Oprah would do it. That would be the best ticket. Take this to its logical conclusion. Trump/Oprah vs. a lifelong politician in Hillary. That would be funny cause Opray probably would tire of Trump during the campaign and say, "I only did this to make sure a woman was involved. Please everybody, vote for Hillary; I'm dropping out."
  7. It looks like Trump is running away with the primaries. If he really wants the nomination he'll probably get it. He's really going to look like an asshole if he drops out while holding a big lead. Hillary basically gets a bye in the general election running against Trump. Of course she'd roll to victory no matter whom the Repubs came up with. I mean it truly is impossible to see any of the boring Republican candidates emerging. That leaves Trump who just might win the Repub. nomination if he really wants it.
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 07:55 PM) I'm more upset at the people who put in there. I'm more upset at the people who sign aging sluggers from NL who fail at DH. I'm more upset at an organization who tries to fix things by repeating the same mistakes. Most likely we will also feel the same way about the next Sox manager because experienced need not apply. It' a bottom line business and the Sox have been pretty lousy with Robin. I mean if managers don't matter we can keep him the next 20 years. But the way sports are run nowadays he certainly should be given the boot after this season. If we want to keep him forever, fine, but he deserves the boot over this season and others. Just the way sports works.
  9. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) Melky is not the reason that KC keeps owning the SOX. The Sox refuse to compete against teams like the Royals, basically against all teams in the division. They come out and what will be will be. Melky's behavior doesn't help set a tone of competition. Guys like Danks and Sale. They get after it and compete. It's about fighting and getting the most out of your ability or your at bats if you are a position player. Or fielding and baserunning intently. Having your heads in the game. Melky acting like a clown sets back the competitive nature of our team.
  10. It's our bad luck that LaRussa, Leyland aren't 10 years younger and Lasorda 15-20 years younger. And Bobby Cox not 15 years younger. There are no good veteran candidates besides Gardy.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 04:59 AM) This is a game. There is 162 of them. Have fun. I really don't mind Melky having fun. But he took it to clown status vs. Kansas City. It really made it seem like he didn't care about anything but Melky having a good time. He hugged everybody and everybody on the Royals hugged back while laughing as they kicked our ass three straight (again). I mean at some point get pissed and beat the Royals once in a while. The season series record against KC has an affect on the Sox WC status. You can't get owned by one team like that and expect to make the WC.
  12. I wonder if deep down Ozzie cares about how his career ended. He did get a WS ring as a manager and unless he's a moron with his money he should be set financially and his offspring are set forever financially. I mean it's pretty weird to have your mouth cost you your career. But that was it. If Ozzie shut up like Robin does he'd have managed forever. Not with the Sox probably, but he'd have the WS ring thus would have been employed til 70. I wonder if he cares or if he's glad he was the Mouth that Roared.
  13. Good job by Avi. He looked feeble early in that at bat and turned it around with the perfect gapper. Sox sweep the Angels. Let the roller coaster continue. Glad to see them sweep Conor. Conor is one of the reasons the team has blown chunks this year. Good to sweep him off the Cellular field. Glad I was wrong. Sox win a game they shoulda won in 9 innings.
  14. Would be nice to score a run but when our team gets going this badly offensively we usually don't find a way to score. Hard to believe nobody can lift and pull homers in the Cell anymore.
  15. Would be a shame to not get out of this jam. How bout a grounder or pop up to Saladino?
  16. Angels had no business winning this game. Will take a minor miracle to salvage a W.
  17. Too many mistakes. Our team blows when you look at the big picture.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 04:32 AM) Saladino might as well bunt and make Conor throw him out. Good call. I think if Saladino can't slash a hit there he has no business being in the big leagues. A bunt was really a poor idea with two outs. Conor, as bad as he is, actually made a good throw on Flowers' bunt. What a s***ty bunt. At least bunt it to Conor. We're gonna lose. Too bad.
  19. Thank goodness Flowers got it down. Now all they need is one, clutch hit. Ballgame can be won with a hit.
  20. Great job by Leury. Have to steal here.
  21. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 04:10 AM) Time is running out. The big three are up this inning. Can't contain those beasts for very long. Exactly. It was a good run but we're out of pitching now. Unfortunately another negative greg prediction but one that is going to be correct unfortunately. Prove me wrong.
  22. Damn. Double play. Well, I thought we were gonna win. But now I said we 100 percent are gonna lose tonight's game. We're out of pitching. Only hacks remain in the pen. In fact, who is left?
  23. That Sanchez play was outstanding! That Conor throw was miserable. Wonder if he'll get DFA'ed. Seriously if he's hitting under .200 what good is he? Let's win it here. Stupid to not win this game.
  24. Good job, Leury. Time to win another extra inning game. Angels need to be swept out of town by the Jeckyll and Hydes.
  25. Duke is yet another failure. Sox bullpen has been a trainwreck for years.
