QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 04:01 AM) Are you that hard headed? If the ump would have said he wasn't out Tyler would have thrown the ball to 1st. Why did they review it then? Clearly the ump knows he called him out and everybody knows that. That's why I'm asking. Why was it reviewed then?
-
Is he out because the ump clearly signaled out? Cause Tyler didn't tag him.
-
Just tell him to move over and warm up.
-
Sox catch a break. Never tagged him. Start warming up David; stay warm.
-
Tyler screwed up unfortunately. I can see why he didn't throw it though with the ump saying OUT. Gonna get overturned.

John Danks is officially back!!!! Another great team - another STELLAR performance!! This man deserves all the credit in the world. Anybody who criticizes him, forgive me for being an asshole, is ridiculously unfair! Good job John Danks. (He still had a lot of pop on that last at bat to Victorino).

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 02:35 AM) Nice job by Flowers and Beckham! I hope they have the bullpen ready for Danks I was just going to address you in a comment. You always freak out when Danks ultimately gets hit in a game and then you claim how he's trash. Well, now it's AGAIN on Robin. He's done an excellent job. He may have more left, but Robin should be ready to rescue Danks from this point of the game on. I am hoping he still has the sixth and seventh in him but you never know. What I do know is he's been AMAZING again tonight. Should have a zero up there. Lexi's error.
-
I'm sick of former White Sox players making a living on killing the White Sox. Rios, Gillaspie. Geezus. Embarrassing to let a stiff like Gillaspie beat us. Thanks Lexi.
-
Sorry, that was an error on Lexi. Bad call. Shoddy defense.

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) Let's just call it 85 wins as the magic number. Yankees: Older team, questionable pitching staff - 61-50, just like everybody else have to play their own division the most the last month of the season. Not going into details, dont know their actual schedule, but that means the Blue Jays, Orioles, and Tampa (who is getting Smyly back). Think it will be tough to realistically catch the first WC spot though. 24-27 would equal an 85 win season -- doesn't seem that out of the question. Rest of the East: Like mentioned right above - those teams all have to play each other -- you'd hope one team (Toronto) wins the majority of their games and the rest of the teams beat each other up. Preferably everybody beats up on the Yankees, or we just concede that one spot of the Wild Card is unattainable. Baltimore would have to go 28-22 in their final 50 to get to 85 wins. TB 28-21 in their final 49. With these teams hopefully beating each other up -- and maybe some help from BOS? Those don't seem too crazy. LAA: CJ Wilson is done for year, they can't win on the road lately, in a funk, and have 4 upcoming against the Royals. 26-24 would get them to 85 wins over their final 50 games. Let's say we win tonight, and sweep, and then they lose 3 of 4 to the Royals. They'd have to 25-20 in their final 45 games to get to 85. Again, playing the West the final month. Which I would call easier. Texas: 51 games left. 30-21 to get to 85 wins. We all know their holes. But they do have Hamels now. I think you have to include them, especially when they are playing SEA and OAK over the final month. Houston: 24-24 over their last 48 to get to 85 wins. Can safely assume it will happen. White Sox: 51 games left. Would have to go 32-19 to get to 85 wins. TOUGH. VERY TOUGH. We have 6 against the Royals in there too, 3 against the Cubs, 4 against the Yankees ..... BUT also we play in the weakest division right now. Tigers, Cleveland, Minny may be out of it. May be playing young guys. Who knows. I'm saying 85 wins does it this year for the second spot. Six more against the Royals? My god. Baseball's unbalanced schedule is a travesty. That's five more losses right there.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) I am 95% kidding. I'll give him a nice round of applause though. Hopefully he'll bring the bad glove and boot a couple.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 05:35 PM) Eaton... If Trace is the real deal, you trade Eaton. No brainer.

White Sox have worked out Eddy Julio Martinez twice or more

Is this guy a star? This could cure a lot of ills if he's a good hitter/outfielder. Sign him and trade Melky and one of Eaton/Avi perhaps? -
QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) Win today and I'll still have some hope....yes we got swept by the Royals, but they weren't destroyed by them in any game. A loss is a loss but they still only lost each game by 1 run. So what if they "only" lost by one run in each game. They also had key blunders like the Soto pickoff. The WC window has closed. Even if the team somehow creeps to one under .500 again, it just as quickly will lose the next four to get where the team is most comfy -- about six under .500. That's how this team flies. It doesn't like to compete. It just kind of hangs out.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 06:51 PM) Lately, Danks has been even more impressive than the ERA. In his last 7 starts, he didn't give up any runs, in 3 of them. In a 4TH start, he gave up just 1 run. He did get bombed in 2 starts, giving up 6 runs in each, but I'll take that kind of overall performance, from the Fifth Starter, any time. In his last start, I didn't see the whole game, but I noticed that he was hitting 92 and 93 MPH, on a few pitches. Perhaps his strength and velocity are getting back to his pre-injury level. If he can maintain his recent velocity, and continue to locate, he'll be able to contribute, going forward. Glad to see Danks getting his props in this thread. Yes he could get rocked tonight, but his performance has been encouraging.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 03:49 AM) Here's what will happen. We'll sweep the Angels, creating even more hype for the Sox/Cubs series. We'll sweep the Cubs, securing the Crosstown Cup and a 57-58 record. Then, we lose 8 in a row. I'd take the 57-58 and see what happens in the upteenth try to vault over .500. -
The roller coaster is back. Not that I'm complaining. I like when the Sox are in a positive trend. You just have to be ready for the negative trend after it maxes out at four wins in a row and 7 of 8. As far as Flowers, he is having a lousy year numbers wise; only 29 RBIs and a horrific on base percentage entering tonight but he also had only 259 plate appearances. It's not like he's getting all of the at bats. Soto has a much better on base percentage in his 153 plate appearances. But he's RBI deficient as well with 19.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 02:01 PM) Why wold you dump Melky, Robertson, and Shark? I've long advocated having a "do-over" of last offseason. Albeit it may be a little late now. But those who have good memories may remember me advocating them getting dealt way before the trade deadlines. Yes, now it may be tougher, etc. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 04:46 PM) Greg you absolutely can drive me bonkers with your bulls***. What the f*** is wrong with you, son? I've been frustrated by the team's up, down, crazy play. And LaRoche kills me not in a good way. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 08:08 PM) Greg is seriously one of the best parts of this website Yes! I have a supporter. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) He can't be serious though . I think he must have a warped sense of humor or enjoy the attention. No one can constantly defend Danks and Flowers the way he does without some agenda. I guess people call it trolling . I mean he gets to see his name online, laugh at how crazy people get over his fake opinions. I mean he's a Sox fan no doubt but he has to be pulling everyone's legs a lot of the time. I have a thing for Danks because I like pitchers who get the ball and fricking throw it, ala Buehrle. Also I don't begrudge him the salary he makes, as I contend it's not his fault he got the big contract. I also think he's made a nice comeback from the surgery. I really like his approach. He may not have the best stuff anymore but he gets it and deals and like I've pointed out has pretty much been lights out effective HALF the time. Yeah half the time isn't good considering his salary, but I like his style. And I'm pulling for him. So sorrrrrrrryyyyyyy if you hate Danks. I love him. As far as Flowers, I probably am too kind to him. But I contend he's not the devil. He's average IMO. Maybe a little below average but he's not trash. And I don't "pull legs" or "troll." I bleed White Sox black! QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) Have you spoken with fans at games or listened to Chicago sports radio? Greg sort of represents the opinion of a lot of our fans. Yes I wanted a do-over, trading all those guys we got in the offseason. I never was in favor of acquiring Melky cause of the roid past. But I did give Melky props when we were hot and I thought back in the WC race.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 02:07 AM) God no... just f***ing stop. It'd be nice if Saladino could learn to hit better. it's nice to see him vacuum everything at 3B. Quite a difference from the stiff, Gillaspie. -

Sox are really playing great tonight and in this series! Rodon back looking like a special prospect. that last DP was awesome. I don't want to complain, but it's so funny. Now the Jeckyll Hyde is back in effect with the pendulum to the good White Sox after a horrific stretch of Bad White Sox, lol. -
Lot of unrest in Ferguson tonight. I bet you if they start looting it'll be a different story this time. Lot of tazing and arresting I bet you.
-
If Hahn can dump Shark, LaRoche, Melky, Robertson, Duke and Lexi I'll be a happy camper for starters.
-
LOL at baseball. Last offseason no way Royals could afford him; he was destined to sign for huge bucks. Now NOBODY wants him. Way to roll, baseball execs. You made Shields a zillionaire for no reason. Nobody wants him now after everybody had to have him and pay him MEGA bucks! That will be this offseason with Shark. And the fanbase will be all excited during the winter ... til reality hits in May and June and they want to dump the salary, lol.
-
Great win for the Jeckyll and Hydes. This team is due to win 4-5 in a row and get to one under .500. That's how they roll.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 11, 2015 -> 06:03 AM) Well, they're for sure going to learn if they don't know already that Sox fans are not in real good moods. I actually used the word "optimistic" though. I couldn't help it because frankly I am. Not for this season any more but in general, I am. Why optimistic? I know our pitching is great but it's been allegedly great for some time now and we continue to be a last place team in the Central. I don't really think Saladino and Sanchez are the answer despite their good gloves and Eaton and Avi are still question marks for the future. You guys like our setup men, I think they blow. Petricka and Putnam are average at best and Duke isn't that reliable. Robertson is great but still blows a lotta saves. Flowers' long streaks of suckage are a constant problem and Lexi is old. So why are you optimistic. Anderson has to be great or we are in a world of hurt.
