Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:36 PM) Hawk deserves every piece of criticism. He is a complete joke. How come it seems half our fan base hates our legendary broadcaster? Any team that has a legend seems to embrace their legendary broadcaster but not White Sox fans. Hawk is entertaining, his voice is not grating, he's creative, he's funny, he actually blasts the team that writes his checks (or at least has a great say in his hiring) on occasion unlike all other broadcast crews, he doesn't mock the opponent like other teams crews, he tells good stories, he has good catchphrases but doesn't overuse them (except KC special for some reason). He's great. Why do some people want a plastic, Wink Martendale-voiced homer? -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) Come on, guys... you can hate on Samardzija, but it really wasn't a bad trade. We'll see how Ravelo does, but as for the others... there was no place for Bassitt on this team, Phegley is a backup, and Semien has been the worst defensive player in baseball. I dislike when people say things like this because it was a horrible trade. Sox gave up way too much. Now if the Sox would have traded Shark well before the deadline and got 2-3 pieces back, it would have been great. As of now, Sox got a one-year player who has been lousy on a lousy team.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:54 PM) Now is the time to sign him. Buy low Ugh. Hope you are kidding. He's average at best. Somebody will sign him for HUGE bucks in the offseason, though. He's got the name. Why oh why did the Sox not trade him when he was on that roll earlier in the season? They could have gotten so much for him. So scared to make a trade.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) Lol...come on now. One year of Shark at $15M isn't much of a risk. I know you are joking. Amazingly though, somebody will give him 19-22 mill a year for 5 years. That GM should be fired the same day he signs Shark to that deal. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) At least we got Garcia and Montas back from Peavy. If Samardzija finishes with a 5+ ERA, he might actually be better off accepting the QO for just one year. Somebody will pay him. it's the way baseball works. In the offseason it'll sound like a great move to the fanbase of the team that acquires the great Shark. Reality will hit once the season starts. By June the fans and front office will desperately want to get rid of him. -

Cant wait to read through the thread. I missed the game today thankfully. Sounds like a game that might have been a bit frustrating when you want the Sox to win. Seems like Shark reeked and LaRoche continues to suck. Just bat LaRoche ninth if you have to play him. We're catching the Cubs at a very poor time, folks. They are red hot. We are red not. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 09:00 PM) The market will not insure my spouse unless they are forced to do so. He mentioned health savings accounts, a favorite of "market" driven health care, and they're useless to me because of pre-existing conditions. Literally impossible to put enough funds into an HSA to pay for insurance when insurers won't insure you unless you're on a group plan. That's the whole point. That's probably the only reason to elect Hilly. Any republican will take away the new health care plan. One thing that may doom Trump is the longer he's in the more it's going to be revealed that he is incredibly rich and has stepped on a lot of little people in his life. I get that people like me love his candidness and non/PC behavior, but he is not a savior for the little man at all. He's a rich guy who likes to step on the little man and anybody else to earn a buck. We need a Trump demeanor wise who has heart and they are not out there. Hillary is too mean. Bush is too dull. maybe the former surgeon is the answer. I'll have to read about him.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) 2. A couple months ago I pointed out how the Republicans wanted to take health care coverage away from 15 million+ people. You couldn't believe that anyone would that callous at the time and now you endorse that. I won't even bother noting that the Deficit has shrunk by almost 75% under the current President compared to the last budget of the previous administration or that the bill you wanted to repeal in #2 has been basically the biggest long-term deficit reduction bill since 1993 because you won't pay any attention to that. 2. He had some health care plan that included the market or something. I didn't understand it but he mentioned it. The deficit is shrinking? How so. I thought it gets bigger every day and is soon to cripple us from what they're saying. it will be the end of us when it reaches a certain number he said.

Just took a long walk and listened to Trump's interview with Hannity as I walked. Hmmm. Trump gave a lot of specific policy issues. -- Laughed at critics and said it would be easy, 100 percent assured, to get Mexico to pay for the wall. -- Said he'd kill Obamacare immediately. Can the next president do that? -- Repeated the bulls*** about China and bringing manufacturers back to the U.S. I still wont vote for Donnie because of the fact he makes his ties there because "it's business" when he could be a trailblazer and do the right thing and make the ties here. I wish Hannity would have grilled him on that. He merely let Trump say he'd bring manufacturing back here. -- Said he's the best candidate far and away for the economy. Said he will turn it around. Says without him, if that deficit gets much bigger, it's the end of the world as we know it. Once again, he sounded good. Can't imagine any of the Republican bores knocking him off the top spot. It's gonna probably be Hilly vs. Trump. He said he would probably bring up Bill Clinton's marital affairs during the debates with Hilly. Not 100 percent sure but said it's fair game. Said he'd be better for women than Hilly. Repeated that he paid Hilly's campaign money so she'd take his calls, go to his wedding, etc.

The White Sox season has been maddening and will continue to be maddening (I fully expect the Angels to get revenge on us with a sweep and we'll lose all six or five of the six remaining with KC) but tonight's Royals game again shows how weird baseball is. They are 20 some games over .500 and rolling along but look at the things their fans have to worry about ... Davis and Holland both sucked tonight. Holland has been human this year; very good to great, but human. How will that bullpen fare in the postseason? Next ... Rios remains Rios. Can Rios the loafer actually reach a World Series? And their starting rotation. Hmmm, on paper in a 7-game playoff series. They got some pretty implodable arms. Duffy? Excellent against the Sox but has struggled some. Guthrie? Lights out against the Sox but sucks. Ventura? Excellent last postseason but will he suck this postseason? Are Cueto and Volquez enough to ride all the way through? My guess is they will go on a postseason roll and Duffy and Ventura will excel in the postseason to go with the 2 studs, but even at 23 over .500 I guarantee you the talk shows will be all worried on Friday about KC's postseason chances. p.s. any of you who are still optimistic about Sox getting over .500 at some point, remember Angels to gain revenge next road trip and KC is still out there to mop us up six more times.

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?

Hawk is great. Last night's game is a pure example of how some of you take him for granted. The game went 4 extra innings and he and Stoney were absolutely a delight to listen to. I'm serious. They are both baseball people and talk about interesting s***. I'm sick of listening to Steve Physioc of the Royals and his perfect enunciation and constant blabbering about how to buy tickets and ridiculing the opponent and typical broacast bulls*** when you are a shill for the team. Hawk is a homer "put it on the board, yes" but I'll support him forever cause he does rip the White Sox. Any announcer does that for another team and they're gone, fired, gonzo after the season. Hawk WILL and does rip the White Sox and I love when he does that. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 02:30 AM) All I can say is no matter how expensive the suit, whether sixty three hundred dollars or a poultry three thousand dollars it will not grant you the respect you deserve. Come on. Damn is $3000 still a cheap suit? QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 02:32 AM) All men's stores have tons of sales and you shouldn't ever spend the tag price since its BS. "If there was no sale coming up could I barter like buying a car? "980 bucks? I'll give you 650 right now or see me when the sale is coming up."

QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:47 AM) Hawk is a total douche so that's saying a lot of Stone. Are both really jerks? Any proof? -
I thought it was rude of Scioscia to not take the argument a few steps off the plate. I mean Robertson should have been warming up or playing soft toss with Tyler the whole duration of the argument IMO. It was selfish/prickish to stand right on the plate!

QUOTE (ron883 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 03:16 AM) Anybody think Hawk will slip up and say something that may get him fired? He has said some pretty stupid things. The "Latin guys aren't funny in the clubhouse." comment. "Typical Asian motion. Deceptive!" when talking about a submarine asian pitcher. Saying "oriental" sounds kind of weird too. I'm not saying those examples are offensive, but I can see him taking it a step further on accident and offending some people. Did he really say the Latin thing? That's getting close to fireable offense in the day and age of PC stuff. Hawk is an idiot for saying Sox have more talent though. I agree we might win two positions of the nine. Yes we have better starting pitching and they have a better pen. Their bench is way better. Thing is even though our pitching is better, their scouts are so much better they absolutely know how to get our guys out and keep 'em in the park. So what happens is we basically lose every series against KC and almost every game. That's hard to do when you play 19 times. -
If you don't want to read this whole post, just please tell me: How much do you pay for your suits? You attorneys probably have to buy a s***ton of them. Please give me the price you pay. Now read on if you wish ... My line of work doesn't require I wear suits or sportscoats like most jobs nowadays. But I need one or two for weddings/funerals, whatever. The suits I own are kind of worn and the pants are kind of tight even though I gave up pop and beer over a year ago. So I went to buy a new suit this week at a good, but not amazing, men's store. Nothing like Pennys/Kohls, a real men's suit store. Tell you the truth I didn't even check the price tags as the guy in the store helped me try on some charcoal black suits. He was a substandard salesman IMO especially for a decent men's store. I was just trying them on thinking how much I hate shopping when I found one that appeared suitable/good for purchase. So I tell the guy I'll take this one and look at the price tag and see it's 980 bucks. In my mind, that's a lot of money for a suit. Some people pay less for a used car. Not wanting to be cheap and not wanting to shop any longer I said I'd take it so he did the measurements, etc. So I'm getting ready to pay and feeling buyer's regret and I say, "Do you guys have any sales coming up? I'd hate to pay this and find out you have a big sale coming up Friday?" So the guy says, "It's actually 60 percent off on Thursday (I was shopping on Tuesday)." I said, "60 percent???" That's quite a bit. Can you hold it and I'll come back Thursday?" He said, "Sure." My question is: Would a GOOD salesperson have told the customer right off the bat: "Hey buddy a little tip. This same suit will be 60 percent off in 48 hours." Or does management frown on telling customers about upcoming sales? I went in today and the final bill with some shirt deals and tie was under 500 bucks. I felt much better than I did when the bill with tax would have escalated well over $1000. Am I a tightwad? Are suits under $1000 bucks lousy? Am I cheap? Do you have an opinion on my story and suits in general? Thank you.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 10:43 AM) Saw on Facebook that an ex of mine got engaged. Haven't talked to her in 2 years but it's natural to feel weird about it, isn't it? Not my first ex to get engaged. Starting to feel like a Good Luck Chuck. Ha My trainwreck from a couple of months ago is just that and more. Haven't talked to her in awhile but a mutual friend said she started dating a guy and is cheating on him with a bartender. I won't say this often, but you guys were right. So glad to be away from her. But she was so hot... Brian, my take is, good for you on getting to bang a truly hot woman. But you are better off not being with her. You said it all with the word "trainwreck." That's cool you got to bang a perfect 10. Are you a modelesque type guy who gets a lot of 10s? Good for u. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) +1000 People who cheat are immoral and weak. I don't care how s***ty your marriage is, work on it or get out, THEN go bang the 22 year old. I cannot fathom doing something like that to my wife. I don't condone cheating and feel guilty that I didn't tell him not to cheat. I did finally tell him, "Maybe you should start a new leaf and go to counseling and never cheat again. Just tell yourself it was a good run, I got caught, she forgave me and now I'm gonna be a good husband.' He told me that won't work as even though he got caught he's still seeing the mistress. He said he loves his wife and loves his kids but he's an addict and needs to cheat. His wife is so nice. She doesn't want to leave him. The kids are so cute. It's a perfect little family. But he said he can't stop cheating. I do feel badly because at the wedding the minister challenged the congregation to "help these 2 avoid the pitfalls of marriage." It's like the minister knew he was gonna cheat. I haven't done a very good job of stopping it. This guy has been to Vegas with me and friends and on all the trips he gets hookers when we would never think of doing that. He makes a good buck and is a good guy but he cheats.

I read about it. You kind of said it all in your post. Sad.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 11:10 PM) Harold Dean would be a better example. Sanders has said many outlandish things as well. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/female-vp-tr...-174100879.html One way for Trump to counterbalance the feminist backlash...guaranteeing a woman would be his VP candidate. Mentions Susana Martinez, Joni Ernst, Ayotte, Nikki Haley, C. Rice and even Oprah. Fiorina might be a good choice, but then he would have to walk back last week's comments ripping her...Palin, Meg Whitman two other possibilities, although Palin's 15 minutes of fame are fading finally. I wonder if Oprah would do it. That would be the best ticket. Take this to its logical conclusion. Trump/Oprah vs. a lifelong politician in Hillary. That would be funny cause Opray probably would tire of Trump during the campaign and say, "I only did this to make sure a woman was involved. Please everybody, vote for Hillary; I'm dropping out."
-
It looks like Trump is running away with the primaries. If he really wants the nomination he'll probably get it. He's really going to look like an asshole if he drops out while holding a big lead. Hillary basically gets a bye in the general election running against Trump. Of course she'd roll to victory no matter whom the Repubs came up with. I mean it truly is impossible to see any of the boring Republican candidates emerging. That leaves Trump who just might win the Repub. nomination if he really wants it.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 07:55 PM) I'm more upset at the people who put in there. I'm more upset at the people who sign aging sluggers from NL who fail at DH. I'm more upset at an organization who tries to fix things by repeating the same mistakes. Most likely we will also feel the same way about the next Sox manager because experienced need not apply. It' a bottom line business and the Sox have been pretty lousy with Robin. I mean if managers don't matter we can keep him the next 20 years. But the way sports are run nowadays he certainly should be given the boot after this season. If we want to keep him forever, fine, but he deserves the boot over this season and others. Just the way sports works.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) Melky is not the reason that KC keeps owning the SOX. The Sox refuse to compete against teams like the Royals, basically against all teams in the division. They come out and what will be will be. Melky's behavior doesn't help set a tone of competition. Guys like Danks and Sale. They get after it and compete. It's about fighting and getting the most out of your ability or your at bats if you are a position player. Or fielding and baserunning intently. Having your heads in the game. Melky acting like a clown sets back the competitive nature of our team.
-
It's our bad luck that LaRussa, Leyland aren't 10 years younger and Lasorda 15-20 years younger. And Bobby Cox not 15 years younger. There are no good veteran candidates besides Gardy.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 04:59 AM) This is a game. There is 162 of them. Have fun. I really don't mind Melky having fun. But he took it to clown status vs. Kansas City. It really made it seem like he didn't care about anything but Melky having a good time. He hugged everybody and everybody on the Royals hugged back while laughing as they kicked our ass three straight (again). I mean at some point get pissed and beat the Royals once in a while. The season series record against KC has an affect on the Sox WC status. You can't get owned by one team like that and expect to make the WC.
-
I wonder if deep down Ozzie cares about how his career ended. He did get a WS ring as a manager and unless he's a moron with his money he should be set financially and his offspring are set forever financially. I mean it's pretty weird to have your mouth cost you your career. But that was it. If Ozzie shut up like Robin does he'd have managed forever. Not with the Sox probably, but he'd have the WS ring thus would have been employed til 70. I wonder if he cares or if he's glad he was the Mouth that Roared.
-
Good job by Avi. He looked feeble early in that at bat and turned it around with the perfect gapper. Sox sweep the Angels. Let the roller coaster continue. Glad to see them sweep Conor. Conor is one of the reasons the team has blown chunks this year. Good to sweep him off the Cellular field. Glad I was wrong. Sox win a game they shoulda won in 9 innings.
