QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 03:38 AM) I really really really really hate to say this but Flowers and CERA just might be something to it. Flowers is an adequate catcher in today's major league baseball. Very few catchers can hit a lick. He has been much worse this year, admittedly. His homer numbers are down.

Everybody who pays attention to my posts knows I hate this team, but does it seem like a much worse team that its record to you? How is this team not 14 under .500 like cincy?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) The White Sox went with the middle ground - trying to compete without giving up their best long-term assets, but while sacrificing some depth and money. In the process they utterly failed. The end result is they have absolutely moved closer to wasting Sale and Abreu's best seasons, because they just wasted one of them at the very least. That's what you said the risk was of slowly trying to develop assets, and they did exactly that while trying to find "near future" assets. I think that's a very strong message from 2015. They spent a lot of assets on this season, got incredibly lucky with health, like unbelievably lucky with the health of their lineup, and they've barely improved from 2014. They have absolutely increased the chances of wasting their best years because they just wasted one. Good post. I agree. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 10:17 PM) They still have Robertson/Melky/Duke locked up for '16 and '17 and Robertson for '18. I don't think it is fair to write these assets off as useless because the team will not win this year. And yet you are, and have been, for the last several months. Duke is just another guy and he's trending downward IMO. He's a waste. Melky isn't totally worthless but he has no power and we need power at that position in the Cell. He's pretty ordinary at best. Robertson is a wasted commodity. He has great stuff but our team isn't a contender and doesn't need him. Sox have a ton of holes to even get to be a .500 team.

Amazing how tough it is to be a baseball player. Gillaspie went from last year appearing to be a guy who might last a while to a guy who now is done. He has no real upside. He is a lousy fielder and a fair to lousy hitter with no speed. Beckham also is done and it's time for the Sox to let him go.

Hopefully Kenny will take the job. He and everybody hit magic that one year which unfortunately played out to be a fluke. It was a glorious fluke but a fluke. KW needs to go.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 05:28 AM) Troll. Why? Give me reasons? Because I like Johnny Fricking Danks?? Do you know how long I've been a White sox fan? Long time.
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 04:49 AM) If Danks didn't give up the two bombs early in the first f***ing inning, his outing was good. His outing was good. He gave up four runs and pitched well. Does anybody agree with Greg that Danks had a good outing, because he did? What are you guys expecting? Just because the offense can't score 4 runs. I consider 3-4 runs in eight innings a good outing from a pitcher pretty much. A great outing would be 2 runs, maybe even some nights 3. I'm a little surprised nobody has forcefully jumped on the Danks bandwagon to support my positions. It grows a little old that a lot of people think he's trash when he's been OK to good this year overall. p.s. Just cause I like Danks doesn't mean I'm a troll. Fans have their favorite players for whatever reason. I could go through it again but I think everybody knows why I like Danks. A lot of posters are out there in support BTW. El Rockin always is praising guys. I like Danks; so shoot me.
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 04:37 AM) So giving up 5 runs but going deep is good? You're officially bonkers greg. That one run was unearned. Danks had another good outing. Four runs should be enough to at least force extra innings. Except this team can't hit. But Steverson gets a free pass; Robin gets a free pass and people blame guys like the gritty Danks. Danks is good IMO.

Tough break for the sox having to play the Angels right after sweeping them at home. No way they were going to repeat that with this lousy team. Have u noticed Sox quietly have been horsecrap on the road since that 7-1 trip? Totally pathetic.
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 04:14 AM) No greg, Danks pitched like s***. He settled down but did not do well at all. LOL. Did not do well at all? Didn't he pitch into the 8th? He's the least of this team's problems. This team blows and he's been a pleasant surprise.
-
Not to be a broken record, but another good performance by Danks. Do any of you use mlb.com?? How in the f*** can they run the same f***ing commercials over and over every half inning? It literally is driving me crazy hearing the accent of that race driver; then the Sox highlight reel with Hawk's calls. How can mlb.com advertisers think it's an effective strategy making you listen to the same f***ing commercial up to 20 times a night???

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) That's not even close to correct. Most of the GOP candidates are simply not known by the masses. They elicit neither a strong positive nor negative reaction. Trump has name recognition, which has resulted in the most early GOP support, but he's also one of the most hated. Somebody quoted him as recently saying Heidi Klum is not a 10 anymore. No women are gonna vote for Trump. He's doomed; Hilly in a landslide.

Boni got DFA'ed which was correct call. It's time to cut ties with Beckham forever. Gordon just can't cut it. Time to forget about Gordo forever. Micah can't do any worse in the backup role.

Here's what Shark deserves: 9 to 10 million a year for 4 years. I'd say 3 years but in this day and age four years. Here's what he'll get: 17 to 24 million a year for 5-6 years. Good luck to the team that gives him that kind of dough.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 05:49 AM) They have hit Abreu twice in a week, Sox suppose to let it go. Would be nice to see Danks hit their leadoff hitter tomorrow just to set a tone. Actually Rodon was so much in command he probably could have hit a guy tonight to get it out of the way. A benchclearing brawl would be OK for this team. Suspensions won't matter. Danks may be due for a bad outing anyway if he gets ejected after hitting the leadoff hitter.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 05:37 AM) Saladino's swing is awful. Way too long He's not a MLB caliber hitter. Great defender. Utility guy unfortunately. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 05:40 AM) Inexcusable managing by Ventura. He's one of the worst managers in baseball, way worse than Ozzie. But hey managers don't matter. So don't worry bout it. He doesn't mouth off to the press which is what everybody wanted. He's keeping Sox off the front pages quite well. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 05:41 AM) Tyler Flowers ruined the night. He left 5 guys on base himself... Let that sink in for a minute. That was ball four with the bases loaded. Sure he should have swung but it was ball four. The entire lineup and its approach sucked. Too many weak pop ups to center off that soft tossing lefty.
-
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 04:29 AM) Where are the posters that wanted to send Rodon back to the minors last month? I'm one of those posters. I admit when I was wrong unlike some of those who have destroyed Danks on this board.
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 05:10 AM) To be fair, he did correct himself. Cron was the guy they should have hit instead of laid one out perfectly for him to get his hands extended. Like I've said many times, Sox don't compete. They just do what they do. Win some lose some but never really get down and dirty.
-
man my mlb is so far behind; right now beckham in batting on mine. He blows.
-
That was the key at bat in the game. Will be tough to win now. That was ball four but too close to take. Shoulda fouled it off.
-
Terrible approach by Sox hitters vs. the soft tosser. Finally a line drive by Trayce instead of a damn pop up.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 04:34 AM) Been a boring game The cameramen need to show that woman who looks like Taylor Swift again.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 03:08 AM) I can't wait for 2017. Sale Quintana Rodon Fulmer Doesn't matter who #5 is Not to mention, that will likely be Tim Anderson's first year as starting SS. We're doing the opposite of what the Cubs did- we have drafted (sans Quintana, whom we signed) what has the potential to be the best rotation in baseball, while the Cubs have what may one day be the best lineup in baseball. Frankly, I like our route better. No. 5 is gonna have to be a righty. Too many lefties. I don't see how you can project to a certain year until the Sox project to have better hitters on board. The lineup sucks and right now doesn't project to be much better filling in with current minor leaguers. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 03:21 AM) I wouldn't say "way" more. He has 44 HRs over the past 3 MILB seasons. Hitting just .240 in that span. I'm sorry but I just don't get the hype over his batting. I know he has a nice, patient approach, but other than that, I don't get it. His minor league stats do not suggest stardom. They suggest Rios IMO.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 02:55 AM) I could be way off on this, but from the eye test, Thompson and Saladino seem like similar hitters. Thompson has never hit for average. He has drawn some walks in his career. What's he supposed to be? A .280, 20 home run, 80 ribbie ceiling guy with 15-20 SBs? Not flaming, but what does he project as? Kind of a David DeJesus type career? Maybe an Alex Rios clone?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 02:46 AM) Which is why they got swept last time. Dear lord the f***ing hyperbole in this post. I think you can make a case for Beckham being one of the most disappointing players in Sox history -- considering where he was drafted, what he has done and accomplishments of the teams he's been on. Sox have had a lot of busts, true, but he's right up there.
