  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 08:38 PM) They have been swept in one 4-game series this season. I doubt two is a record. I'd be willing to bet you it's at least 45 years that the Sox have been swept two four game series in a season.
  2. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) I think this story is really one where we can all learn from as far as judging talent and success. Gillaspie came from the Giants organization where he was stalled because of Pablo Sandoval occupying third base. He did pretty good for the Sox in 2014 with the bat even though he cooled towards the end. Defense was not good but the bat made it better to swallow and folks were giddy over Conor. In 2015 it caught up with him. Beckham is a different story in my opinion. He was signed by the Sox as a role player/utility player. He can play three infield positions quite well. Conor was limited to third base and struggled defensively. Gordon has helped us with his defense. You sign people to fill roles and you can't expect them to all be .400 hitters with 100 RBI's. I do get frustrated by unrealistic comments of some posters who just seem to want to hate on someone. Who would you replace Beckham with? Leury Garcia or try Bonifacio again? The young talent should be looked at as starters not part time utility players. I was judging Beckham by his original draft position. That's why I said he may be one of the biggest busts in Sox history. I wasn't talking about the new once a week Beckham we acquired. I'd just as soon see him gone and give Micah his at bats.
  3. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 09:00 PM) It's not any surprise that Robin would be staying. It just really pisses me off. Hell for all the s*** the McCaskey's get atleast they arent dumb enough to keep a guy like Trestman around for another year. It's the same way for the Bulls. You think if Hoiberg bombs and the season goes to hell Gar/Pax are going to be fired? Hell no. Jerry will let them go through as many coaches as possible. Which is why Hoiberg should have stayed at Iowa State. Rose is the kind of guy who gets coaches fired quick. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 09:03 PM) But you want Ozzie back. Of course I do. But I realize it's not going to ever happen.
  4. Can somebody ask the Elias or the Sox beat writers to check and see if the Sox lose tonight if it's the most times in a season they've been swept in 4 game series? Also the last time ANY TEAM has been swept in as many 4 game series in one season? I would think if they lose tonight it'll be the most 4-game series sweeps in one season since the 60s. Maybe it'll be a record. It's hard to lose 4 in a row to one team. Another reason Robin "should" be fired but won't be.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 07:14 PM) One on my sources: "Robin is going nowhere" and "Kenny and Hahn's differences in opinion towards operations is holding back the organization." Robin should buy some books and learn how to teach fundamentals in spring training, then. Kenny sounds like the worst executive a team can have. Please leave, Kenny. Go to Hollywood and be a model or something. Your value of yourself is inflated.
  6. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) I wonder if the Adam LaRoche benching continues tonight with Avi at DH and TT or JB in the outfield It's too late now. Just let LaRoche keep playing. What will it hurt? See if he can either dip below .200 and maybe retire or actually get hot. He should be fined for not going to left field in crucial situations. His hitting philosophy is ridiculous. How the Sox scouts thought that guy could help the team is beyond me. Waste.Of.Money.
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 06:41 AM) I HATE THIS TEAM! Definitely one of my least favorite teams ever. It's so hard to root for this team. The team is so unlikeable. Boneheaded mistakes; lousy at bats; piss poor effort. That's why I like Danks so much. It seems like he's trying at all times. Battling, even. I mean go down the line and say if they are likeable or not this year. ... Abreu yes for the most part; some horrific at bats; Sanchez, not really only cause his hitting blows; Lexi, gosh no; Saladino, yes cause of his defense but he is a lousy hitter; Melky NO; Eaton no cause of the amazingly bad start he got off to; Garcia no even though that was a great catch he made robbing the home run; Flowers no; LaRoche gosh no; Beckham no; Boni no; Soto no. Danks yes; Sale yes; Robertson yes; Q yes; Shark no; Rodon yes; Duke no; Petricka no; Putnam no; Shuck no; Thompson, too early to tell.
  8. QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 05:16 AM) I guess I'll take your word for it because no "feed" I saw was conclusive. Yes, he was out by a LOT. I also was watching Angels feed.
  9. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 05:02 AM) Why didn't he just bunt it down 3rd? That would take a team player. Modern players don't think team. They see the ball and try to pull the ball. This series was so predictable again. Angels given the opportunity to return home and get even for that sweep in Chicago. Can you believe how baseball/sports are another world? The middle class is lucky to earn 70,000 bucks, give or take a few thousand, per year. These baseball failures earn 10-15 million a year and are so fricking bad at their jobs. Hilarious. Fire everybody ASAP please.
  10. Poor Tyler is so slow.
  11. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 04:10 AM) Thanks Robin for leaving a starter in too long once again. Shark struggled all night and was past 100 pitches. If I saw that HR coming, why can't our leader? It looks like he plans to leave him in longer......might as well let it reach 5-0 before you go to the pen. Make a comeback impossible dumbass. You don't take out guys like Shark and Verlander and Peavy. They won't allow it. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 04:11 AM) I see no way Ventura should be brought back. The team predictably folded after that Boston series. Amen, brother. I thought we'd rally after the 7-1 road trip. I was sort of in favor of staying pat. But I'm not paid by the White Sox. They should have known the team was toast after the 7-1 road trip mainly cause the team blows. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 04:12 AM) Let's start by getting a 3b that can hit with some authority I wish baseball didn't have so many lousy hitters/players. Hardly anybody can hit .300 anymore.
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 04:02 AM) Put Shark out there for the 6th but if someone gets on leading off pull him. His magic at can't last much longer . Shark is far from finished. Remember like Peavy he won't be letting Robin take him out til the 8th at some point.
  13. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 03:43 AM) Two RBI opportunities and two hacking at the first pitch. Seriously... the execution is just not there. The White Sox to the naked eye are a.) poorly coached. b.) poorly put together (no power no speed no defense) and poor emotionally (players do not do the little things, do not really do anything to help the team win). The only thing this team has been decent at is winning games in extra innings.
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 20, 2015 -> 03:38 AM) I really really really really hate to say this but Flowers and CERA just might be something to it. Flowers is an adequate catcher in today's major league baseball. Very few catchers can hit a lick. He has been much worse this year, admittedly. His homer numbers are down.
  15. Everybody who pays attention to my posts knows I hate this team, but does it seem like a much worse team that its record to you? How is this team not 14 under .500 like cincy?
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) The White Sox went with the middle ground - trying to compete without giving up their best long-term assets, but while sacrificing some depth and money. In the process they utterly failed. The end result is they have absolutely moved closer to wasting Sale and Abreu's best seasons, because they just wasted one of them at the very least. That's what you said the risk was of slowly trying to develop assets, and they did exactly that while trying to find "near future" assets. I think that's a very strong message from 2015. They spent a lot of assets on this season, got incredibly lucky with health, like unbelievably lucky with the health of their lineup, and they've barely improved from 2014. They have absolutely increased the chances of wasting their best years because they just wasted one. Good post. I agree. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 10:17 PM) They still have Robertson/Melky/Duke locked up for '16 and '17 and Robertson for '18. I don't think it is fair to write these assets off as useless because the team will not win this year. And yet you are, and have been, for the last several months. Duke is just another guy and he's trending downward IMO. He's a waste. Melky isn't totally worthless but he has no power and we need power at that position in the Cell. He's pretty ordinary at best. Robertson is a wasted commodity. He has great stuff but our team isn't a contender and doesn't need him. Sox have a ton of holes to even get to be a .500 team.
  17. Amazing how tough it is to be a baseball player. Gillaspie went from last year appearing to be a guy who might last a while to a guy who now is done. He has no real upside. He is a lousy fielder and a fair to lousy hitter with no speed. Beckham also is done and it's time for the Sox to let him go.
  18. Hopefully Kenny will take the job. He and everybody hit magic that one year which unfortunately played out to be a fluke. It was a glorious fluke but a fluke. KW needs to go.
  19. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 05:28 AM) Troll. Why? Give me reasons? Because I like Johnny Fricking Danks?? Do you know how long I've been a White sox fan? Long time.
  20. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 04:49 AM) If Danks didn't give up the two bombs early in the first f***ing inning, his outing was good. His outing was good. He gave up four runs and pitched well. Does anybody agree with Greg that Danks had a good outing, because he did? What are you guys expecting? Just because the offense can't score 4 runs. I consider 3-4 runs in eight innings a good outing from a pitcher pretty much. A great outing would be 2 runs, maybe even some nights 3. I'm a little surprised nobody has forcefully jumped on the Danks bandwagon to support my positions. It grows a little old that a lot of people think he's trash when he's been OK to good this year overall. p.s. Just cause I like Danks doesn't mean I'm a troll. Fans have their favorite players for whatever reason. I could go through it again but I think everybody knows why I like Danks. A lot of posters are out there in support BTW. El Rockin always is praising guys. I like Danks; so shoot me.
  21. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 04:37 AM) So giving up 5 runs but going deep is good? You're officially bonkers greg. That one run was unearned. Danks had another good outing. Four runs should be enough to at least force extra innings. Except this team can't hit. But Steverson gets a free pass; Robin gets a free pass and people blame guys like the gritty Danks. Danks is good IMO.
  22. Tough break for the sox having to play the Angels right after sweeping them at home. No way they were going to repeat that with this lousy team. Have u noticed Sox quietly have been horsecrap on the road since that 7-1 trip? Totally pathetic.
  23. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 19, 2015 -> 04:14 AM) No greg, Danks pitched like s***. He settled down but did not do well at all. LOL. Did not do well at all? Didn't he pitch into the 8th? He's the least of this team's problems. This team blows and he's been a pleasant surprise.
  24. Not to be a broken record, but another good performance by Danks. Do any of you use mlb.com?? How in the f*** can they run the same f***ing commercials over and over every half inning? It literally is driving me crazy hearing the accent of that race driver; then the Sox highlight reel with Hawk's calls. How can mlb.com advertisers think it's an effective strategy making you listen to the same f***ing commercial up to 20 times a night???
  25. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 17, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) That's not even close to correct. Most of the GOP candidates are simply not known by the masses. They elicit neither a strong positive nor negative reaction. Trump has name recognition, which has resulted in the most early GOP support, but he's also one of the most hated. Somebody quoted him as recently saying Heidi Klum is not a 10 anymore. No women are gonna vote for Trump. He's doomed; Hilly in a landslide.
