I'd let Robertson pitch this inning and go for it. If we don't score in the bottom of the ninth we deserve to lose at home again.
-
Amazing how many bad relievers the Sox have had the last several seasons. Can somebody make a list of all our bad relievers and rank them lousy to pathetic?
-
Sox in a big-time funk at home. Will have to get off the mat a third time. Somebody's gotta be a hero again.
-
Duke a big-time goat on that pitch. meat to Sizemore.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 02:45 AM) But that double tho... Big double, though. He turned his night around for the better. I do think he's an easy guy to root for. He seems to care deeply. He's just challenged on defense and has an horrific approach at the plate like a lot of hitters who don't draw walks.
-
Can't believe he didn't let that hit him in the leg to get on base.
-
I guess I'm wrong again! Avi baby comes through and shows he's not done. And Sanchez is still hitting after all! Big game. Let's win it.
-
Nice job Petricka. My guess is we either score this inning or lose. But we're still in this game because of that strikeout. A hit there and it woulda been OVA.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 02:11 AM) Wow this defense sucks tonight. Avi has no business playing Avi figures to get the 2 day off LaRoche treatment after this one. He should get 2 months off though, playing in the minors. Pretty lousy of Detroit to rush a guy with tools. His career is OVA or at least in the Viciedo stages after this effort tonite.
-
Funny to see those fans immediately interfere with the ball on Longoria's hit. They need to eject all fans for their foolishness on such plays. You get seats in the front row you gotta use your head. In a big game you do that and become a Bartman forever.
-
Cmon, White Sox. This is a big game! (Or is it?)
-
Glad to see Tyler stroke a base hit like the good ol days. There's the home run! That was exciting!

QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 02:34 AM) What kind of s*** throw was that? Is his arm THAT bad? That was a throw worse than any American Legion all-star would make. WTF? QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 02:46 AM) Send him back to the f***ing minors already. He needs to learn atleast one of the f***ing spectrum. He's useless. Again, our scouts suck. Couldn't they opine to our GM Hahn or Kenny their view that he's hopeless and needs to be sent down? I do like Avi the person, he seems like he cares, but Detroit obviously rushed him. He's a sad failure. Maybe not too late. A full year in the minors next year to go with seven weeks this season might help. Send him down. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 02:48 AM) Going against some awful pitching got people''s hopes up too much. I admit I was wrong AGAIN. I thought we'd stay hot and steal a playoff berth. BTW our hitting coach should be fired again, lol. Now our hitting sucks balls again and guys like Saladino, Sanchez, Lexi, are automatic outs when they were hot a little while ago.
-
Congrats to those of you who knew our 7-1 road trip was meaningless. I thought it was huge at the time. I wrong AGAIN this season of being wrong. This is the kind of game our lack of home run hitting is a killer. Sox fall behind and don't have the bombers who can connect on a pair of solo homers to tie it like the old days. Now that Saladino has cooled off and Sanchez is cooled off we ain't so special again.
-
Hey, we stink again. Defense leads to a run off Q. Cmon scorer, call that a f***ing error on Avi. Avi seems like a guy who tries hard, unfortunately he's not a big leaguer. Sad. Send him down to try to reinvent himself. Maybe Detroit rushed him to begin with. He's a sad story. Seemed like a guy with some tools. He's officially a bust.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 11:04 PM) Rubio has gone too far to the right because of the Tea Party...the most inspirational/charismatic, would bring in Hispanics, etc. Christie is perceived as being too friendly with Obama and moderate/centrist, which means he would be a great general election candidate but no chance to survive the current nomination process. Paul and his father are too far out there for mainstream Republicans. Jindal doomed himself a long time ago and his LA record won't stand up under scrutiny. Everyone's arguing that Bush (by simply being reasonable and articulate) has been helped the most by Trump...and I've never met a single person who wanted Cruz to actually be president. In the end, would want Walker because that's the classic argument of these times....labor unions vs. outsourcing, DC vs. states' right, the protection of the 1% (Koch, etc.) and corporations to the disadvantage of the middle class and poor, wealth gap widening, rejection of Federal Aid at the cost to weakest and most vulnerable and implicit desire to push those people out of state. Cruz is the only one with a shot vs. Hilly though. Cruz must emerge and I think he will.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Because he's one of the few who didn't actively slam Trump, positioning himself to pick off his supporters? It's kind of funny how that finances thing does, they're actively using the fact that Marco Rubio had a history of money problems (loans again) and some bad investments for most of his life before the Senate and was still in the process of paying off loans or had just recently done so. So that's being used (in an attempt) to disqualify him from office because of personal financial management... I don't think that line of attack on a woman in a Presidential race is going to gain any traction because those who don't like her weren't going to vote for her anyway, and the middle/undecideds/moderates/independents (and there won't be as many in this polarizing environment) aren't going to be easily convinced of that argument because it will be cast as part of the "right wing conspiracy" media out to get the Clintons. They're Teflon like that, usually. https://www.yahoo.com/politics/some-democra...5613677451.html This will make Greg happy...Joe Biden (also in his 70's) at least 50/50 about running, definitely will jump in if her favorability numbers stay in the 50's. Won't the Demos be mad if Biden runs? Like he's taking the thunder from Ms. Congenality; Ms. Entitlement (forgive me for being bitter about Hilly; I just don't want somebody that rich to be President when we are all so poor as a country).

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 04:01 AM) Anything about...CONCUSSIONS?!?! Forgive me. Didn't understand the joke. I can be slow.

Awesome. Is Pods a good announcer? He was a good player.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 07:06 PM) They need to get Saladino out of the 2nd spot, as he's not doing much of anything over the last 10 days offensively. Great post! Robin is in love with the new guy who is obviously laboring. Put him eighth or ninth. And give him a fricking day off or 2 a week. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 07:12 PM) New drinking game: take a shot every time Hawk says Kansas City Special What is up with his Kansas City special? He does say it way too much. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) Sure glad he threw those 15-20 or so pointless pitches last game out. Great post! Those things are noticeable. Good job, fathom. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) Shocker, benches empty in Toronto/KC game. Volquez acting like a psycho yet again. KC has had problems with Sox, Indians, A's, Blue Jays. They are too cocky. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) Hopefully LaRoche can pitch 2 out of 3 days Nice post. Why didn't Leury pitch today?? QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) Between last night with DJ on the radio and Stone right there on TV, the Sox announcers are being openly critical of Avi's approach at the plate. How can he expect to excel all hunched over like he is. He needs to be sent down and re-invent his offensive game (oops I've said that bout Viciedo). Seriously flip flop them for 2 weeks. Viciedo in bigs; Avi in smalls. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 08:27 PM) They should. It sucks. And it's on the coaching staff for not getting his approach right. His approach blows. Good post.
-
He's no savior but we need to pick him up. Saladino is already wearing out. Batting ave. plummetting. Don't get me wrong, I love Saladino but he's overworked, especially in the 2 hole. We need Valencia even though he's nothing special.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) If you want ace money then act like one. He's the new Javier Vasquez. Great post! I will say he'd been on a pretty good roll of late before today, but ... -

Today's outing alone makes Shark a risky guy to sign at 20 mill a season. I mean what GM is going to pay a guy 20 million who is capable of today's implosion?? No offense to Shark. He's had some really good games. But unless owners don't mind throwing 20 mill a year at average to slightly above average pitchers ... he's really a poor guy to sign. Maybe San Diego will sign him then try to dump him in late May. You guys all disagree with my rants against salaries, but cmon. It's generally believed Shark will get 20 mill a year for 4-5 years or more. How in the hell is he worth that??? If I were a GM, I'd go with my young pitchers at reasonable salaries (like Sales), then when they are free agents, let them all go. Then I'd try to sign your 9-10 mill a year guys for 2 years to go with my young affordable stars (pre free agency) and hope the bargain basement guys come through (Guthrie types). Tough way to run a team, sure, but you just cant throw that kind of money at arms that can explode at any time! -

Small market teams like the White Sox have no business signing pitchers to contracts that average out to over 20 million a year. It's just stupid. They will get hurt or will get rocked at some point and won't be worth the dough. If they were willing to spend 200 million or more per season on contracts, fine. But not in the current climate of small market teams. -
There's no choice. You have to play him cause of money. No teams bench these guys making 10-20 mill a year. The mistake is made in acquiring them. Managers have to play guys making that kind of jack.
