Jared Fogle/Subway scandal...presumption of guilt?
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Filibuster
Crazy case. Just wait to see how it plays out. The one thing I read was really creepy. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:04 AM) Christopher Kamka @ckamka 2h2 hours ago John Danks this season in 6 starts vs teams currently in first place: 1.85 ERA in 39.0 IP Apologies to Greg from the majority? I've been quoting stats like these and getting ripped mercilessly. Go Sox!

QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:58 AM) One thing about Tank is that he never bought into trying to make the adjustments that the White Sox wanted him to make. Maybe he will be more amenable to making those adjustments now that he has a second chance. You'd think this would humble him as Beckham was humbled going to the Angels last year. However, Gordon's performance with the Sox shows again, it's not all mental. Beckham just doesn't have what it takes to hit in the bigs. Dayan may get one more chance to actually have a clue at the plate. Certainly he's been humbled. If he's not, he's hopeless upstairs. I mean he's moved around a bit since Sox let him go. He's actually a more valuable hitter than Avi as it turns out. Viciedo is good for 20 homers a year at least, to go with all the Ks. Avi appears to be a .260ish hitter with no home run pop and not a whole lot of ribbies.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:30 AM) He's boom or bust it seems. When he's on I'll give him credit, when he sucks he deserves it. I'm the same for every player. Nice. I despised Melky signing and despised him as a player, but I'll give him his due, now. He's been the No. 1 reason for the resurgence, along with defense, of course. If the team had infield defense like this the first two months and change, I think the Sox would be firmly in front for the wild card.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:50 AM) Greg, I'm with you on this one. Johnny takes a lot of s*** for his contract...which I suppose is part of being a professional athlete. But he sure does seem to get underwhelming support for all the times he does pitch well. At least 4-5 posters joined me in praising him tonight. I don't know why he's so unpopular. He's like Mark Buehrle. He gets the ball and fires it, doesn't mess around. You can tell he's a competitor. Everything you should want in a baseball player. And somebody else said he's a great guy.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:45 AM) Very good pitcher How come you guys can't love a pitcher who obviously is making a steady comeback from injury? I'm thinking a lot of you guys dislike him cause of his contract. I'll say it for the 90th time. It's not his fault the Sox paid him that much. And it's not like he's loafed at all coming back. He's a real ballplayer IMO.

QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:29 AM) Greg is good at the eye test....yeah ok buddy. Go have a few more bud lights and take it easy. Bud gives me a headache. Look it up. It gives headaches to something like 10 percent of the population. So I can only drink the Miller family of beers or exotic beers. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 02:31 AM) Make sure you post when he gets rocked. I always do. Nice hit LEXI!
-
Nice to see the Danks support! I like it. Soon, someday you all will be joining me on the Danks bandwagon. Believe me, Greg is good at the eye test. The eye test tells me Danks is a very good pitcher still coming back from the injury. I love the way he competes. I love the way he works fast. I love JOHN DANKS!
-
Not trying to rub it in or be a dick, but how bout giving Mr. Eight Strikeouts Danks his due tonight? Join me in cheering on my guy, JOHN DANKS!!! And nice play Sanchez!

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) doing nothing was the worst thing the sox could've done and of course that's what they did hilarious. abysmal group of guys running this franchise It's kind of odd they didn't deal Shark a few weeks ago when things were looking bleak. They probably could have gotten 3 good prospects and pray EJ would be a suitable replacement. Waiting until the final week before the trading deadling IMO is not a good idea but teams do that every year. They should pick up Valencia now and bring up Viciedo and see if two V's equal lots of Ws. Just do it.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 07:37 PM) LOL. That's quite a strawman right there. If Chris Sale wasn't an established pitcher, only pitched 30 total innings in the minors, has serious control issues, and is only a 2 pitcher starting pitcher, then yea I'd say send him down, otherwise it's a totally different deal. Yea sure, Sale was a quick riser too, but he got a chance to work on his stuff in the pen for 2 years, and he should be the exception, not the rule. Carlos has been struggling for a while now, it isn't just one bad game last night. 4 out of his past 6 starts were pretty bad outings. I'd say it's time to bail him out and let him develop a bit more in the minors. Rodon looks like an average prospect at best right now. To be honest, he's resembling Danks. About 50 percent of his outings are good, the rest are lousy. This year is a rebuilding year so he's learning on the job in the bigs. On paper, the Sox rotation has to be the best in baseball. It's just inconsistent sometimes. Rodon has been nasty nasty at times but also has been horrific.

Well I said Hilly will win in a landslide. Putting up the cattle rope to combat reporters at her rallies won't help her image w media tho

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) That guy he struck out was pissed. True, but that guy also was smiling during the at bat a lot. He looked flustered that the fastball got him for strike three.

No brainer to add him now and dump Beckham.

Somebody needs to do a pattern on the season. The Sox appear to be awfully streaky to me. Losing 3 in a row and falling four under .500 again would pretty much signal white flag time considering Toronto, the O's, the Rangers and even the Twins (playing Cleveland 13 more times) would appear to be way better teams than Chicago. The "why not us?" mentality that one of the beat writers suggested was the team motto the second half will be silly if the team loses today and makes it 3 in a row after the 7 game win streak. Like you said it really is a must win. Time to give up again if they lose tonight.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 11:06 PM) Nowhere is the value of a 1st round pick less, then in baseball. The value of winning, because, dare I say it, your players are doing good, is so much better then the difference in the #5 pick of the #12 pick. The one exception is if you are winning because of 3 or 4 guys, all of which are going to be gone with no compensation at the end of the season. I agree. The Sox are just going to draft a college pitcher who will turn into a reliever probably. This Sox team keeps creeping to .500 then goes in the tank. That's just wrong. This team is so close to contention it's disappointing to me every time they lose. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 05:10 AM) You do realize that's not exactly a good ratio for a pitcher? Thing is, he's still making a comeback from injury. You guys disagree, but the eye test tells me his stuff is improving. Now, the consistency is still off. Maybe he should have pitched in the minors all year. I agree five out of 10 is not great, but it's OK for a No. 5. The Danks hatred bothers me. Because 1.) he isn't to blame for his contract. Somebody offered it to him. 2.) The GM could demand he pitch a year in the minors to get his effectiveness all the way back following serious surgery. He's a No. 5 starter and doing OK in that role. Rodon has been equally inconsistent and he's No. 4. I think the reasons people hate on Danks are wrong.

Six runs and Sox lose. That's never a good sign.
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 05:08 AM) No he's bad. Those things called stats show that plus the eye test. He's batting practice. I'm sure we'll get a nice display tomorrow. Then how do u explain 5 good outings in 10 tries? That's actually better than Rodon.
-
LaRoche is hot with four hits. Too bad Rodon was trash. Our pitching let us down tonight and now a losing streak has begun. Can they halt the streak this weekend before it gets ridiculous again?
-
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 05:02 AM) Avi is so lost. It's sad to see how much he's fallen. Is it our coaching? Something causes top prospects to suck.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 04:56 AM) Yeah, this was good but I definitely wouldn't call it the #1 highlight of the season. His highlight for sure. I forgot his dad was LaLob. LaRoche threw two LaLobs up there. Hope the beat writers remember that. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 05:00 AM) Maybe Adam can pitch for Danks instead. Maybe we can have Danks DH Danks isn't that bad. You know u are jinxing him tomorrow cause I love him. He's had 5 good outings in his last 10. Not bad.
-
He was great. Funny and sad that the No. 1 highlight of his season so far is that. That last pitch was amazing.
-
Damn I have mixed emotions. Sox are laughingstocks of the league tonight in letting LaRoche pitch. But it is funny.
