  1. Sox predictably have been horses*** since the Yankee disaster. Offense needs to wake up.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) Q has to be one of the worst in baseball this year at allowing 2 out runs The governor sounded like he wanted to rip DeAza when he told him to run for that weak pop up.
  3. Allow me to vent. If he trades Beckham he better do a better job than the Addison Reed trade. Davidson appears to be a bust. Reed has 14 saves!!! It's like the Sox don't want to contend. How do you trade your only closer for Matt Davidson?? Ridiculous. The Sox would be in SO MUCH better shape right now; Hahn would be looking like a miracle worker right now if we had Reed. The Sox bullpen would be light years better just with a solid closer like Reed. If you trade Beckham, make it a good one, Hahn. Cause that Davidson trade totally pisses me off right now!! Bella trying to close out the Yankees two days ago was laughable. Sox should have won three of four vs. New York. Instead ...
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 15, 2014 -> 06:50 PM) Wrigley Field is in a more crime-ridden area than USCF. Yet people instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. Is that true? Is Wrigley a gang area or something?
  5. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ May 25, 2014 -> 09:08 PM) if you actually believe that, you are in for a long summer. 3 in a row vs. New York with Detroit horrible this week wouldn't have been huge?
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2014 -> 09:36 PM) Well, the Tigers aren't doing much better this week. 1-6, Verlander got absolutely rocked twice (Rangers today, Indians earlier in the sweep) and Scherzer once. Not that it matters so much this year (Verlander going downhill), but it hopefully will over the next 2-3 seasons. It would have been a nice weekend to take 3 of 4 from Yanks with Detroit finally sucking. But nooooo ... thanks bullpen. Can you imagine if Danks would have been allowed to throw 120 pitches and shut out NY 3-0. We would have had nothing to lose in going for the sweep today.
  7. QUOTE (flavum @ May 25, 2014 -> 09:44 PM) Yunel Escobar stole 3rd. You could read AJ's lips-- "Up 5 in the 7th?" Escobar challeged the Boston dugout, Gomes came in from LF, and it was your run of the mill baseball "fight". Escobar was a b**** about it. I love AJ but if the Sox were leading by five I would hope the team would want more with this AAA bullpen. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) With the White Sox bullpen, that would hardly be a guarantee. Exactly.
  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 25, 2014 -> 07:53 PM) Most Sox fans at game are saying I paid to see this. That is it for 2014. Soriano another hit. Yesterday's game was so huge you'd think Coop would have demanded to get Bella the hell out of that game. Although Downs would have blown it too I'm sure.
  9. We should have mailed in the score and just took the day off today after yesterday's game. Sad a huge crowd has to watch this crap. Cleveland is damn good now. This could be a repeat of last year. Robin should have turned over the food table after last night's game. Thanks, Bella.
  10. Is Tank in another of those stretches where he never walks? My guess is he is and that's not good for the batting average.
  11. Why are the Sox wearing those uniforms two days in a row? They should be burned after yesterday's disaster or at least forgotten for a while.
  12. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 24, 2014 -> 09:10 PM) The game should never f***ing end on a close fastball that you take. A breaking pitch that barely touches the zone, fine. But it's a god damn fastball, you can't take a close fastball. I do agree, Chili.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 24, 2014 -> 09:09 PM) Dave Martinez is still available for hire. I, along with many others, thought he should have been hired in 2012 instead of Robin. No chance of canning him. With all our injuries and this pathetic bullpen, the Sox would be laughingstock of baseball to can the manager. On paper, he's actually a candidate for manager of the year (and no I don't think he's any good).
  14. I don't think Beckham was fooled. He was just that f***ing DUMB to take strike three, complaining about the call. You've got to swing, Gordon, maybe get lucky. Horrible loss. Thanks, Bella for a fine outing.
  15. Hopefully Eaton wakes up this lethargic team (today). Nice hit.
  16. We know two things. ... We have a horrible manager and the ceiling of this team is .500. They've overachieved big time with all the injuries and the worst bullpen in ages.
  17. Worthless DeAza HAS TO get on base here.
  18. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 24, 2014 -> 08:51 PM) Most Managers don't like to take out the closer in the middle of the 9th. They must think it will embarrass him. Hurt his pride. That's just the way the game has evolved. The current book on managing must say something like you gotta leave him in to finish, otherwise his physce will be damaged and it will hurt the team in future closing situations. Don't play for today's win, play for the big picture. When the Mgr. goes counter to this, like in Atlanta recently when they took Kimbrel out with game on the line, Kimbrel threw a hissy fit, as if to say the Mgr. can't do that. At least the Atlanta skipper had the balls to stand up to his star closer; Robin did not have the balls to remove Belasario. I'm exaggerating. of course, but not much. I forgot about that unwritten rule, probly cause I don't consider Bella a closer.
  19. Any way in hell we can win this series now?
  20. Horrible bullpen. .500 is the upside for this team. Hopefully we can go .500.
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 24, 2014 -> 08:38 PM) It's because Downs is probably just as bad. Also not sure why he didn't pitch around McCann, considering Brendan Ryan was on deck. Downs is actually worse. He probably would have walked him and we'd had brought in another guy.
  22. Hopefully Coop made the call on Bella. He'll find out it ain't so easy to manage. Fail Coop.
  23. We really needed that fourth run. A 3 run lead with no closer against a good team ... we saw what happened. 3 runs.
  24. We better get another dramatic walk off because this kind of loss is really really bad when you are trying to emerge as a solid .500 team.
