QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 29, 2014 -> 05:07 PM) I'm still waiting on what law we are missing that would have prevented this. Here's a change I'd make: no media coverage of the killer. Cover the shooting but never make the name, photo or background info of the shooter available, unless he/she is eventually charged and it comes from the trial. When it's a murder suicide, treat it as a suicide. I'd bet a lot of these assholes do this stuff for the attention. I don't know about the media thing. It's easy to say this, but we need to know who did the shootings/bombings. We need to be informed about who is on the loose or who enacted the damage. Tone it back? Sure. Just as we learn very little about the victims, we shouldn't have to hear the life story of the killers over and over. But we need to know who did it and why they did it.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2014 -> 03:31 AM) In fact, one of them was accused of stealing $22 worth of candles (from Rodger). The killer actually called the police and made a citizen's arrest and the police backed it up when they found the candles on his roommate's bed (I wouldn't doubt he planted them there). This incident wasn't even mentioned in the manifesto, curiously. He actually wasn't threatened very much by these last Asian roommates because they were geeky and nerdy and socially-akward like him. The only threat they really posed was getting in the way of his collecting all of the bodies after he'd flayed them and decapitated them in his apartment building before he took off in his car and tossed all the heads out of the window of his car in the middle of the downtown Isla Vista part of the rampage...he did at least attempt to run over 4 people, but luckily wasn't able to plow into a multitude. And, if nothing else good comes out of this, all of those women he named (and especially the girls at that sorority house) might pause and think about how everyone treats each other...yes, he was surely crazy and narcissistic (thinking he could will himself a megamillions lottery win). As for Greg's point about going to a prostitute, he did have a counselor towards the end (Sasha?) he actually enjoyed spending time with, but felt guilty about the idea of enjoying her company simply because she was paid to listen to him. He was too proud to pay for sex, even though he wanted to win over all those beautiful blonde girls with stacks of money and immense beach mansion. I forgot about the beheadings he had planned. Again, I wonder why he changed course. He killed the roommates, then he was going to get people to come in his apartment and torture them and behead them and save all the heads to dump in the street. So his plans changed as far as killing his brother/stepmom and killing many people and saving their heads to dump in the street and horrify people before killing them. Hate to say I'm just glad he killed himself after his rampage.

The Royals just got swept by Houston and fans are again calling for Ned's proverbial head. If somehow Toronto was to take all 4 vs. KC I wonder if they'd finally fire Ned. It'd be pretty embarrassing for them to fire another hitting coach. Last year, the return of George Brett to the dugout sparked KC sort of. This year, what move will the Royals make to appease the fanbase? I wonder if Ned will get the axe. KC cannot hit and Butler has been kind of ornery, complaining about Ned not letting him play in an NL park a couple weeks ago when he was red-hot and getting in the face of the first base coach last week.

Always nice to sweep a team like Cleveland. The last couple years of Ozzie and under Robin (except the first year) we've not swept many teams. It seems like this team has had a much better season than one over .500. That would be amazing if somehow we got red red hot and won 9 of 10 and got a healthy number of games over .500. I don't expect that but I can dream. Nice job in bottom of ninth all around. Good job, hitters.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2014 -> 04:02 AM) Sierra 12/44 (.273), 1 HR, 4 RBI's (GW), OPS a notch below 700 That's a lot better than DeAza has produced, at least. I'm all for playing Sierra even if he ultimately fails. The DeAza ship has sailed for me. ... Semien's at bat again proves he's a major leaguer. He has his flaws for sure, but he's not a minor leaguer anymore. He belongs in the bigs and should sink or swim in the big show rather than be sent down ever again.

I used to get a delicious medium cup of hot coffee with cream and sugar every day across the street from work. I also had several diet cokes a day or Coke Zero's. I decided to stop drinking both products about 5 weeks ago and haven't had a coffee or soft drink in 5 weeks. I am starting to miss the coffee. My question to you is ... a.) Now that I've given it up, should I continue to not drink coffee? I'm over the Coke thing. I drink juice and iced tea and water. b.) Is coffee with cream and a good mixture of sugar fattening? c.) Is coffee evil or not? Thank you for your answers!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 28, 2014 -> 10:29 PM) I dunno, he was all sorts of f***ed up. But the core of his ideology was the deep misogyny, and his racial and wealth issues seemed to be tied up with that as well. I agree with you mostly. Thing is in a 140-page manifesto, which I read, there was plenty of prejudice of all kinds of people to go around. I'd like to know what happened with his original plan of first going to kill stepmom and brother. I'm thinking it may have been as simple as the moron didn't want to make the drive to their town to get it started. Just went with the roommates first. Who knows? And the poor roommates. I didn't quite understand why they all were living together. It wasn't a dorm. It sounds like the killer didn't want roommates. He had money; why didn't he live alone somewhere? Weird. These 3 roommates happen to be living with a f***ing loser moron and their lives are cut so short because of that.

That on-field announcer is pretty good. She asks good questions. This is great we can beat teams in the Central this year.
-
That was a professional at bat, Sierra. Way to go. I think he deserves to play over DeAza the next 4 weeks or so. Give him a chance. That was a big win after letting 'em tie it in the ninth.
-
Ugh. 3-2 count now. Hit da ball deep enough please.
-
Thank goodness Marcus hit it just deep enough. Now it's wild pitch time or balk time, baby.
-
Do we bunt him to third now? Or grounder to second?
-
Don't let us down, Marcus. Easy bunt.
-
Yes! Oh boy, it's bunt time.
-
I can't believe you guys are blaming Robin and not Dunn. Most Little Leaguers can make that throw.
-
All Dunn had to do was take a breath and throw the f***ing ball to second base. The runner had conceded for gawd sakes and was gonna be in a rundown. AWFUL Adam. We need a walkoff now or we lose in extras.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 29, 2014 -> 02:43 AM) I don't know who to blame, Dunn, Robin, or Belisario I would blame Dunn for sure. It woulda been nobody on base, two out. We let them off the hook. This was a gift sweep. Thanks Adam. What a HORRIBLE throw.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2014 -> 02:42 AM) Way to go Robin, you idiot. I can't believe they walked the guy hitting .136 on the year. Once again, this team deserves so much better than the manager provides. But would Giambi have launched one? Bella didn't exactly have great stuff out there.
-
Maybe Giambi woulda popped up. We'll never know.
-
That's on Dunn, but still Bella could have got the final out. That was a hard hit single.
-
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 29, 2014 -> 02:38 AM) Watching a movie what happened? Dunn fielded the one hopper, stepped on first then airlifted the throw into leftfield. The runner had conceded. He was gonna get caught in a rundown.
-
Interesting to put the lead run on first but whatever. Just get the next out, Bella.
-
2 out. Bella looking fairly good. But this guy has homered already.
-
That was a gift double play. But nooo. One out one on.
-
WTF Adam?
