  1. Is Kepp good field no hit or are we hopeful he can hit .285 still?
  2. Our bats are pretty dormant. Time to hit some ropes instead of home runs. How bout some gappers and regular-ol singles? Not that I'd turn down a Flowers bomb.
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 09:22 PM) Lucky to win 2 out of 3 games scoring 1 run in 2 games, I will take it. Me too. I was thinking today the Sale game coulda gone the other way. That was a huge win over Shields. I'll definitely be happy with 2 out of 3 vs. KC. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 10:03 PM) Guthrie doesn't have a great track record, but let's not act like it's Bruce Chen out there. He was regularly hitting 95 with his heater today and has a nice breaking ball too. He is developing a reputation as a Sox killer though. I thought it was a great series but it is kind of scary about how it appears once again things will be dandy when our boys hit 2-4 home runs per game; not so great when they don't. I hope Kep turns into a singles and bases on balls machine before long. We need baserunners.
  4. I wonder if the Sox can start putting bat on ball vs. Guthrie as KC did finally vs. Gavin.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 08:15 PM) Keppinger is a career .268/.320/.357/.678 against RHP. He murders lefties to the tune of .333/.376/.487/.864. Expecting Keppinger to hit well against RHP when he has not done so in the past is insanity. He'll hit better than this, but you don't expect him to be a stud. It'd be nice to have a lefty bat to spell him once in a while. Like a Teahen type who is actually good. Who will be Keppinger's sub this year? I like his defense.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 05:19 PM) I dont think it matters today. second game after a day off, i dont think a sunday lineup is really necessary Like you said, why would anybody need rest considering the day off?
  7. QUOTE (Andrew @ Apr 4, 2013 -> 07:16 AM) Why are y'all sucking each other off... Scored 6 runs in 2 games. 11 hits total - almost 1/2 the hits were HRs (mind you - two games at home), and I think only 1 carried a run beside the hitter.... That's not even close to perfection. Two wins at home vs. Royals.....let's not be retards about it. Ugh. Why the offensive word?
  8. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 09:23 PM) I love game threads. 5-2 victories sound like 9-1 defeats So far I am keeping my calm as planned this season. No expectations equal happiness when we win. Nice pitching so far by bullpen and starters. Some outfield errors today, but some good plays as well.
  9. That last play proves what a bulldog Peavy is. Man, he cares. Glad he re-signed with the Sox.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 08:26 PM) Gordon was standing on the wall...WTF? Dayan is probably too chubby to do that, but Gordon actually would rob plenty of home runs if he was our leftfielder.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 08:24 PM) Radio call wasn't any better... The Royals announcer, Ryan Lefevre, actually did a good job on it. I am starting to think Lefevre is actually a great replacement for Hawk when he retires. He's not bad, folks.
  12. Thank goodness Gordon didn't catch that. Woulda been horrible on so many counts! How in the heck did the one poster know we'd hit so many HRs today?
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 08:02 PM) Another 89 MPH fastball right down the pipe. I always wondered. Is it down the pike or down the pipe?
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 07:57 PM) He needs someone to kick him in the rear. Bad play by Viciedo That first at bat he had was pretty feeble. All's good though. Tyler Flowers with a bomb.
  15. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) I wouldn't have as big a problem with Hawk if he had anything new to say in the last 15-20 years. At this point he's an old timey record stuck in repeat combined with a morning radio instant replay machine. The only time he was (and is on occasion now) tolerable is when Wimpy is with him. I challenge your first statement. Baseball is such a weird game with unique stuff happening he has to be saying "new" things all the time. Do you mean his catchphrases? I tuned the sound down on the Royals announcers yesterday until I thought how stupid that was and I decided to listen to them. Ryan Lefevre (sp) isn't too bad actually. But Hudler was annoying me. The radio crew of Steve Physioc (horrible) and Denny Matthews (he's ok) is also mixed.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) Honestly, message boards are dinosaurs anymore. Most discussion has gone to facebook and twitter. It has nothing to do with catch-all threads. I think the value of a message board is I don't know anybody but I assume they know the White Sox better than me. So it's of great value to read what they think about the Sox and see what they think of my statements about the Sox. Putting it on Facebook would be weird. I'd be just throwing out an opinion on the Sox and have people I know feel compelled to comment.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 01:23 AM) Tell me about it. 5 innings into the season and I was ready to put the game on mute. I still can't believe the Sox have let him stick around so long. I had to listen to Rex Hudler today on the Royals' broadcast and he's a total homer and has a terrible voice. Hawk is a total homer but he also criticizes the Sox enough when they deserve it. Also KC radio man Steve Physioc is so bad it's laughable. He enunciates too much and talks to "you the fan" way too much. He'll say, "Fans .... leading off this inning is Lorenzo Cain."
  18. So many heroes in a 1-0 game. Sale Flowers Good defense from guys like Kepp, Beckham. Thornton, Reed. Nice game from Rios, Lexi. I'll even give Lexi credit for getting the final out on that slow roller. Bottom line is it's nice to win a pitcher's duel. Our guy gets the W; Shields gets the loss; coulda gone either way, but SOX WIN!
  19. Awesome win! Royals hit the s*** out the ball during the spring which again proves nothing. Let's take 'em one at a time. Try to win again in the next one. Nice job Sale and all the relievers and defense.
  20. Strike out ... GOOD! Stolen base ... BAD. One more out needed pls.
  21. Does Reed look a little like Brian Anderson facially? Cmon. We need a pop up here. Or 4-6-3.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 10:39 PM) We need Paulie and Dunn to do something so we can actually score runs. You can't have your 4-5 hitters go an empty 0-8. Yeah, but it's all good if our pitching and defense has one more great inning in them. It's a damn cold day. 1-0 is not unexpected if that is the final.
  23. I remember the old days when I hated Rios. I hate him no longer. Had great year last year. Good glove should help this pitching/defensive oriented team this year. Maybe he's fallen in love with Chicago and being a White Sox.
