  1. Is it too hard to get a run to tie this thing AT HOME against s***ty Cleveland? Geez, get some walks, hits, (1-2) runs please!
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 02:44 AM) I want back the manager (Ventura) that was anything but that for the first 4 months or so of last season. Austin Powers needs to use a time machine to go back and find Ventura's managerial mojo. He turned into a guy who played the pitching matchups batter by batter way too early in games. It's seems he's stopped doing that of late, thank God, but I haven't been paying that close of attention. Now that Coop is healthy, I hope he makes all the pitching decisions. Maybe he does.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 02:44 AM) He's making $5.5 million to be the "non-closer" still. Do you really think it's going to matter to fine him $1000? It will just make the attitude in the clubhouse even worse at this point. They need someone like Kirk Gibson or Bo Porter and to add a lot more youth into that line-up. Thornton/Crain/Lindstrom will have value somewhere else, maybe you can just dump Thornton's salary or eat part of it and just start over with the back end of the bullpen. I just find it amazing he chucked that pickoff attempt into center field and promptly (after one strike out) gave up a base hit to likely end the game.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 02:41 AM) They're going to have to start PAYING people to come to the games and fill in the seats to prevent being embarrassed. Like when public housing authorities would board up windows in abandoned buildings and paint flowerpots over them to make the appearance more cheerful, lol. Caufield you are funny (in a good way). You write about attendance as much as I used to write about Jenks, Ozzie and Dye.
  5. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 02:39 AM) You know stone poney I don't like this losing one bit. Now that we are losing I am going to keep quiet and when I talk I will sound grumpy. Hawk That's pretty funny. He does seem like he's doing that. Great post.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 02:33 AM) This team needs an overhaul of talent and attitude. I agree with the attitude thing. Don't like Thornton's demeanor in that appearance. Throwing the ball into centerfield is unacceptable at that stage of the game. That's all mental. He should be fined.
  7. Hawk sounds so flustered with overpaid non-competitor Matt Thornton.
  8. Boy the Sox stink against teams in our own division. Kind of embarrassing to lose to the Twinks and Tribe at home. We need to rally and win this game!! No excuses, Sox. Pull it out.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2013 -> 02:58 AM) The bullpen issues (Lindstrom/Veal/Crain) in Sunday's game wouldn't be so magnified were in not for our putrid offense. Even with the best starting pitching in baseball, we can't win more than 85 games with the offensive issues that are patently obvious up and down the line-up, from 1-9. Yes. The Sox lineup is not outstanding with Beckham and Viciedo in it. Without them, it's got to be one of the weakest lineups any pitcher could hope to face. The only way this lineup is above average is if Paulie and Dunn get red-hot at the same time IMO.

How's the bathrooms for the women? If he's gonna take his wife and daughter, they might not like the long waits for bathroom use if it's like it used to be when I last went to a Cub game. I'd go if you get good seats and only if you get good seats.
  11. I like listening to his postgame comments on mlb.com. He's not a dummy. He just has unreliable veteran players (pitchers).
  12. Left the game tied 2-2 for church; just found out we lost which shows my interest in the team this year, waiting til 9:50 p.m. What an embarrassing loss. Five hits by the Sox offense at home against that crap opponent? Just saw that horrible pitch by Crain whacked to the fence by Willingham. The Sox inability to hit Diamond is equally embarrassing. I mean, I realize anything can happen in baseball, but he was such a soft tosser I imagine most of you Soxtalkers would love to have had a chance to grab a bat against that guy (if you are in your 20s or 30s). Boy the Sox stink at this point in time (cue the injuries comment).
  13. That was bad relief pitching against a bad opponent.
  14. Man the Sox made 3 quick outs there. That half inning took about one minute.
  15. I thought Floyd battled there. He looked like a competitor IMO.
  16. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Cause of the crap that just happend, which happens everytime. Damn nibbling I repeat, though ... what if he's just not that good after five innings? The old cliche he is who he is. I disagree it's all mental. Meanwhile, the Twins have an equally bad pitcher out there.
  17. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 07:43 PM) Pea brain loses it after giving up 2 soft hits... Javy Vazquez part deux Why do you think he's a pea brain. Ever think he's just not that good after the fifth inning? The Sox should be ashamed they haven't hit that soft throwing slug the Twins have on the mound.
  18. Diamond throws as soft as I've ever seen. I'd think a big league hitter would love trying to go 4-for-4 against this guy.
  19. This is not a flame, just a question. Is Walker still in Atlanta and is he beloved there? They got a pretty good team.
  20. Surely many of you just knew Sox were going to strike out and get thrown out at third after they showed the 'run expectancy' thing on the screen and realized Dunn would swing through another pitch from a lefty. Yuk.
  21. That was just bad baseball right there, sorry. Dunn versus a lefty, can't hit the ball and easy out at third. It's like we let them out of that inning on purpose.
  22. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 11:00 PM) He's the worst thing I've ever watched. I've never respected his style of baseball. You gotta be dangerous, and to be dangerous, you have to be able to constantly adjust based on situation. Poor guy I don't like one thing about Robin, I won't rehash my one complaint, but cmon guys, be fair. No manager could do much better than he has with this roster.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 11:40 PM) Yay, keep batting Keppinger 2nd and Dunn 4th. Awful offensive performance, this team is lifeless this season. Keppinger has been horrible since I learned he was a former Royal. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 11:43 PM) I'm sorry, but this is good for the future of the Sox. Keep losing and be forced to make moves in July. I hate posts like that, just because I don't believe the moves the Sox make in July will help the Sox future very much. Konerko for who?? Peavy for who?? DeAza for who? I mean, seriously. Are we going to reap a haul of team's "CAN'T MISS" prospects like Wil Myers for any of these guys? I mean the true difference makers? If somebody gives us 4 minor leaguers for Paulie or Peavy and 2 of the 4 are can't miss starters, I guess that's good. Will Hahn be able to get that, though? I wonder.
  24. Ugh. No bats. If Viciedo is out a month, good luck. Our lineup will be one of the least potent in memory. Does the oblique have anything to do with him being overweight? If so, shame on Dayan. He's too young to be fat and happy if that is the case.
  25. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 02:28 AM) Yes 1-33, 11 K's, 2 BB He even managed to play crappy defense at 1B too. OMG. 1 for 33 with two walks. So he has done better than I would do in just three of the last 35 plate appearances. Wow. The difference in money, however - astonishing.
