QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 01:14 AM) I never had high expectations for this team in 13. I have the luxury of living out of the Chicago viewing area. There seems to be no immediate future with this organization. I would like to see the ownership sell. If not I think we are in for the same poor scouting, poor developing, bad luck in the FA market, we've seen for quite some time. It not unusual for this team to have a bad April. 7-7 at home and 3-7 on road entering a real long road swing. Already five back in the loss column. I don't know why I'm ripped for saying it might be time to start turning this baby around. People blast me, but I think it's time to have a killer month of May if the Sox are going to do anything except be a team that somehow steals a s***ty division. I realize because of injuries it's unpopular to blast the team right now. Sox have a lot of parts missing.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 08:18 PM) Wow Axe sucks. Huh? A bloop single?

That ball exploded off Paulie's bat. Nice to see.

QUOTE (MAX @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 05:08 AM) Dunn has hit 6/21 with 3 HR and 5 RBI in the last 6 games. Two hits tonight and a walk. I would like people to cut the guy some slack . . . for now. I'll gladly take those stats. Didn't realize he was hot. GO DUNN!

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 05:04 AM) Except for the fact that it's from Hawk's stupid rant. Yeah, it has everything to do with the rant and doesn't describe this team, so I'd leave it be. Next year if they go totally young and there's truly a will to win, maybe? Even DeAza can be questioned now with all his Ks. TWTW could be called The Will to Whack (homers) or The Will to Whiff (while trying to hit homers).

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 04:58 AM) I wrote 2 guys under .230 which he is. Yeah I wasn't trying to bag on you, just reiterate the lousiness of Dunn.

Gavin Floyd to DL - Out 14-19 months for TJ Surgery
greg775 replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think it's pretty obvious Gavin's ship has sailed. His career stats are mighty blah and now he's getting brittle. Jon Garland in his prime was way better than Gavin Floyd. Would you all agree he's a No. 5 starter now? Maybe a 4? -
The Will to Win T-shirts should be sold with Hawk's face on it. I don't think this team has exuded that slogan much the past few seasons. We win some games but I wouldn't say this team truly has the will to win? It's like a lot of other teams. OK some nights; lousy other nights.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 03:50 AM) You cannot have 2 guys hitting under .230 in Dunn and Flowers and expect to win many games. Isn't Dunn hitting about .130? Closer to 130 than 230, right?
-
Whiff. DeAza too many K's.
-
That guy went right after Flowers like he had a whiffle bat.
-
A grand slam would make things interesting. How bout a granny? 8-3.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 28, 2013 -> 03:11 AM) Brantley2-run triple, 3-2 KC lead, with 2 outs. Kipnis K. Royals win. At this stage, I don't really hate the Royals anymore. I decided in the offseason to have low expectations for this Sox team. If we can't win it, Royals might as well give the people around here something to follow for the first time in, oh, 25 years.
-
I wonder. It's still hit right at the third baseman. Error?
-
I figured a split would be the best we could do this series, so if we get 3 of 4 that would be a big positive. Sucks to play bad on Saturdays, however. I'm assuming we have a pretty big crowd. I just checked into the game now.

The Will to Win must mean Hawk loves grinders. I wonder who in the Sox everyday lineup the past few years has really exuded the will to win? The guys that can't bunt would be eliminated. If you have a will to win you must learn how to do the little things. I'd say Paulie has the will to win; AJ has the will to win; Peavy has it; Carlton Fisk had it; Baines and Thomas; hopefully Addy Reed. Did Hawk explain who has the will to win?? In his mind, does he go as far back as Pete Rose? There probably aren't many players that truly have the will to win by Hawk's standards.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 03:04 AM) Great to see the Sox come back from the early 3-0 deficit! And powered by The Three G's, no less. Got to love comeback victories. I was driving to dinner and Sox were down 3-0 and I was wondering how many times this season Sox have come back to win when down by as many as even 2 runs? Good to see the team edge back toward .500.
-
That was great to have 2 run cushion in the ninth, gave Addy some breathing room. Nice win as team creeps back toward .500 in fine fashion.
-
I love that fan screaming, "Come on" after some of the bad pitches in this half inning.
-
QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 27, 2013 -> 02:45 AM) You don't ever see our OF make the hanging on the fence effort some of the other guys make. Don't mean to complain. It's scary when Alex Gordon goes for 'em. He's tall and can steal homers.
-
Fathom is right. How can Hawk say "Yes" on that one? Poor Hawk on some calls can't see well.
-
QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 06:04 AM) TWTW Era Record 1-0 .1000 Who started TWTW? I certainly haven't seen that in this team? So why now? What's going on with this saying? I missed it.
-
Now that's not so hard. Just a nice, clean victory. Got to keep hitting home runs, and getting good starting pitching, though. That victory formula generally works for the Sox.
-
I bet it didn't take long to clear out the stadium; the outfield seats were barely occupied.
-
I take it back. Reed was really good. Glad he was pouring in strikes.
