Man, that was a nice win. The top of the order was amazing. Please leave Lexi at second in the order, just because he's an above average to good major leaguer. Thank you. Rios' bomb was crushed. He looked so confident tonight in raking all those hits. Peavy did very well. Are nights like this so difficult? Keep it up, Sox. You got a lot of work to do a week and a half into May.

Sox setting up for the end of the Konerko era?
greg775 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm ready for the rebuild/reload, but the problem is if our team keeps signing bad players (Dunn, Keppinger types) then the rebuild will be as disastrous as this season is going to be. Man, the White Sox future looks bleak IMO. I am in favor of trading Paulie, Peavy and Rios, however, and hoping (PRAYING) Hahn can get some amazing pieces for those guys to put together a contender. If he can't, wow the future is bleak on the southside. He's also going to hire a manager from outside the organization next time and that's risky as well. Crazy. -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 8, 2013 -> 02:43 AM) The offense got one f***ing baserunner and people are b****ing about the bullpen. Unbelievable. True, but Nate Jones was so horrific it's laughable.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 6, 2013 -> 04:42 PM) Both of those stats are heavily factored by the players surrounding him in the lineup. Don't blame him because the rest of our lineup sucks. All I'm saying is the guy has five RBIs. 20 strikeouts in 84 at bats. I'm not saying he's horrible, especially compared to others in the lineup, but I'm saying I think he's getting too much credit on here. That's all. He's hitting .289. Look I don't hate the guy. I'm hoping at the still young age of 25 he's found it. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2013 -> 02:13 AM) Don't get crazy and think they can do this four times. Honestly it wouldn't shock me if the Bulls lost the next four, unless they get really healthy, really quickly. Nothing surprising there, considering Bulls will be underdogs in the next four. But for tonight, wow. Bulls should be so loose in each of the games with absolutely nothing to lose. No matter what, it has to be fun for the Bulls players and coaches to have no reason at all to be nervous or tight in any of the games. This is all about making the Heat sweat (choke?).

QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 7, 2013 -> 02:28 AM) Just saw the replay on the Lexi "foul" ball. No way that's foul, where the ball landed it shouldn't even be a question I know. The replay makes it seem like it has to be fair where it landed. But the umps saw the same angle. They are seeing something we aren't.

Nice game by Sale. Looked like Lexi got robbed of a home run. Sox are 3-3 against the Royals this year which is pretty amazing. You'd take a .500 record against them any day considering the rosters.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2013 -> 07:36 PM) A bit? I dunno, I kind of like KC's bullpen n roster.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2013 -> 07:32 PM) Again, why would this game matter so much for the success KC might have this year? It would be like saying the White Sox were poised for a big year if they beat Seattle with Felix Hernandez on the mound. Seattle and Felix have been the Sox b**** for a few years now. I agree with Fathom on this one. KC is going to finish 2nd in the division probably no matter what happens today. Might even win the division, but Detroit appears a bit better on paper. Today doesn't matter too much, Royals still are going to do what Caufield said.

With Sale's pitch count no way he goes more than 4-5 innings today.

How is Hawk going to handle broadcasting a team this bad this season?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2013 -> 07:30 PM) A loss today would be 14 in the last 18 (4-14) in KC. Great, more defensive lapses. This is getting to be almost unbearable. "The White Sox have been atrocious defensively. It has been true in this series, it has been true since the very start of the season." Eight errors in the last 7 games. Should be another error there on Alexei if not for the homer scorekeeper. I don't know, cauf, Cain is pretty fast and hustles. He might have beat that out anyway. Most scorers would call that a hit.

Fathom said it earlier but the disparity on the talent on these two teams is amazing. Sox have no chance in Kauffman this year. p.s. Sale's velocity sucks. What is going on??

Testing his back does not sound very good. As we all know, back pain is pretty s***ty. I mean if he's got back spams at any point in a game or warming up, couldn't the discomfort hit him hard?? ptatc?

Leo "The Lip" Durocher would be turning in his grave...

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2013 -> 04:52 PM) It's indisputable the lack of talent has to be laid at the feet of KW and Reinsdorf for supporting him. Hahn bears some responsibility for overpaying Keppinger, but he didn't have money or talent to go out and trade for Chase Headley, did he? And he did a decent job of finding a decent prospect in Gillaspie who's at least held the season from getting totally out of control...for now. That said, many others, and Fathom has been even more prominent, have noticed strategic mismanagement and in-game decision making that's become worrisome and is showing no signs of improvement. We knew there would be a learning curve, that this was "on the job." My biggest fear is that Ventura took the job out of loyalty to JR and his heart is not 100% into it...to many, he still represents that symbol of Sox greatness of the recent past. He was such a popular player, fans won't start to blame him until next year. KW and JR knew exactly what they were doing. It took about five years for the Ozzie Show to wear thin, too, and it might never have if the team wasn't so disappointing that there was no choice but to blame the manager. Maybe Ventura was perfect for the transition period "After Ozzie" but nobody's quite so sure if he is the man to lead this team out of the wilderness, either. And Dick, you've followed baseball long enough to know there's more than one person responsible. You defended Greg Walker to the end, and you might have been right about that, but it's impossible to blame this currrent malaise of a situation we're in on just ONE person, not 100%. It's much more nuanced that that, and everyone knows it. I think Gillaspie is getting too much credit on this board. Show me some RBIs and runs scored. -
Would things be any different under Walker?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2013 -> 04:29 AM) Greg, have you joined Dick Allen's "Greg Walker Fan Club"? No, but I never minded Walker. You know what might make the future interesting on the South Side? LaRussa. -

Reed was due for a bad outing unfortunately. The hex on the Sox continues. Anytime you are up two runs in the ninth, the opposing team should be pretty much dead. -
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 5, 2013 -> 10:49 PM) We sure love to lose games that are pretty much impossible to lose. Great post. The last month of last season and this entire season, my gawd, how we do just what you said? The Sox "love to lose games that are pretty much impossible to lose." That line shortly and succinctly describes the White Sox.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 2, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) So glad Walker is gone now he can ruin the Braves young prospects. Walker may suck in your opinion, but our current hitting coach isn't exactly working wonders. True, the talent is sketchy, but still... -

QUOTE (High Mileage @ May 6, 2013 -> 02:07 AM) Lots of season left to be played fellas. You just have a few guys not contributing much right now. I'm baffled as to why anybody would walk Getz. He literally brings almost nothing to the plate. Royals 11th comeback win already this season, Alex Gordon has been so clutch, if he keeps it up he'll be an All-Star starter. Seriously, the decision to walk Getz may be the worst in baseball history. I don't even remember the name of the next hitter, but he was a lefty also, who Ommo immediately walked. Gordon then teed off on a drive Rios should have caught despite the fact it was hit pretty darn hard. But how can the White Sox walk Getz there? Is a force at any base but home that important?? I know this is all second guessing but Robin really looks dumb there considering the way it turned out ... horribly. -
Who do you blame for the current state of the team?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2013 -> 10:16 PM) Youk was not great for the White Sox, he was tolerable, and overall, the white sox 3b spot last year was still awful, including Youk. The Youk we got the first two weeks was great. I thought he was going to spark the Sox to the division title. But even he couldn't stop the fizz at the end. He was as automatic an out during the choke as the rest of the team. -

QUOTE (flavum @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) I'm glad these assholes have to stay another night in KC instead of having a day off in NYC. Hey, KC isn't so bad. We've got barbecue and/or steaks and the Plaza is OK. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:48 PM) Comsidering they will get an additional $25 million from the national TV contract, even your exhaggeration could probably be handled. Sox only hope is to play the free agent game correctly once we get Dunn's money off the books, suck it up and get some name players (younger versions of Youk/AJ, though not necessarily slow on the basepaths) and hope this time they can produce better than Dunn. We've got to go the free agent route and get some good everyday hitters in here to go with our decent pitching. We could use an experienced manager our next go-round in the managerial circus. I think we missed the boat on Francona. I hope they at least let Robin manage as long as he wants to, since he got the short end of the stick talent-wise, compared to Ozzie. I bet Ozzie would come back if they asked him. How bout a contract that says every time Ozzie says something that a 3 person panel consisting of one fan, one front office executive and one community leader construes as controversial he is fined $100,000? That would shut him up and he could return. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2013 -> 09:57 PM) Agreed. Not even really upset, what's the point? All last season, these games would have been killers, especially the ones against KC. Now, they're just more evidence of a crumbling organization that's being passed while essentially standing still. When you're something like 4-8 in your own division without even facing the Tigers, what do you expect? Yeah, add me to the list. I'm not invested mentally this year so I don't get mad during the games. I get sarcastic and moody and critical, but not mad. Like you said, what's the point. We have a lousy team. Even today when we are ready for a fairly nice win, what happens? Our incredibly reliable closer finally blows a save. Weird. -

QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 5, 2013 -> 10:23 PM) I'm still bewildered at the decision to walk the feeble Chris Getz. I had a Royals fan at the game text me when we started to walk Getz and he wrote, "Your Sox deserve to lose for walking Chris Getz." Not so much later, ballgame predictably over. -

Who do you blame for the current state of the team?
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not gonna blame Ventura, but I do wish Terry Francona was Ozzie's replacement. I think the Sox wanted somebody quiet after Ozzie. I think Francona would be in Hahn and KW's ear daily telling them that no manager could win with this collection of lousy hitters/fielders. I can't picture Francona going down without a fight. Robin is so passive he seems like the fall guy, the guy who has to lose quietly after Ozzie, despite the fact his players suck.
