LOL. Three hits with today's powerful lineup. Now that the Sox were at .500 and are now six under, maybe the plummet to last place is finally occurring for good. This team blows.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 09:34 PM) He's most definitely a stiff, that's for sure. I wish I had more opportunities to see him play when he was one of the most consistent players in the game just to understand what he's doing differently up there. During that little stretch where he hit a batch of home runs this season he was just making contact and steering it right over the fence, going the other way. I guess he's just incapable of making contact except for a couple weeks total every season. He really looked like he had it figured out. I guess in retrospect he was making contact and elevating the other way against truly horrible pitchers. Any pitcher with a functioning brain strikes him out effortlessly.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) I literally hate Adam f***ing Dunn more than any player in White Sox history. More than Jaime Navarro, Wil Cordero, Scott Linebrink, Darin Erstad, & Todd Ritchie. How could he take that last pitch? It just proves how he's finished. He'll run into a home run ball or two during the rare stretches his brain has him simply make contact and elevate but most of the time he does s*** like that last at bat. What a stiff.

LOL. Viciedo and Dunn both take meatball pitches for strike 3. This is like 2 years ago. Anybody who pays to go to a Sox game this season is an idiot. You have to watch Dunn and spending one penny to watch Dunn is too much money. Hope all of you who live in Chicago are ONLY going to games when you can grab a free ticket from family or buddies this year.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) I have been wondering this very thing. You hear of these things with good hitters going bad for some reason. Get your eyes checked for crying out loud. I just can't believe the man with the hitting history he has is this bad. And I can't blame KW for this move. It looked great at the time and I am betting most of us were ecstatic about the signing. I do admire Dunn for the fact he sucks it up and keeps coming to the ball park everyday. He is trying to get it figured out and doesn't make excuses. Rockin how can you not blame KW for acquiring Dunn? That acquisition has pretty much ruined the past few seasons and next season as well.

Five L's in a row? Man, the White Sox suck.

I think Gillaspie is a major leaguer. He has a pretty decent stroke. I don't think he's anything special. He's been good this year and doesn't deserve scorn of any kind for his contributions with the Sox.

This is why columnists LIKE Mariotti were a good thing. Not saying him, by all accounts he's a jerk, but somebody incredibly critical. Might fire up the Sox or their fanbase. Sox are suddenly 4 under .500 again. They should be a game out or tied, but nooo, had to lose 3 to the Cubs and can't beat Colon. I mean there's no controversy ever, cause we have fair media members that work for the papers and on the radio/TV. Sox should be ripped to shreds by at least one local columnist. By now, Mariotti would be tearing into Manto, if not Robin; and burying guys like Dunn, Flowers, maybe even Paulie. The controversy might wake up this lifeless team. Remember how mad Reinsdorf and Hawk would get at Mariotti? They stir things up. But we got nobody now to do Mariotti's job.

QUOTE (DukeofChicagoA1 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 04:23 AM) Go Blackhawks Good point. If the Hawks go 2 up Saturday and Sunday, I'll be a happy camper regardless of this pathetic baseball team I follow on a regular basis.
-
The White Sox have one, horrible baseball team. Anybody who denies that, look at a picture of Bartolo Colon. He could have pitched 12 innings and we wouldn't have scored. Please fire or demote somebody, Robin.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 04:04 AM) If Thornton came in to start this inning and they scored, Ventura would have been roasted. True, but that's because I despise Thornton.
-
Well it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see we don't win unless we hit home runs and we're not hitting that many home runs. This lineup wouldn't scare a 40-year-old has been pitcher.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 04:55 AM) Because the chances of it making a difference are slim to none? Cause inexplicably the name "Walker" spiked venom in our fans and nobody cares about Manto. They probably remember Walker the player.
-
This game has 1-0 walkoff loss written all over it. Folks, we aren't scoring tonight. No way.
-
Fire somebody after this game. If we can't score a run off Colon, at least make somebody pay. Player, coach, somebody. Demotion, firing, whatever.
-
LOL at Dunn. Can't get a hit in a third at bat against Colon. My god.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ May 31, 2013 -> 07:57 PM) They are still much less meaningful compared to games against the Tigers, Royals, Indians or Twins. I wouldn't care if they didn't win a single game against the Cubs for the next 5 years if it meant they had a winning record against the AL central in that same time-frame It depends what you mean by "meaningful." In the standings, sure because thanks to baseball's horrible rules we have to play the division teams 18 times. There are a lot of fights between Cub and Sox fans, verbal and physical. I'm not going to say the series doesn't matter just because my team played like bums for 3 days. It matters a lot to me and a lot of people who loose teeth over Sox vs. Cubs and have for years.

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ May 31, 2013 -> 07:31 PM) I'll credit Rogers for at least starting the conversation that Dunn is the elephant in the room that the Chicago media refuses to address. Dunn needs to hit the road -- and maybe putting public pressure on management will speed the process. It's not enough to make me long for the days of Mariotti. But the kid-gloves treatment of Dunn because he's a nice guy and has handled his 'struggles' so well is silly. How hard can it be to handle the struggles when you're making $14 million a year and everybody keeps telling you to keep your chin up, kid. He can't produce as a major-league hitter any more -- and Ventura still parks him in the clean-up spot. It's 20 miles beyond absurd. Great post. Would he still be playing a lot if this sport was NFL or NBA? If a guy was this bad and this much a waste of space missing jumper after jumper and turning the ball over every time he touched it, wouldn't he be benched or released? If a big lineman allowed sack after sack after sack even making top dollar, would he be benched or released? Just cut Dunn, please. I can't believe he got on that "hot streak" and now is back in the tank. It look like he was determined to make contact and thus, hit the ball over the fence to left center and center. It'd be so awesome if he just quit.

That is a bunch of crap. Before interleague play, the Sox-Cubs played some exhibition game for charity during the season and it was packed and the whole city was going crazy for bragging rights. The Sox and Cubs even used their starters for five innings or so. Some families to this day have big-time arguments during holiday parties as my family did on the South Side when I was a kid. My dad, uncle and grandfathers who had different allegiances would scream at each other discussing the two teams and their ballparks. I think the Sox should be ashamed they loafed during the 3-game Cub series and lost all three. The lazy Sox millionaires should be embarrassed. Nice job, players and coaches alike to get their asses kicked by the Cubs 3 days.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2013 -> 09:54 PM) His inability to hit RHP well is very concerning. I think a good pitcher is laughing when Viciedo comes to the plate. My feeling is he's an easy out except for the occasions he runs into a pitch. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:45 PM) GONNA LOSE THE BP CUP FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU This team has been so dysfunctional since winning the WS title. Just doing stuff that can't be explained like losing 3 in a row to the s***ty Cubs and getting blown out of all three games after a hot streak got the team to .500. I'd suspect we ain't getting over .500 this season. I'm done. No more negativity today. This team has totally ruined my week post Memorial Day. Thank GOD for the CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS!!!! -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 30, 2013 -> 08:36 PM) And what changed this team from last eason when defensively we were so good? Sounds like complacency and laziness to me. Robin's second year. He trusted the guys to continue on after a good first year, and they have done this to him. -

I'd be very very upset if I owned this team and it played like this against the crosstown inferior rival. Poor Robin should be embarrassed how his team laid down. -

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 30, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) My phone is being blown up from f***ing scrubs fans. I really hate this s*** especially since I'm at work. Can some benching and playing other players save face for this team? I really think it can. No. Our bench is one of the worst benches in Sox history IMO. Let's face it, Robin was a candidate for manager of the century a few games ago when we hit .500. Now we're about to go three under .500 which is more like it with this collection of whiffle ball bat hitters. -

At least one Chicago team can win games by more than one run. Oops ... it's when the Cubs play our zombie-like Sox.
