  1. Do the Sox have more close games the past two seasons than any team imaginable? Or any team throughout history? We score 7 runs and it means nothing. Another close game. This team is never going to do anything of note again unless it develops the capability of winning its share of blowouts.
  2. Sox win a baseball game? Wow. I'll take it. More importantly the Chicago Blackhawks won!
  3. Don't shoot the messenger. Maybe Rogers is telling us the truth about KW.
  4. For those of us who don't follow the draft, please tell us about our No. 1 pick. Who is he and when will he be in the bigs, etc? Also any other highlights. Thank u.
  5. I don't know how teams like the White Sox make money. You read about how much the franchise is worth, but with attendance likely to be at an all time low the rest of the season, how do they pay those absurd player contracts? We all know the attendance is shot the rest of this season. It just seems like they'd need to have a lot of butts in the seats to make a buck and most people wouldn't go to a game the rest of this season even if offered a free ticket.
  6. Back to topic, if anybody wants Rios I'd trade him first. Also I would release Dunn and go from there. Those are my first two moves.
  7. A's must be loving catching the White Sox at this time. Been grabbing automatic wins that will be important in September.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 04:21 AM) Problem is the Sox lineup is it what it is. Dunn and Konerko look to both be washed up. Flowers, Viciedo and Keppinger should only be starting against LHP, and Gillaspie only against RHP. Alexei has turned into a singles hitter going over 200 ABs without a homer. The ceiling for this offense is incredibly low. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 04:26 AM) But they did collapse. The team is worse this year. Dunn is awful, Konerko is awful. 2 of your more important hitters being terrible due to age/decline makes a big difference, it's simply not realistic to expect them to even reach 2012 levels, let alone better than that. Pierzynski is gone, replaced with Flowers, also terrible. There's 1/3 of your lineup. Keppinger's been awful, there's 4. Floyd's done. Peavy's done for 4-6 weeks. There's 2/5 of your rotation. It's not the same team as 2012, which, no one thought was THAT good at any point last year, either. These are excellent posts. I can envision no scenario in which the Sox start winning series. The record is going to get very very ugly. The question is ... will Robin want to return next season as the rebuild really gets going. We're going to lose a ton of games the next 5 seasons IMO and Robin isn't that bad a manager as what his record is going to be.
  9. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 04:17 AM) I hate to think of what the run differential will be in those 19 games against the Tigers. -45 perhaps? I would think if Detroit cares about beating us, they'll go 14-5 versus the Sox. Maybe 15-4. But chances are they won't be able to get up for the Sox and it'll probably end up 11-8. Although in typing that last sentence I certainly can't envision a scenario in which we actually win 8 games against anybody much less Detroit.
  10. Can you imagine Robin Ventura's mood after his daughter graduates and he has to fly back and resume managing this team? It has to be putting him in a deep depression thinking about returning to this hodgepodge of horrible baseball talent.
  11. I think it's pretty obvious we have one of the worst teams in baseball. This is the year the Sox definitely finish last in the Central. Viciedo is truly disappointing. I thought he was a young stud. He's just another selfish hitter who swings as hard as he can and usually misses. Very very disappointing.
  12. Fastball right down the heart of the plate. Whiff Viciedo. How bout not swing quite as hard and you know, make contact?? Horrible at bat. That ball was right down the middle.
  13. Why has Viciedo been a bust? Those stats they just flashed suck.
  14. Lotta good seats available on that lower deck shot.
  15. This is not a flame or a death wise to get banned, but after seeing Lexi fail to bunt AGAIN it made me wonder if you guys agree our team is NOT getting any better managing/coaching out of this current staff than Ozzeroo's staff. I mean, my god. That failure to bunt only has cost us ANOTHER game. Ozzie called for the bunt and guys failed. This staff calls for the bunt and guys fail. Our team SUCKS at fundamentals. At what point is this the current staff's fault??
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 02:08 AM) Sale has to be done. 112 pitches. Please Cooper, you're smart enough not to risk the most important asset in the organization just to get him a win. Gillaspie now down in the .250's. Well, that was due to happen. Another week or two, we'll be "clamoring" for Jeff Keppinger, those who still care. I never was on the Gillaspie bandwagon and about got killed for it on here figuratively. He was not a great player at WSU and fans didn't even like him a lot in college. He was a hack defensively.
  17. Is this one of the worst stretches in White Sox history? The team loses almost every night.
  18. Memo to White Sox players: Losing 9 of 10 and dropping to last place this time of year is not making you any friends in the Sox front office. Just as fans have free time to go to games, they are quickly eliminating you and your high priced beer, soda and hot dogs from their list of summer entertainment possibilities. I know you probably don't care, but it is rude of you to treat those who sign your checks this way.
  19. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 04:55 AM) THIS!!! If Dunn can stay in that approach I have much more faith in him. Tough loss, but until the Tigers shore up that pen they aint running away just yet. JUST GOTTA FLIPPIN HIT!!!! Seriously need to bring up Phegley & let him see if he can stay hot. It's not like Flowers is a defensive specialist haha. Love what I am seeing from Beck & if De Aza can focus on line drives & just getting on base rather than the long ball I think we can turn it around offensively. I officially gave up on Dunn after he used the "hit it where it is pitched" approach en route to bashing about 8-10 home runs, then immediately went into another 1-for-30 type funk. The big fella is a lousy baseball player. I agree I would have praised him greatly had that shot to left sailed over the fence, but it was just another out. Funny he's not even worth $1-3 million a year anymore, much less whatever astronomical amount he's making.
  20. Man that could have been our 10th loss in a row. The Sox and Royals really reek.
  21. Too bad Cespides didn't drop the ball the way he flicked the glove at it. Pretty impressive flick. I thought that might be a Cell home run but I wasn't as convinced as Hawk. No way. It didn't look like a certain HR.
  22. Drat, Dunn will end the game with a K. f***.
  23. This is the ballgame right here. If DeAza can get on, we have a chance. If he fails, forget it. It'll be 1-2-3. Cmon DeAza.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 03:51 AM) Down 6.5 with a run differential +/- between the teams of 110. We're not that close, and that's not taking into account Peavy being injured. It's hard to imagine this starting rotation pitching well enough to keep the Sox in the hunt. This probably by all accounts should be our 10th loss in a row.
  25. To those of you who played baseball in college or high school or whatever ... Gillaspie made a fantastic stop of that smash, but his throw was horrible. My question to you is, upon making such a stop, is it still a big fail when you make a crummy throw like that?
