  1. Tell me truthfully what you'd expect for a brittle Jake Peavy?
  2. Bad News Bears. The White Sox ... bad at anything re. the fundamentals.
  3. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 11:08 PM) Ehh not necessarily...I'm sure in that span he will have a couple rehab starts under his belt to go with the couple big league starts. Guys, guys ... Peavy is not going to bring us ANYTHING of value. He's a bulldog but get hurts way too much. We'll get scraps for Jake. Why don't you see that?

    Dunn?

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 03:36 PM) He has definitely looked better the last few games. Perhaps his back issue was more serious than anybody let on. I suppose we can only hope that was the case and that he is healthy again. He actually could easily hit 30 home runs this season. Yet it probably wouldn't change my opinion of him. Pretty strange statement.
  5. I'm thinking this is going to be another trying economic year or two. The government has made massive budget cuts for U of Kansas with 40 faculty to be laid off, etc. Can't be good news.
  6. Serious question: Do you think eventually the world will end or be changed forever as a result of US and China tensions? Do you feel someday we will nuke them and/or they will nuke us? It seems to me we have met our match in China. I prefer the USA and am a heckuva patriot and all that, but I am asking you ... will china prevail at some point in the world order? When the world ends will it be a result of USA and China nukes???
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 7, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) There are a few other places she could land that I would be perfectly OK with. Like in my bedroom. Great line. I had to laugh. Great column on Bobby Hull. Man that was excellent. I didn't realize Bobby was such an asshole. Any man that hits a woman is a f***ing asshole.
  8. Not a great game. A little surprised the Hawks didn't come out and put this series away 3-0. I do realize the Kings are exceedingly tough at home. Well, I now fully expect this to return to Chicago tied 2-2. So it's time for home ice to hold true. Hawks got to take care of business at home after Kings tie this baby up. That's my take. If we were gonna win one in LA it woulda been tonight.
  9. Sox have lost eight in a row. This pretty much assures the team won't be .500 again anytime soon. It's going to take a long while to get back to .500. So what should the Sox do? I personally think this everyday lineup is the worse in baseball. The only other contenders are the Royals and Astros. With our minor league system rated as one of the worst, is this it? Are we beginning a 10-year period of not even sniffing .500 again?
  10. I simply love Peavy, but he's not ever gonna bring much in a trade because of the injury thing. True, all pitchers get hurt, but Peavy is right up there with the rest of 'em. He gets hurt.
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) I don't care that it's the Cubs, I just care that the Sox looked like the worst team in baseball against one of the worst teams in baseball. Say what you want. The Cub series will go down as the turning point in the Sox season. It's when the Sox completely went in the tank. It'll be 8 in a row tonight. That's a long losing streak. Like I said before you hit 10 and heads should start to roll. It's hard to lose 10 baseball games in a row.
  12. Pretty funny that you can only conclude it'll be a fourth loss to the Cubs if Samarj pitches. Hilarious how bad a team the White Sox have become. It's going to be hard to get used to having a bad team. Our team's problems aren't easily fixable.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 05:42 AM) lol@the Konerko hating. Dude is 37 (without PEDs that's like 47 in baseball years). The decline was inevitable. The fact that it's just now happening is kind of remarkable. I don't hate him, but he is finished, at least as a power hitter. I wonder if he can learn how to slash singles and become a .300 hitter with 5-10 homers a year.
  14. With our lineup, pencil in eight in a row tomorrow. Geez.
  15. Ninth inning Rios Fly out. Konerko K Viciedo K Game over.
  16. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 05:18 AM) If that's what it takes, then we should all hope for a 10 game losing streak. Whats an extra three losses on this season, anyway? And personally, not that heads rolling should mean shifting coaches (atleast now), but there should be significant roster changes. I've always been in favor of winning as many games as possible, but the last several seasons have kind of jaded me to the point I just want heads to roll. We'll be seeing a lot of Sox on other teams' rosters in coming seasons and you just know they'll be doing a lot of damage against the Sox. Couldn't they tell in spring training that this offense would be abysmal? Do they pay our GM, president, scouts, etc?? A station to staion team with absolutely no speed, no plate discipline and the only hope of scoring runs the long ball. Yet we let 27 home runs go in AJP and Paulie is simply too old to hit 20-25 home runs and Dunn is Dunn. Even if he somehow runs into 25-30 home runs, he'll be a detriment.
  17. I wonder how many in a row Sox are going to lose. Once you hit 10 and upwards of 10, that's to the point heads need to roll. Whose heads? Dunno.
  18. LOL at Flowers. At least he hustled down the line.
  19. So team dysfunction is about to lose its seventh straight game since hitting the .500 mark. Can anybody explain this? All of a sudden Sox are plummeting to the bottom again after looking like a decent team.

    Dunn?

How did this Dunn thread turn into a bash fest of my favorite Sox player and skipper of all time, Ozzie Guillen? I'll try to get it back on track by saying ... please White Sox, just release Adam Dunn.
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 3, 2013 -> 03:22 AM) I say we bat him 2nd and Alexei first! Spice this s*** up a bit Sounds good.
  22. Good win for the Blackhawks. Predictably a fight breaks out with the Hawks up, 4-1. LA trying to prove it won't lay down and let the Hawks do whatever they want. LA probably figures it has some momentum after scoring the final two goals of the game. We shall see. GO HAWKS!
  23. Glad Beckham is back to join the fray. This may be his swan song as a White Sox. Is he gonna finally hit or continue his 'averageness?'

    Dunn?

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 2, 2013 -> 07:43 PM) Ozzie ruined 2012. Dunn was worth his contract. You can choose to ignore his career stats up until signing with the White Sox if you like, but in the real world, players who achieve what Dunn achieved get those kinds of contracts. If the Sox didn't sign him someone else would have been saddled with his deal. GMs, like anyone else on the planet, need to be evaluated based on what they were able to do with what they had to work with & with the information available at the time. You can't punish a GM for not being a psychic. Yes Dunn was a high K machine, but he was also in his prime, left-handed, an OBP machine, and a huge power threat. Kenny only gave him 4 years, which was probably the bare minimum he was going to get. IIRC the Tigers were also in on him & there were people saying Dunn would get 5 years. This was a good on-paper move that backfired, and the type of move any GM could make. Take AA for instance, this guy was a genius 6 months ago & now he's garbage who needs to be ousted. Really? Did he completely lose all mental faculties over the last 6 months? Or did he make a couple moves that looked good on paper but turned to s*** on the field? Blaming KW for Dunn is completely ridiculous. I think your last line is completely ridiculous. If you or I made such a decision in the business world, no matter how "logical" it seemed to be at the time, we'd be so fired, so long ago. It's results that matter. Kevin Pritchard chose Oden over Durant. He did so for logical reasons. Look up all the articles before that draft and just about everybody said he had to take Oden. And it cost Pritchard his job. KW flopped in taking on Dunn. It's pretty much ruined our team cause of that huge contract and also the buzzkill he brings to the squad on a daily basis.
  25. The hitting coach does not matter. KC is hitting as horrible as ever four games into the George Brett era. That didn't fire up KC, so we should learn that firing Manto will have no effect as well. We have hitters, like the Royals, who have no clue. They don't walk and they don't hit. Now that Paulie is too old to hit home runs, and we lost all that power from AJ, our lineup is pretty timid. Horrifically bland offensive team. Kind of sad that DeAza is nothing special. I thought he might be way above average ballplayer. Very sad that Flowers sucks. If we were smart fans, we would stop following the team until Dunn is gone. We aren't winning anything of note with him on the roster. I don't care how good the pitching is. --Fireable offense: Lexi has 10 RBIs all season. 200 at bats? Geez that is pathetic.
