  1. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 28, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) C Phegley 1B Kyle Blanks 2B Keppinger SS Alexi Amarista 3B Gillespie/Morel LF Viciedo CF Danks RF Corey Hart DH Viciedo SP Chris Sale SP Erik Johnson SP John Danks SP Jose Quintana SP Tyson Ross/Gavin Floyd CL Ramon Tronosco RP Nate Jones RP Jhan Marinez RP Santos Rodriguez RP Donnie Veal RP Joey Devine Trade Santiago, Crain, and Flowers to the Padres for Blanks, Amarista, Ross, Adys Portillo and Cory Spangenberg. Bullpen is basically a revolving door while the Sox evaulate guys from the system that can be long term contributors. Of course other deals will bring back players as well, but I they will probably not all be ready to contribute on opening day. Why would anybody want Flowers? Santiago is a decent prospect, nothing special. Crain is good, but old. Why would the Padres ship us all those guys for one stiff, one decent lefty and a good but aging setup man?
  2. I sense a negative soxtalk vibe on Morel for some reason. Gillispie is nothing special, either, folks. That's why I'm concerned about this rebuild. Even after the housecleaning, we could be a team full of Gillispie's. It takes a genius to rebuild, a Billy Beane type. Can Hahn pull it off???
  3. I wish the Sox would have tried something before the firesale. At least the Royals fired their hitting coach buffoons and brought in George Brett for at least a month. At least the team is near .500 again. Sox could have done the same with Frank. Done something.
  4. He better make the right trades. I still wish he wouldn't trade pitching. Sox are going to be a 60 win team for a long long time to come if he trades off all that pitching.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 03:51 AM) It was very clever and so "insider Hollywoodish," like a cross between Entourage and The Player with a disaster movie like 2012/The Day After Tomorrow thrown in for dramatic effect. I'm sure they had a TON of fun making that one, especially Michael Cera. Credit to James Franco for being able to make fun of himself. It was also a bit like Grown Ups, I Love You, Man, Horrible Bosses or the Hot Tub Time Machine, buddy/bonding picture. I loved Horrible Bosses but I didn't get Grown Ups. I thought it was really dull. I did laugh at some of the lines in the trainer for Grown Ups II.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) We went to a family friends' daughter's wedding last year. She had been posting about her wedding nonstop on facebook for about a year. For the entire wedding, she looked absolutely miserable and on the verge of tears because not everything was 100% perfect. I don't know why people stress themselves out so much. That's a sad tale. Man, when it's wedding day, it's time to go with the flow and let it all loose. Who cares if the f***ing cake is not perfect or stuff like that? It's party time. Is she over it now? Or still complaining/crying?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 10:36 AM) I guess. But if Rios, Dunn and Konerko are all gone....and Viciedo struggling mightily, who will actually hit (and hit with power) for us next year? Gordon Beckham? Gillaspie/Keppinger at 3B? Almost every position could be replaced on the field, including DeAza, Ramirez and especially catcher. I guess? Don't tell me you are softening. If you can dump Dunn, do it now.
  8. I don't know why you guys want to trade pitching. It's like you want us to be out of the race in April the next several years. You know how long it's going to take to rebuild if all facets of our team suck?
  9. QUOTE (woodstox @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 02:45 AM) Two serious questions: how many losses do you think are a direct result of Flowers' poor defensive play? I know of a few games off the top of my head he's actually helped WIN for the Sox so I'd like to understand why you make it sound like he's the main reason for the Sox's demise this season. Pitching is doing it's job mostly and from what I understand the staff likes how he manages them. Second question: what was A.J. like stat-wise when he finally got his chance as a starter? What's the norm for catchers? (OK maybe that's 3 questions) I'm seriously asking these because I don't know the answers, not because I necessarily am trying to prove you wrong. I haven't read this whole thread yet but I'm seeing errors and poor play all over the field and yet keep seeing people continue to act like one person is responsible for the majority of it. My gut is that unless he was hitting .300+ and had no errors that he was never going to get away from these AJ comparisons. Good questions. The reason I started this thread is it was Sunday night and I heard the announcers praising AJ, I saw he was hitting over .300 with good numbers and it reminded me of how he was ornery and probably wouldn't allow this horses*** defensive play to go on. I also looked at the black hole that is Flowers in the lineup and thought his bat would be a big time plus again this season. As much as I don't like Flowers, I wanted to blast the FRONT OFFICE for another lousy move that did not work. I think it's pretty obvious Flowers is a lousy everyday player, a decent sub probably and AJ's absence truly hurt this lineup and this team.
  10. Great thread titles the last 2 nights. Marcum (1-9) is a LOL moment. And last night's dropped pop up was a LOL moment. How did u know it'd be a LOL series (more than usual)?
  11. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 02:24 AM) Not just this time, hawk and stone don't interact much at all. they both talk but not really to eachother. They might as well be in different booths lol....wow lol alexei Poor Stoney. Must be awful working with somebody with such a huge ego. From what I've read on here, Hawk thinks he's more special than he actually is.
  12. And the Sox continue to plod on. I wish somebody would get fired or they'd make the first firesale trade. CMON Yankees. You do want Adam Dunn. Make the Sox an offer soon. Get this thing going.
  13. Good thing my mlb.com isn't working. Sounds like one of the dullest games of the year (again).
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 05:56 AM) Oh man you lyin', dude. You were never no hardcore Blackhawks fan until now. I don't have a problem with bandwagoners. Just admit it. Wite did. I won't comment any more on this to pollute the board. I told everybody I was CURRENTLY a playoff-only fan, living in Kansas where you get used to not having hockey. I also explained my past relationship with hockey. I played it. I have gone to tons of Hawks games in my life, with my dad using his season tickets. I classified myself current as a playoffs-only fan; a past hardcore. If I'm not allowed to root for the Hawks or relish in the title, my bad.
  15. How is Morel handling back issues w/out surgery? I respect him for giving it a last shot. I wonder what Crede is doing these days? He made a lot of money. Just retired?
  16. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 03:29 AM) Yesterday, 10:42 PM Post #3115 Pretty amazing that Hawks pull their goalie and around 25 seconds of ice time later , the Bruins are pulling their goalie. Blackhawks deserve all the praise they are going to get the next 50 years for that great rally at the end. It showed so much heart.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 03:01 AM) Oh, he was a piece of s*** in all facets of business. I hope Lucifer is raping him as we speak. Man. I love sports but I don't even know how to react to your posts. I hope you are kidding with some of them and this is an Internet joke/troll type situation. Because your rage is scary. Personally I think it's a lack of class to criticize the dead so brutally, even on the anonymous internet.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 02:55 AM) Between our starting SS and 2b this year, they have 18 errors and 1 home run. But yep, if they had AJ, they would have won it all. You guys overreact to everything I say, but YES AJ woulda kicked some ass after that play. Or HE would have taken command, not leaving it up to Reed. If you watch the replay, Flowers is just standing there like a statue. p.s. If you read my original AJ post you will see it does not overreact like some have to me. Read it closely. Tell me MY POST makes no sense. Cheap shot, fathom.

Damn. The End of the World was pretty damn amazing. I enjoyed it. It was so different.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 01:41 AM) You don't know why a Blackhawks fan would hate Bill Wirtz? But to rot in hell? That's taking sports WAY too seriously IMO.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) lol@greg pretending to be a hardcore blackhawks fan. Only hockey you ever watched before this year were the Mighty Ducks movies. Yeah, right. I told you all my dad had season tickets and I went to 20 or more games a year for a 5-6 year stretch of my childhood on the South side. I also told you I am a playoff only fan now. I watched every playoff game. I also played hockey at Brother Rice and was pretty good. I grew up playing hockey in the winter at the park on the south side. I've been hit in the nuts with a puck without a cup and it hurts. I've played goalie in pickup games on the south side and been scared to death of taking a puck to the mouth. But I don't know hockey at all. I loved going to Hawks games as a kid. Nothing like seeing the puck go in the net and the red light and the fans go crazy.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 01:44 PM) That was, seriously, the most ridiculous end to a sports game I have ever seen. That type of amazing, clutch s*** just does not happen. Geoff Blum previously held the "omg that just happened" play of my lifetime, and that has now been handed over to the tandem of Bickell and Bolland. Twenty four undefeated games to start the season combined with the ridiculous comeback against the hated Red Wings AND the downing of the "unstoppable" Jonathan Quick and Tuuka Rask = best.season.ever. Eat s***, Bruins. See you turds on Friday. Very true. That's why this is so sweet. The history of Chicago sports that the media brings up a lot has not often included something like this. That's one of the greatest late-game performances in sports history, stealing that game, for sure. And our team did it. That is so sweet. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 05:56 PM) Bill Wirtz can rot in hell. Damn. What's up with that? QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 06:39 PM) Rewatching the game... Seabrooks block in the 1st on their first PP was huge....That seemed like a given goal with the breakdown in the penalty killing & Seabrook took one for the team. Could have easily been 2-0.....Hell that 1st period they could have been up about 4-0. Crawford & the Defenders were unbelievable. Seabrook is a good hockey player. I love watching that guy play.
  23. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 04:21 AM) well as the resident Bruins fan all I can say is congrats to you guys. Sometimes the puck doesnt bounce your way and usually in series this tight, the team that does the better job around the crease wins. Chicago got to the loose pucks a lot more frequently on both ends of the ice over the 6 games and deserved to win this series. I'll never be upset seeing an American win an individual award in hockey but there is no way you can convince me that Crawford wasnt the Conn Smythe winner. Not really upset either(Maybe I'm getting old). A little down but I guess I cant really be upset to see the B's lose like this. I guess its fitting after the game 7 vs Toronto. Oh well, congrats again guys. It was fun. You are a gracious fan. You are da man. I really felt the Hawks had the best team, but I was worried when it looked like it was going back to Chicago for Game 7. Cause anything can happen in a Game 7. I wasn't giving up on this game, however. Unlike the Sox games, when I know they are pretty much dead, I just wasn't sure tonight's game was ova. I just thought the Hawks had more talent, and even the better goalie. Crawford saved the game tonight. Boston had so many good scoring chances and yet Crawford had so many critical saves. I guess I'm saying I think the best team won and that doesn't always happen when you are talking about Chicago sports in the postseason. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 04:41 AM) I don't pretend that I follow hockey closely, but I've paid attention to the Hawks this year. They made my city proud, so I am happy. I follow the scores and standings in the regular season, but since moving to KC have been a playoffs-only type fan. Had season tickets all through childhood. Like you I'm proud of the team and the city but I don't deserve this happiness like other REAL fans who follow them all year.
  24. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 11:44 PM) Unfortunately, I think I'm going to have to deal with the myth of AJ for the rest of my life. Is this what it feels like to be a Bears fan? But that's not the purpose of this thread. It is to blast Sox management for a horrible, horrible decision to go with Flowers, not to perpetuate the AJ legend. Hearing the ESPN announcers praise AJ and looking at his stats brought this to the surface. It pissed me off thinking of Flowers/all these unnecessary losses. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 12:15 AM) Hey wow am I sick of hearing about this. I will agree that AJ is better than Flowers as long as we never have this thread again and you guys (the vocal AJ jerks) confess that AJ would not put this team anywhere near contention. Fine. Don't even mention AJ. How bout a replacement for AJ that can, uh, actually catch the ball and hit the ball. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 01:04 AM) In Greg's mind the formula is AJ+HAWK+OZZIE+TWTW=WS2013 No, I don't like the TWTW crap. The Blackhawks showed tonight they have the will to win, actually showing some heart and finishing off an opponent. Yet I'd rather call it 'heart' than a stupid line like TWTW. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 02:23 AM) Really???? This topic again...... I don't think this topic has come up at all. I wanted to mention it because it dawned on me after watching Sunday Night baseball this was a management gaffe of HUGE proportions. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 03:40 AM) Safe to say, this thread wouldn't exist if AJ weren't a player on the 2005 team. I don't need to live in the past for championship fever, thanks to the Blackhawks. Love those guys for winning a second Cup in the last few years!!!
  25. What heart! So many heroes. To score two goals at the end like that on the road in Game Six! Huge. Chicago should be most proud of this championship team! Wow!
