QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) I just don't understand what you want out of this team. You hate even thinking about the team rebuilding, yet you are in favor of driving one of its only good players out of town because you don't like his style. Eminor, I thought I made my position clear. Trade all everyday players except maybe Beckham and maybe Tank. Keep ALL pitchers except Peavy, Crain, Thornton.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 07:06 PM) Greg, you're impossible. He's the best position player on our team, and has been for two years now. He hits homeruns, plays good defense, steals bases, and hits for average. What do you want? Eminor, a couple of people have alluded to it, not just me. I happen to think he's a 'loser' like the one poster's comments on Dunn. I personally think he dogs it. He was our best player last year. This year he's got decent numbers that are dropping. He had that one abysmal year after immediately sucking after the Sox acquired him. I don't know if I'm allowed to bash players, so let's just say I don't like his style. If Rios is a great player and I'm being unfair, then I guess I am a bad fan.

Sale. And that's it. Like you said, Crain won't be on the team by then.

QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 04:59 AM) In an era where top relievers are coveted mid-season by contending teams, Crain should bring back a very good return. The man has been the best set-up guy in all of baseball this season, and there are probably at least 10 teams that would love to have him right now. You're crazy if you don't think he will bring back a good return. Lesser relievers than Crain have brought back very good returns because of how valuable a good reliever is mid-season. I'm assuming contenders will be shipping us prospects. So I think my prediction of two former 10th rounders is about right for Crain. I mean you can't believe a team will give up hot-shot prospects for a 33-year-old reliever.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 06:04 AM) How amazing would it be to get Skaggs + in a deal for Rios when not too long ago the entire league was laughing at us for picking up Alex Rios from Toronto. Now, we are possibly a month away from parlaying a free pick-up in to a couple all-star caliber years and a really good prospect +. Retrospect for the win! Let's wait and see who we get for him before you celebrate. I'm really thinking the return will NOT be special.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 04:07 AM) How could you not like "his game" when it includes good average, good power, good speed, average defense in center, above average defense in right and a good person in the clubhouse. Never really liked him. He's a slightly above average ballplayer I believe. Definitely been the team's best hitter for a while. .272 11 36 isn't bad. I really disliked him in 2011 when he reeked.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 04:39 AM) You should get something REALLY nice for Crain. Like what, Jake? A former first rounder? I think you are overestimating what Sox will get for him. What realistically are you thinking? I'd say two fringe prospects, like former 10th rounders who are doing OK in the minors.

The continuing fall and decline of PHT.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 09:07 AM) I been here 10 years. I have to admit, I'm addicted to Soxtalk. I hate this board so much at times but I can't stop from logging in. 2003-2006 was the goldenage of Soxtalk. Everybody was cool, witty, funny, etc( I'm calling out Kalapse, qwerty and Felix for not bringing their knowledge to PHT). Gamethreads were so much better back in he day. Now gamethreads consists of Caulfields long-winded rants and soxfest one-liners. Terrible. This board site is in decline and soxtalk bosses must do something. This is soxtalk. Not Hawkstalk. This board should be about the White Sox 95% and like 5% everything else. Filibuster is a joke (lol@Jenks and strange, get a f***ing you boring dickheads). I'm insulted. The best thread on this board is the nba thread because of me. I want 2005 Soxtalk back. Mods, make it happen. Gamethreads are short because it takes a masochist to watch a 9-inning game these days. I've noticed, however, if somebody like me goes in there and utters a strong opinion, you'll still get responses and the thread will pick up steam. In other words, if anybody cares to go in there and post, the threads will still be interesting. I've noticed because the games don't matter, there are few posts about the actual game. I mean why post something about Robin's strategy failing when we're losing four games at HOME to the f***ing Cleveland Indians? Not worth the effort. Even if the Sox look good on a given night why post during the game? They'll just blow it like Reed's rare implosion against Cleveland. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 09:37 AM) Since when have you contributed anything to a Gamethread? You're the one who spends all your time arguing about LeBron FREAKIN' James, and you wonder why SoxTalk sucks now? Maybe if you actually paid attention to what was going on with the team more closely, actually watched the majority of their games...actually had something constructive to say about a topic other than Snooki, but whatever. Here, have your stupid gamethreads to yourself the next two months. STOP THE ---- complaining and do something about it instead of acting like a whiny -----. I expect YOU, since you're calling everyone out, to do something to make this site better. What value have you brought? So I'll give up posting for the next 6 weeks or so in them, since even Fathom hardly posts on gamethreads anymore, and leave you to talk about the White Sox to your heart's content. You can fix things, just like Mr. Hahn. So nice to see one person here wants to be accountable for the sad state of things. Improve away... Caufield on the warpath! Never seen that before. Caufield is all right. He's even stopped posting about attendance for the most part, which must be killing him. Caufield is a good fan. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 05:17 PM) Coming from a guy calling people bots. You got a high opinion of yourself NBA thread is good because of you what nonsense. You do not like the board f***ing leave. What the hell have you contributed to just one single game thread any different than anyone else.......NOTHING. Keep my name out of your cryfest, you have a ignore button use it instead of whining in a 4 AM rant. Wow, Soxfest on the attack. Nice post! J4L getting owned here, IMO. -
Here's another guy we should ship now. Get a fair offer and boom, deal him. He's been utterly fantastic, but is it two straight bad outings? Deal him before his arm gets tired or something. Thank you in advance, Mr. Hahn.
-
I can't believe so many teams want Rios. I hope he's the first dealt. Never been a Rios fan. Don't like his game. Don't like his style. Just get a fair offer and deal him, Hahn. Why wait any longer??

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 08:14 PM) I wonder is there's another franchise in sports that has fans who constantly complain about the team being cheap despite being in the top 10 in payroll for the last decade or so. I still think they won't dare fire Robin and have to pay another manager the rest of the season. Robin has to resign. I mean he's engineered one of the worst stretches in White Sox history. Last couple weeks of last season to go with this season's horrible record. This team is probably going to lose 100 games. Detroit will win 16-17 of the 19. Cleveland owns the Sox; Minnie owns the Sox. Suddenly the Sox can beat KC, though. Robin has to resign and put ALL THE HEAT back on Kenny/Hahn. for the Sox truly suck.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 08:43 PM) I'd rather they pull a Strasburg and shut down Sale You can't just freeze him in ice and wait until we have a good team again to use him. Even horrible teams like the White Sox are required to play games.
-
You can't lose 4 games in a row to Cleveland at home in June. Robin should be replaced after the game (Sox too cheap to do so, however; would have to pay another body).
-
QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 07:19 PM) Hate when the FAKE TRUE...LOYAL SOX FANS show up when things go wrong. If you have other FAV teams....GTFO. Do you need some medication? Why do you think I'm not a loyal Sox fan? Are you insane? The Sox are still ruining my summers mentally and I'm not a Sox fans?
-
QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 07:12 PM) I wonder if they even care They should care that the players are basically stealing money considering their lack of effort.

This must be embarrassing for the team ownership group. People laughing at them constantly behind their backs, etc.

Gake Threa: Sat. 6/29 Wahoos vs. Yahoos

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 02:19 AM) It's tongue-in-cheek backwards scoreboard watching. Everyone knows the Marlins and Astros will be drafting 1-2 next year. Sox will be somewhere between 3-7. I'd prefer 3rd. Funny thing is, Astros have a much better team than the White Sox. But I don't get the wasted energy caring about the boring June draft. BORING. -

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 11:32 PM) All the years watching this team and I have to say this team is as bad or worse than the '89 team, and that's saying a lot This is an underachieving team. They all should be ashamed as they deposit their paychecks. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2013 -> 12:18 AM) Gotta love the lack of hustle by Rios leading off the 9th. At least the attendance was good. Would it be OK to say Rios is a dog? If that's too critical, how bout a loafer? Or a guy who obviously plays the game for the love of money? Anyhow, how can the Sox lose 3 straight games to an average team in their own division at home? I hate to say it, but fire Robin. Or ask him to resign. Or activate him and let him be the DH. Just end this agony. -

As we await today's LOL moments in the game, I was wondering if the Sox the past few years piss away games in the most laughable ways of any team. Or do all teams have these moments? Just seems like the Sox play laugh out loud baseball almost every day and rarely play a clean game. Do we butcher the game worst than any team since the Mets of the 60s or whenever they were the joke of baseball? Don't most horrible teams just lose without so many embarrassing moments? p.s. The Cubs can take solace in the fact we had a .500ish season going until they kicked our butt. Since then the Sox have played embarrassing baseball. Of course nobody's been fired or traded yet.It seems like the Sox are more the keystone cops than any team. Also, Robin is lucky the Sox didn't play like this last year. He'd be considered a joke. I mean how the hell do you lose Game 2 like that yesterday ... at home? There are so many horrible horrible losses. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 03:20 PM) BTW, we're currently in position for the 4th draft pick. If Milwaukee wins and we lose today, 3rd. Going to be hard to get into that first or second position, though. Do fans of all horrible teams always talk about falling closer to the top draft pick in baseball? The sport with the most boring, worst draft, biggest crapshoot draft of all sports? My guess is you'd get laughed out of a bar or the Cell if you brought up this topic with most Sox fans. Who gives a frick about the draft? I care more about free agency and putting wins on the board and getting the best possible manager and hitting coaches as soon as possible. Have fun talking about the draft all the way til next June when we take some high school kid who may or may not make the bigs. -
Do you want Ventura back as manager next year?
greg775 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Guys, something has to be done with this trainwreck. Robin needs to step down immediately and let somebody else take the fall. He's too good a White Sox legend to be embarrassed day after day. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 07:29 AM) Oh yes it is. Hockey is terrible. Even the diehards don't understand all the rules. I understand the rules. The Hawks title is making this a LOT easier to digest.
