If that's true, we've managed to blow (even if it's terrible luck) 80-85% of what could have gotten in return this season for Floyd, Peavy and Crain if they were all healthy.

Alright, you can find me floating facedown in the Illinois river sometime soon

I feel bad for Hahn. I really do.

Again, we could use this as an opportunity to actually give Alexei a day off by playing Morel at short.

‏@whitesox 37s

The #WhiteSox have placed RHP Jesse Crain (R shoulder strain, retroactive to 6/30) &1B Paul Konerko (lower back strain) on the 15-day DL,

THIS SEASON IS GOING JUST GREAT!

Maybe Crain can come back July 15, have a couple solid outings and recoup some trade value before the deadline.

After Phil Rogers stole your Blackhawks/White Sox analogy, lol...

Sad times when that's the only positive to come out of the month so far...

One thing we CAN do right now is try to acquire Kelly Shoppach and send Gimenez back to the minors. We need some veterans around the younger players to stabilize the clubhouse with all these wholesale changes coming, and Shoppach's a useful back-up player whether we're competing or rebuilding, whichever direction it goes.

Or July 19 when there are games again.

I expect Alex Rios to get hit by the Metra in the next day or two.

Alexei will get injured stealing 2B with a poorly-conceived dive/slide as he tries to avoid contact and gets wiped out by the bag or gets his cleats caught in the dirt.

Crain would have to go on the dl. f***in a.

He threw almost 200 pitches in 20 days this past June.

Most other closers and set-up guys are AT LEAST 100+ pitches or more behind him in total pitches for a reliever this year (not including long men/sport starters).

Not really a complete surprise, with his injury history since joining the White Sox.

Bunting a ball into his own face.

wow, just wow! It's been awful news after awful news this year.

It is bad luck but anyone who really thinks 2 months of Jesse Crain is going to get you a huge piece of your future is in la la land. If these players were as valuable as some believe, there is no way the Sox would be in last place.

HEY RICK, SELL OFF WHATEVER YOU HAVE NOW BEFORE ANYONE ELSE IS LOST TO INJURIES AND YOU GET NOTHING.

Honestly, where do you come up with these random numbers?

I disagree, the top reliever on the market would get some solid pieces in return. Considering we won't offer Crain arbitration, we now risk losing him and getting nothing in return.

I'm still optimistic Peavy and Crain can come off the DL after the break, and still be traded for some value. Maybe not top talent, but something useful.

Me too. If anything, there's way more of a reason to trade Crain for anything you can get as opposed to getting rid of Peavy.

Of course, we have no idea what's wrong with Crain and thus can't say if he will be healthy at the end of his 15 days.

They're saying it's a "better safe than sorry" situation. If they can be taken at their word, it is only a precaution and not a big deal. If he can come back on the 19th and make 3 or 4 appearances with no issues, we should still be able to get something for him.
