QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:48 AM) Nobody is offended that you think he's a piece of s***. We're disgusted that you think fear of being raped is a good thing. Because that means there's a lot of rape. That doesn't mean we're taking anyone's side apart from "nobody should be raped, including prisoners." I don't think it means there's a lot of rape. There's a perception out there that prisoners bang each other in prison and some of it is forced. That perception will probably be there forever cause there's no proof of it either way. So would I be happy if Holmes fears the possibility of that? Sure. I don't like Holmes. I am a supporter of victims; I don't care about the people who ruin lives. Always been that way. Just because I want him to fear the possibility of what lies ahead doesn't mean I want prisoners to break the law and rape him or whack him in the knees with a baseball bat. But should he fear that, that'd be nice. And judging from what I read about Holmes complaining about the prison food, I'm thinking he will be a little concerned about what awaits him in general population if he doesn't get a cushy 40-year stay in a mental hospital.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 03:11 PM) Michele Obama's speech was unbelievably bad. Admit it It was not worth slobbering over that is for sure and Wolf and Company act like she is some stranger who was introduced to America. We know all about Barack and the blah job he did the last four years. Ridiculous QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) U mad? No. Obama's a Sox fan. I like him. I just laugh that the Democrats in the media got to have their little party last night. Wait til Barack's speech. They are going to proclaim its the best speech of all time. "Barack Obama made a convincing claim that he just needs four more years to complete his mission. He stressed over and over to trust him that he needs more time. It's obvious he's won the trust of America after that speech and the election is a mere formality. No president in modern time has made a more convincing point. Trust me and I will complete the deal. America flat out believes in Barack Obama. After that speech, frankly how can anybody not believe in him?" QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 05:23 PM) yep, im voting for romney only because when a republican is in office that means bigger raises and more action/jobs for us military folk.. jobs are good, obamas been downsizing the s*** out of us and now you have hundreds of thousands of unemployed vets competing with other unemployed vets for jobs (I'm one of them). I feel for you. You deserve a job; you deserve a raise. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) I am back in school, double majoring in elementary ed and computer science while getting screwed by congress as they nickle and dime the post 9-11 GI Bill to the point where veterans end up with no money to pay rent, groceries, or hell even buy books for their classes! Build a business i couldnt get a loan unless i robbed a bank. I dont necessarily want more wars but at least bring the numbers back up so that those that planned to retire working for uncle sam while doing their 20 years could still do so. Nice post. You owned him with that one. p.s. The easiest prediction in America is ALL media PUNDITS will be proclaiming Barack's speech one of the best of all time. It doesn't matter what he says; they are Democrats; they are about to give the biggest slobber since his last convention speech. Only this one???? It will be magical; it will unify America; it will bring tears to everybody's eyes. The best speech in history is coming up Thursday folks.
-
No reason to speculate. You could start a rumor about anybody in baseball. Hopefully nothing will come of it and he's clean.

As expected ... the Democrats in the media slobber over Obama's speech. CNN's Wolf Blitzer: "The First Lady not hitting a home run, but probably a Grand Slam." NBC's Chuck Todd: "Michelle Obama owned this convention in a way that no speaker owned the convention in Tampa." CNN analyst David Gergen: "If they have two more nights like this, they can probably break this race open." Fox News's Martha McCallum: "Very positive response here from the floor, and very enthusiastic from people listening to this." Fox News' Brit Hume: "Extremely impressive woman." MSNBC's Rachel Maddow: "Oh my god." MSNBC's Ed Schultz: "Tonight we were reintroduced to a star." CNN analyst Donna Brazille: "Love is in the air." The same Wolf Blitzer who sneered at Romney's wife. What a joke. I concede Obama is going to win. I like Obama enough in that he's a Sox fan. But my god, the man's four years were a joke. How bout at least mentioning that Michelle Obama's speech doesn't mean jack s*** because we already know who Barack is from four years in the office. The media bias amazes me. It was a good speech; it was not earth shattering. My god, Wolf.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 12:40 AM) Which prisoners are ok to rape and hitch aren't? We need to know the rules here, and you've decided that you're a good person to judge, so please let us know when it's ok. No prisoners are ok to rape. But do i hope Holmes every moment of his waking day fears what's ahead for him, of course I want that. I want every moment of the rest of his life to be hell.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:50 AM) the only reason someone would (rationally) fear being raped in prison is because there is a serious problem with rape in prison. If you want that fear to continue, you want that problem to continue. I don't think you actually support continued prison rapings, but that's where your statement leads to. I'd like to hear your guys' position on the killer. That's the topic here. You guys seem to be offended that I think he's a piece of s***. I think I've made my position clear on the prison rape matter. Hell yes I hope he dreads the possibility of going to the general population and fears the possibility of rape. I want the guy's life to be a living hell. I'm a little appalled you guys seem to be taking the side of this creep.

As expected, the pundits are not talking at all about Barack's actions the last four years, just the words of Michelle's speech tonight. I thought it was a very good speech, she's very likeable. But the fact remains they've been in office four years and it was a s***ty four years. He's going to win (as long as the voters come out and aren't overconfident) but he needs to get off his ass and start working on the economy. Fixing the economy. If the other side blocks his good ideas he needs to do what politicians did in the past and meet with some of these men on the other side and get their support. Play politics. Get a consensus. He's a piss poor leader. He's going to win so he needs to get his act together and do a better job the next four years. Crucial years.

Kenny questions team strategy in Detroit this past weekend.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 05:41 AM) What's the point of going to the press? Maybe he should have more than 3 starting pitchers who are capable of pitching in August/September...see Sale/Quintana being arm weary and perhaps mentally drained, as Quintana normally has played 140 game seasons. Where was he when we needed at least one more starting pitcher. Why did he hire a manager with NO experience, and now he's going to complain about it? As much as he gets defended for this season, and rightfully so, maybe we need both of them gone (Ozzie/KW) just so the entire organization can have a completely fresh start. Maybe even Cooper, although if there's anyone who should get the benefit of the doubt, it's probably him. I don't think it's some diabolical scheme to go to the press. He hasn't talked to them a while and made himself available is my guess and like Ozzie, he's pretty honest. So he blasted away. He's probably pissed which he should be. Team is having a good season but pissed it away in Detroit again. Is one win in a pair of three-game series in Motown too much to ask? 2-4 woulda been meaningful. 0-6? He's furious so he vented. And to not bunt at Cabrera? Who is paying the Sox checks? Not Detroit. That was ridiculous, not to bunt just because it's against the baseball code of not embarrassing an injured player. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:24 AM) That he's disgusted by the stupid baseball he saw over the weekend and that they need to change things up for when they play the Tigers next week. I have no problem with him calling out the team, as that was a very bad series. I said last week if I was Reinsdorf I'd call the coaches in my office and ask them WTF about not bunting Cabrera out of the game. It's like the Sox were trying to not embarrass the guy or something. I mean if our third baseman was one legged, the opponent would have bunted all weekend, you just know it. I'm glad Kenny spoke up. He sounded furious which he should be. It's a long season and Sox entered the Detroit series in a position of strength, only needing to win one to be two up. And he should be pissed tonight as well. You can't blow opportunities like this if you want to make the playoffs. Kudos to Kenny. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 04:07 AM) Less than 16k in attendance tonight. Absolutely ridiculous And all 16,000 wish they were someplace else. Sox didn't deserve a crowd after the last 6 in Detroit. And tonight? They could be 2 up? You can't blow opportunities like tonight. They'd be right back to 2 up but couldn't beat the s***ty Twins again. Unacceptable. I'd expect the crowd tomorrow will be 5,000 to 10,000. It's like the Sox got that early lead for once and just stopped playing. Was it 3-0 or 4-0 after two innings? What a joke.

It's pretty unacceptable for a team in a pennant race that had a horrible road trip to come home and get boatraced by the worst team in the American League. At least the fans didn't pay to support this crap tonight.
-
Haven't seen the game thread since we were winning. What's the mood been on this total embarrassment of a game?
-
Phil Humber ... the guy whose career ended the same year he pitched a perfect game. Wow.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:32 AM) Atta boy Dayan. This is getting to be like Big 10 basketball, win at home, lose on the road against the good teams and hope to play .500 or above against the weaker teams on the road. What a great analogy. Nice. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:33 AM) Somehow? I can't jinx the Sox by saying they'll win the division nor am I convinced that is the Sox destiny.
-
If the Sox somehow win the division and Detroit misses the playoffs, would Leyland be fired?
-
Tank with a shot past third for the nice double. That guy coulda maybe made the play in a perfect Twins world. Nice RBI for Tank. 3-0. Sox once again appear to have short memories in shrugging off a horrific series.
-
Great hit by Rios taking it to right. Sox up 2-0. All right!
-
Nice. 1-0 Sox. Ground out by Paulie.
-
QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:22 AM) embarrassingly bad attendance tonight. I am/will be out of town for next weeks series against the tigers, and i am contemplating buying tickets and not going simply so that Tigers fans dont overrun the cell Damn. I never thought of that. Are they gonna have half the crowd? s***.
-
Nice hit, Adam. OK, White Sox. We gotta get these 2 runs in. No bulls*** tonight.
-
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:20 AM) Wow, tickets on stubhub are goin as low as 50 cents for tomorrows game. Why would the seller even bother? That baffles me.
-
It'd be nice to get two more years of Youk at 6 mill a year. Any chance of that?

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:15 AM) Game 163 in 2008 was a packed (blacked out) house. Good point. That was a great day.
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:06 AM) The Cell is a ghost town tonight, shame! I think it's just habit. People don't go to the games anymore. I think it's a conscious decision based on price. I wonder if we made the wild card game if it'd be sold out. I mean the fake playoff game, the one-game thing.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 12:07 AM) Within 2 pages you went from lousy and abysmal to C+. It's hard to take you seriously. C isn't exactly a great grade. I don't think of the tone of my posts suggested Viciedo was scum. More like blah (for this season). At least that was my intent. I don't discount room for improvement though the fan in me wished for runaway success like Trout. For instance, I don't want the Sox to trade him and I do want him to open next season as starting leftfielder.
