  1. Wow. Dunn busts the game wide open. Beautiful hit. I apologize.
  2. It should be 2-0. What a s*** swing at crap.
  3. Chance to bust things open here and make it easier on the bullpen. If Sox don't score more here, I wonder if Jake will go 7. I don't trust the Sox pen to hold a four-run lead with three innings left.
  4. Keep your eye on the ball, Morel. s***ty at bat. That was meat.
  5. Finally a base hit by Beckham. Sox finally hitting tonight. Bust it open right here, Morel.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 11:03 PM) Other than your new coinphrase, "extra at bad" (was that intentional?), which is fun, Rios is going nowhere. Yeah with him it's an extra at bad. Same as Adam.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) I was thinking that I'd love to see Rios get a shot at leading off and De Aza batting 2nd. De Aza does a real good job of taking pitches, and it would also open up the hole for him between 1st and 2nd (De Aza pulls a ton of grounders in that direction) a lot more than it does when he's batting after Beckham does. Also, Konerko should be batting 3rd, as you have to get him as many at bats as possible. Why in the world would you want to rely on Rios for anything? Giving him in theory an extra at bad is ridiculous. If the Sox would just release him and play others it might actually spark the team. That pickoff last night was my last straw with that lousy ballplayer.
  8. The bottom line is the Marlins' Ozzie crisis is now old news, has passed through the news cycle and like Rush Limbaugh he's now fine and safe. If the Marlins win, he'll be beloved; if they lose he'll be mocked/hated or igorned/
  9. If it's about getting your foot down, Gordon, get your foot down. I think you can hit or your can't and it's possible like Brian Anderson, he can't.
  10. Marlins. I love Ozzie Guillen the player and Ozzie Guillen the manager. He was part of the best moment of my sports life. Our winning the WS. Never happened before for me; and never will again, barring a total miracle. Too many teams in baseball that spend way more money. I'm thankful the Ozzie led Sox were not satisfied with just making the WS but wanted to win it and did.
  11. At least move him to sixth against lefties. The man is killing our lineup at No. 3 vs. lefties. You think he'll even get 10 hits against lefties all year? I'd say he'll hit .100 vs. lefties.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 04:56 AM) Ozzie didn't want to move him down to make the GM look bad, his ghost writer admitted that. I think Robin doesn't want to move him down because it could destroy any confidence he has. This situation is going to be a mess if he can't get it going soon, and there's really no reason to think he will, although he always has been pretty streaky. Good post. The thing about confidence? Who cares? Last year should have destroyed his confidence, what does it matter now? It's like worrying about offending Rios. I mean if we had a team leader who cared (maybe no team has a true leader anymore) somebody should ream Rios' ass for getting picked off on that Little League play. I mean alias should tell us ... when is the last time somebody got picked off on that play?????
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 05:04 AM) There really was no evidence the guy would become historically awful. You could make a case he was due to slip. His second half of 2010 was bad. He's a big guy and the bigger the guy, it seems the earlier they start to decline. He really didn't want to be a DH. He was switching leagues, but no way you could have possibly pegged him with the total he has right now in a White Sox uniform. The Sox didn't contend last year, he was crap. Nothing is expected this year, and he's been pretty bad. He's obviously in a little better shape this year, but it may be a case of too little too late. I guess we just have to hope its one of those things and he's going to start hitting again soon, but it sure looks like deja vu. This thing is about to mushroom. I think attendance will speak volumes. Our fans don't want to see Dunn and Rios play baseball. It's just not worth it. If we could dump those two I think it'd be easier to embrace this team. Why go to a game and be put into such a bad/sad mood by those two?
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 04:55 AM) It would be a violation of the CBA. I did not know yu could not fine players anymore. Makes sense though. Coddled players. That was a mental mistake that cannot be tolerated. It only cost the Sox a chance at winning a game.
  15. What would be the harm in fining him for that baserunning gaffe? He might be upset? Brood? He's done that enough. Who cares?
  16. You know Robin is no dummy. He realizes Dunn has to bat 7th against lefties or 8th. But will he make the move? Prolly not for the same reasons Ozzie didn't. It makes the GM look bad; it makes Dunn the highly paid whiff machine look bad. It's easier to plant him third or fifth and watch him whiff and say, 'oh well.'
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 04:46 AM) Soxtalk hated AJP, Soxtalk hated Konerko from 2007-2009, Soxtalk hated Contreras for half of 2005. Cheer for the Soxtalk punching bags, usually they turn out to be OK. I hated soxtalk for hating Konerko at that time.
  18. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 02:57 AM) I think we need to just go ahead and fired Ventura.Forfeit the rest of the games this season as well. People blast my posts and you come up with a gem like that one? Sarcasm is so effective.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 02:57 AM) Hawk really needs to get ahold of himself. Unbelievably unprofessional on that last play as Betemit is simply throwing someone out at first. Routine. That was funny, him pleading for him to throw it away. What a novel concept it would have been to get a clutch hit.
  20. At least last night's game is long forgotten. This one was just as crushing.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 02:54 AM) This is and has been White Sox baseball for quite sometime. The clutch hit cannot be found. 1 bad inning loses close games over and over again. Amen. Over and over like you said.
  22. Horrible effort with runners in scoring position. Disgraceful.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 02:50 AM) Prepare to get ripped on for this Why? I want a tie game.
